Season 1

Ren Amamiya just wanted to live a normal life. He was taking an afternoon stroll one day when all of a sudden, he gets attacked by a strange alien. Just as Ren thinks he's going to die, he is saved by Vanitas, who gives Ren a fraction of his power. Vanitas explains to Ren that the alien that just attacked him was called a Styxian, and due to the power transfer, Ren is now a quasi-member of the Quarters, a group of people dedicated to exterminating potential threats to the world. Joined by the likes of Ren's roommate and future girlfriend Twilight Sparkle, Kenta Kitagawa, a rude yet eccentric photojournalist, Action Fashionista Hiyoko Saionji and the ever-mysterious Seijuro Hiko, Ren and Vanitas travel around the United States, helping the Quarters gain control over the spread of the Styxian menace. Supporting cast members include rogue heroes and local mechanics Reno and Cameron Campbell, outspoken pretty boy Armin Arlert (Adrien), and Vanitas’s surrogate little sister Sherry Maltby. Mimi Tachikawa shows up as a reoccurring villain.

Russia Arc

Ren and the gang make their way to Russia after hearing reports of a Styxian outbreak in Moscow. When they get there, they rendezvous with fellow Quarter Xemnas (Ramel) who leads them into the fight with three mercenaries: Shadow the Hedgehog, Decoy Octopus (Freeman), and Toko Fukawa. Shadow is killed (and later brought back from the dead) by Mimi, who confesses to being the one spreading the Styxian parasite before her subsequent arrest.

Cult Arc

Ren and Vanitas find themselves in the crosshairs of the Church of the Rising Phoenix, who have their hands on the dangerous Etnes Strain - a new type of alien parasites that can latch onto human beings. Sebastian Michaelis - possessed by the cult’s alien leader Discord - kidnaps Sherry hoping to use her as a sacrifice in order to resurrect The Archon. Seijuro comes to Sherry’s rescue, and in a fit of rage Discord-Sebastian unleashes the Etnes parasite on our heroes, killing Toko and partially possessing Armin.

Grand Tower Arc

In a quest to find out more about Zeo Labs, the scientific community that supplied the Church of the Rising Phoenix with the Etnes parasites, Ren and the gang are led to Grand Tower, a hundred-floor underground bunker rumored to be housing more samples of the Etnes Strain. They learn that Grand Tower was built upon the collaborative efforts of Dr. Takaya Sakaki and his assistant Minako Aino, two scientists who left Zeo Labs due to… creative differences. With the help of computer whiz (and Vanitas’s younger cousin) Kite, Psycho Lesbian Hot Witch Broccoli and her marginally more rational girfriend Amy Rose (Rosalie) and the mysterious Peko Pekoyama, the gang set out to gather all of Dr. Sakaki’s surviving human test subjects. Such test subjects include the likes of Naru Narusegawa, who was given whip-like tentacles, werewolf Kenshin Himura, half-gargoyle girl Mokuba Kaiba, and the once thought to be dead Toko Fukawa, who was saved by Dr. Sakaki in exchange for griffin-like wings. It's later revealed that Peko is actually the biological daughter of Dr. Sakaki, and that the discovery that her mother's corpse was being used to power his ultimate weapon, the Horizon Breaker, was what convinced Peko to hatch her escape plan.

Venomia Arc

Ren’s sudden disappearance has taken a toll on Hiyoko. Desperate to find a way to contribute to something, she and her friends join The Resistance, a group of freedom fighters led by Orihime Inoue [Freya] and her second-in-command Arukenimon, the Archon Priest of the Moon. The Resistance serves to fight against the Venomians, a race of humanoid aliens looking to invade Earth. The invasion is led by the Venomian High Command, consisting of the Venomian Army Commander Megatron, Archon Priest of the High Sun Proto Man [Xerxes], Lieutenant Franky [Hal], coach/tutor Ms. Larxene, and her personal pupil Gaara. Gaara jeopardizes the secrecy of the Venomian invasion by announcing their plan to The Resistance, sending the Venomian High command in an uproar. Amidst the chaos, Kite manages to convince Venomian soldier Benedict Kazuhira Miller (Maverick) to betray his organization and fight alongside The Resistance. The Venomians are ultimately defeated by The Resistance, and the world knows peace for a while.

By Hiyoko’s suggestion, the group splits in half, but not before Seijuro seizes the opportunity to murder Kenta and toss him off a cliff.

Angelbreaker Arc

Human mercenaries Komi Shouko [Monika] and Oswald [Nero] are slacking off, doing magic shows when they're supposed to be hunting humans. When the Court of Vampires catches wind of this, their leader Eda Clawthorne [Lady Midnight] sends the quote-unquote "Space-Time Twins" to Transylvania in search of the Angelbreaker Armor. What follows is a full blown war between the Court of Vampires, Hiyoko and company, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu and the Werewolf Mafia he's set to inherit, and Komi's sister (and descendant of the Archon Priest of Amber) Mimi, who is now Yukari Hayasaka. Meanwhile, a portal to an alternate universe opens, bringing heroes and villains from Fallen Angel Patia into the world (much to the dismay of Mako Mankanshoku [Kanna]), as well as the mysterious figure Okeer [Mundus] and an alternate version of Oswald named Keitaro Urashima [Caligula].

Season 8

Oswald and Keitaro, still distraught after the death of their friend Komi, are approached by a mysterious figure. He reveals himself to be The Great Gwendal Himself, and offers to revive Komi on the condition that they join his bounty hunting group, JUNCTION. With the help of fellow JUNCTION members Death the Kid (Hermes), Eve Polastri (Yujin), Sheldon Cooper (Giuseppe) and Samurai Jack (Cesare), Oswald and company travel the world to find the Orator Stones and uncover the Tome of the Pauper King. Also searching for the Tome is Ren, who is searching for it on behalf of the Quarters in exchange for freeing Kenta from the Knight suit, and Marluxia (Poe), a mysterious masked man working for the even more mysterious Abed Nadir (The Orator).
