Rousing Speeches in fanfiction.

  • The one Twilight Sparkle delivers in chapter 17 of Ace Combat: The Equestrian War is also glorious:
Twilight Sparkle: We have to stand together once more, but this time, not as earth ponies. Not as unicorns. Or pegasi. We must stand together as the ponies of Equestria! It’s true that, on the outside, each of us is different. We live in different parts of Equestria, we have different names, we look differently. But... we have fought, suffered and died together! Deep inside, in our hearts and souls, we are all children of this land! We cannot ignore the time when our land is in danger. We must fight! We must have courage! I don’t know if you will decide to follow me or not, but I want to live in Equestria with my friends! That’s why I will keep fighting! To the bitter end, if it must be! [...] Everypony, we’re gonna take back Canterlot today! Let us make haste! The sun and the moon will lead our way to victory! Know that this is not the day we will surrender! This is not the day we fall! This day we fight! FOR EQUESTRIA!!!
  • All Assorted Animorphs AUs: After they're declared the new Visser One in "What if Tom was infested by a member of the Yeerk Peace Movement?", Tom and Aftran deliver a speech about how the Yeerks don't have to be enslavers.
  • Aurora (PonyholicsAnonymous) has Celestia give one to her forces just before the Final Battle with Dawnbringer:
Celestia: Ponies! Many times have I made speeches such as this. I had hoped never to have to make another. For centuries, Equestria has known peace. And yet, when war came upon you, sudden and unexpected, you rose to the challenge! Our enemy thinks you weak. He thinks that since peace is all you have known, fighting is beyond you. But he does not understand. He does not understand that peace is a far greater reward than power ever could be, and that is why today, he will fall. Against us, he will fall! To Canterlot, and victory!
  • The Bolt Chronicles: Rhino gives a spirited pep talk to Mittens in “The Ship” to get the waffling cat to definitively admit her love for Bolt. It's reminiscent of a similar speech the hamster gives to Bolt in the film, urging him to put aside his indecisiveness and rescue Mittens from an animal shelter where she is incarcerated.
  • In Codex Equus, there are several examples.
    • Crystal Empress Coranam III of the Crystal Empire gives one to her people when war breaks out with Queen Colossos' Giants:
Empress Coranam III: We have faced terrible foes, from within and without. First there were the rival city-states who impeded our rise in the early days: by words or by blades they bent to our will. Then there were the Griffon Tribes; vicious predators who saw us as mere hunting animals. We purged them from our lands, so our children need not fear being carried off as a meal. And there have been countless other foes—the servants of Discord; the many nations that dared to challenge us: all ground to dust by our righteous cause and indomitable Crystal Legions!
We spread across the world, rightful heirs to the Old Empire’s legacy. Where we found chaos, we brought order! Where we found poverty, we brought prosperity! Where we found hatred and savagery, we brought the loving light of the Crystal Heart and our civilization! Our gleaming crystal palaces are the envy of the world...and now we face a terrible new foe: the Giants.
They have attacked us without cause, and shown their savage nature—cities have been slaughtered, ponies eaten alive; and our friends, families and comrades enslaved. They and their demon-spawn Queen think themselves invincible, that their size grants them the right to crush all smaller than them, as some twisted form of 'honor'. I ask you, is bowing to monsters honorable? They know NOTHING of honor! They are savages, nothing more! They consider it hubris that we do not roll on our backs and beg for mercy, as if they were gods! Theirs is the TRUE arrogance!
These Giants think of us as insects. We shall show them that some insects can STING.
To arms, citizens of the Empire! Avenge every innocent stallion, mare and foal who has died under these monsters’ hooves and in their bellies! We shall turn back this dark tide, and cut these oversized primitives down to size! The Crystal Empire is unconquered! We are UNCONQUERABLE!
My faithful subjects; I admit I am as terrified as you are. But I will make this fear steel me, for we have only one choice; one chance to survive and not have our civilization snuffed out under a tide of rapine and slaughter: We must purge these savages from our lands and drive them back to the rotting wastelands they came from!
To arms! For your loved ones! For justice! FOR THE EMPIRE!!
    • As the Alicorn god of Leadership, Emperor Golden Scepter has the power to magically boost morale with just a few words, which isn't surprising as he's based on the Emperor of Mankind. A notable incident had him rallying his soldiers during the "Temptation Unbound" event, when said soldiers were starting to falter after seeing the sheer amount of Fallen deities and their allies/worshipers that were led by Ispita.
Emperor Golden Scepter: (to his soldiers) Equus and its surrounding universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This seemingly horrific battle will not be the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our trials, the beginning of our crusade to save Ponykind and all of the sapient creatures that live with them. So be faithful! Be strong! BE VIGILANT!
    • Prince Written Word, Golden Scepter's thirteenth demi-divine son, doesn't fall very far from the tree. Because he (supposedly) embodies Golden Scepter's conviction and ability to inspire, Written Word is able to make grandiose and impassioned speeches that inspire people to do the right thing, boost morale, and break his listeners out of their stupor. His entry explains that his ability to give these kind of speeches is due to being an empath, which makes him very in tune with other people's emotions, as well as his own. Thus, Written Word is fairly easy to upset, especially when confronted with situations of profound suffering and despair. One particular incident that occurred before his Ascension had him give a speech to his surviving army of Pony soldiers after watching them alternate between crying for a divine savior and letting themselves get killed by the demons in despair which made Written Word realize the true value of faith, rather than simply its religious aspects. This served as a catalyst for his Ascension to demi-Alicornhood, and also induced a Mass "Oh, Crap!" reaction from the demons themselves upon seeing that his speech actually worked.
Prince Written Word: BROTHERS AND SISTERS-IN-ARMS! You, your friends, and your loved ones have spent your ENTIRE LIVES under the cruel dogma of tyranny, wallowing in despair and hopelessness, only to cry to the heavens for help once you are finally FREED! If that is what your former leaders taught you to do, then... NO MORE! You all got this far because you decided to put your trust and faith in a complete stranger who came to your homes one day, and helped you when you needed it most! So I ask for you- no, I PLEAD for you to take that same trust and faith you previously showed me, and use them to empower yourselves! Empower EACH OTHER! For when we are standing together, united as ONE... NOTHING COULD HOPE OR DARE TO TRY STOP US!
  • Code Prime has the following from Oghi in Chapter 36 of R1 as the heroes face the Darkest Hour, following the Decepticons conquering Britannia and declaring themselves masters of the Earth, decimating the Black Knights' ranks in the process:
Ohgi: We've built an entire army from nothing before, and we can do it again! I for one am not gonna sit by as Megatron conquers, ruins, and kills countless lives! If I die here, fighting for a cause like this, then it's about a good a cause as any to die for. I know I probably won't be the only one. So, the question is, how do you check out? Do you want it on your feet, or on your goddamn knees, begging?! Even before I became a Black Knight, I never begged! I didn't beg to Britannia, and I sure as hell am not gonna beg to Megatron! He wants our submission?! Well, I say fuck him! Let's fight that monster!
  • The Conversion Bureau: The Other Side of the Spectrum and its various side stories are filled with these. Of particular note, there is TCB!Lyra Heartstrings' Final Speech (which heavily references The Great Dictator), King William of Windsor's address in The King's Speech, Enitan Adebayo's rallying cry for the War Refugees, and Princess Celestia's welcoming back the Crystal Ponies to give them the drive to power up the Crystal Heart and defeat Sombra once and for all.
  • Earth's Alien History:
    • Admiral Yagami gives a brief one prior to the Battle of Nical during the Mekon War.
Admiral Yagami: Once more, we face bitter enemies of our peoples on the field of battle.
This will be a hard fight. Our enemies, though cruel, are no novices at the art of war. And their technological prowess is great. But they are slaves, and masters of slaves. Their will is weak. We are a free alliance of peoples, and we cannot be opposed by slaves.
The eyes of our homeworlds are on us. Many of us will not survive this day. But our children, our grandchildren, and our worlds will thrive because of our actions today.
      Tennoheika Banzai!
    • Shepard gives one to rally the troops when it seems the Reapers are getting the upper hand in the Second Battle of Sol.
"I'm not going to sugarcoat this. Right now we are all that stands between the Reapers and Earth and you know what the Reapers will do if they land on Earth. So I have something to ask of all of you." Shepard said, her voice broadcasting to everyone in her ragtag fleet. "I ask of you your lives, and your courage. I ask of you your faith, and your honor—your strength, and your compassion. For today, I lead you to die. I will not ask you to welcome this event. I will not insult you by calling it well, or just, or even glorious. But I will say this.
"Each moment you fight is a gift to those on that planet. Each second we fight is a second longer that billions of people can draw breath. Each blast of a skelk cannon, each Reaper felled, each breath earned is a victory! It is a person protected for a moment longer, a life extended, an enemy frustrated!"
There was a brief pause. "In the end, they will kill us," Shepard said, voice loud, ringing across the fleet. "But first, they shall fear us!"
    • Sky Marshal Rantalon gives one to the allied expeditionary force right before they commence their assault on the Reapers' Dark Space base.
"My fellow Men and Women of TeTO, before us stands a hive of abominations. Abominations that have been responsible for the deaths of more sentient beings than anyone could ever count. For over two years now they have been engaged in a war of extermination with out peoples. It is our duty to defeat them here and end their threat for all time." He paused for a moment, seemingly choked with emotion before recovering and saying, "I know many of you have feared for friends and family back in the Milky Way. I too have worried for my mother, my father, and all my siblings who are serving in the military. We don’t know what has happened with the invasion there. But I believe, no, I know that these mechanical monstrosities could not have succeeded. After we were freed from the Mekon, my people swore we would never again be dominated. The Tenctonese and the Prawn swore the same after being freed from the Overseers. The people of Earth have resisted invasion after invasion. We the races of TeTO are indomitable and unbreakable! Today we destroy the Reapers and end their threat forever! All ships, prepare for battle!"
  • The Elements of Harmony and the Savior of Worlds has Blueblood give one to the Royal Guard while preparing for Tirac's attack on Canterlot.
Prince Blueblood: That is my ancestral home. I can trace my lineage all the way back to the original founders, mere weeks before King Invincible I founded the Ancient Kingdom of Ponyland. In all that time, through griffin invasions, Tirac killing Majesty, the dissolution of Ponyland, Discord and Nightmare Moon, the city has never fallen. And upon my horn, it will not fall to Tirac on this day! You are the Royal Guard, reborn and ready to do your duty in defense of this city and of Equestria! Stand proud and tall, ponies!
    • Shining Armor gives a briefer speech to his own troops when they arrive in Ponyville to drive back Tirac's forces there.
  • In the Empath: The Luckiest Smurf novel, Empath gives one to his fellow Smurfs before they collectively take on Gargamel, with his speech being a Call-Back to Papa Smurf's when all his fellow Smurfs were just Smurflings that lost their parents to The Plague.
  • An Empire of Ice and Fire:
    • While most of the other defending commanders at the Battle of Last Hearth use simple battle cries, Jaime gives an actual, if brief, speech to the Westerlands forces under his command as they prepare to face the Army of the Dead.
Jaime: See those, you cunts?! They think they can stop us. But they fucking won't! We are men of the Westerlands! We are Lions! We are Boars! We are Spears, and Firetrees, and the fucking Sun itself! When we roar, the very rocks tremble! So let the fucking dead in the Seven Hells themselves hear us roar!
    • Jon gives an absolutely epic one just before the Battle of Winterfell:
Jon: Men and Women of Westeros! Hear me! My name is Jaehearys Targaryen, Third of my Name, Emperor of the Targaryen Empire! But my name was not always this. I was once Jon Snow... the lowly and ashamed bastard of Winterfell. I came from nothing but shame and darkness, shunned by all as a stain on my great father’s name. I came from this nothing, arose from a baseborn bastard to find myself before you all. The United Men and Women of the North, South, East and West. Of Westeros, Essos, North of the Wall and from lands unseen by many that live. The greatest army in the history of the world! An Army that I am honored to fight alongside!
Today, I stand before you not as a King or an Emperor, not as a bastard or a highborn. I stand before you as a son of these lands, both North and South. The brother of the finest family I could ever know. The father of three beautiful children! The husband of the greatest woman I have ever known! And a free Man!
Look at it, men and women of the living! The King of Death and his undead monsters before you wish to make slaves of us all, to destroy our civilization and all we love and cherish. To extinguish all life upon this world... but you know what? FUCK THEM! We will hold this fucking ground before us! Channel the spirits of warriors long dead. Of the Age of Heroes. Of the Conquest! Of the Liberation!
There may come a time. A time where all life in this world will lay dead. Where men betray their trust in their lands and the gods above, when laws and oaths meant nothing and the age of men comes crashing into dust. BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY! This day I ask you all... My Brothers! My Sisters! To follow me into the Darkness, one last time! To fight the abominations that would erase all light and hope from this world! I bid you stand as Free Peoples. As proud warriors, as Fathers, as Mothers, as Sons and Daughters! Together, we will bring the dawn!
  • In Equestria: A History Revealed, at the darkest moment of the Equestrian Civil War, when their already tired forces are about to face an charge of Nightmare forces three times their number in the Battle of Canterlot, Celestia makes a touching one to restore hope in her soldiers' hearts.
Celestia: I know the darkest hour is upon us, and I know it may seem that all times are lost. But we can’t fall here. Not one of us will fall here. For it is because of that promise we made. That we would take back Equestria together. And we will take our nation back together. And until that promise is fulfilled, we can’t fall here. We won’t fall here.
  • A Force of Four has Power Girl being trashed by a Kryptonian villain until she somehow hears her deceased cousin's voice in her head.
Maybe I shoulda let him, she snapped back at her mind-jester. Maybe I wouldn't be getting my last neck-massage now. Maybe it was useless from the start. After all, Sheol... I'm just a woman...
    <Isn't that enough?>
    A voice.
Not her own mind-voice, not that of her counterpoint-sister, but a new voice. A voice which, she had to admit, sounded a little... familiar.
    A man's voice.
<You are a woman, Kara,> said the voice. <But a very important woman. One who has been chosen to be the last surviving woman of Krypton. Beyond you, there are no more heroes of your world. Upon you lies the task of opposing its last surviving sons. For they are unworthy.>
Yeah? thought Kara. And I'm supposed to be...worthy? Because I fell into something I would never have dreamed of doing, when I was a little girl? Because my planet blew up, and I didn't blow up with it? Because I was taken out of the very best lie I ever lived in, and made to live on this... little quaint backwater planet? Because I saw my cousin die? And I never got to tell him I loved him?
<Kara,> said the voice. And she heard it clearly, despite the hands (both hands, now) wrapped about her neck, despite the pressure that would not let up, despite the fact that, within seconds, she was sure, she would cease to be the last heroine of Krypton. <Kara, I always knew. Even through all our difficulties, all our quarrels, I always knew. And, Kara... I loved you, too.>
Great Rao, I am imagining things. I am dying... and dreaming...
<Then make it the best dream you ever had, Kara. Make it a dream worth dying for.>
  • For the Glory of Irk: The Tallest are tasked with giving one in Chapter 29 to rally the Irken Empire against the Control Brains' conspiracy. They're not very good at it (mostly acting dismissive and entitled towards the smaller Irkens), so Zim steps in and gives a much more inspiring speech.
  • In Fate/VRAINS, Gilgamesh gives one to Hakuno, to break her out of her Heroic BSoD in his own Jerk with a Heart of Gold style.
Gilgamesh: Fool! Are you truly so blind? Have you learned nothing while participating in the rules of the World?! I would not show myself to you if I did not think you had the possibility of beating her. Answer me, mongrel! Who overcame all adversity and is standing before me? Who was it that achieved victory, despite having no history to call your own? Who was it that defeated that mongrel Saver? Who was it that fought with blood, sweat and tears to stand where she does now? Time and time again, you stood at a wall, and each and every time, rather than despair like some lesser fool, you chose to break down the wall with your bare hands. Your resolve is your most powerful asset. Now, tell me this. Do you still have it? The resolve and willingness to overcome this obstacle? Or will you spit on the faces and lives of those you swore you would protect? Are you so weak that you would break the one thing you hold dear?
  • In Freakin Gensokyo, Mokou gets to deliver one before she and Brad's little gang set off to clean up the Human Village:
Mokou: [...] This is our opportunity to show these bastards what the hell some of us are made of. And, supposin' we don't even find anything today, we've got tomorrow, the day after, and we've got plenty of time to do the fucking right thing for a change, and make this village safe. I hope you're all fucking ready to earn your dinky Youkai Exterminator badges, or medals or whatever the hell it is they give you for getting something done. We're gonna do our damndest.
  • The God Empress of Ponykind:
    • Dawn Sparkle gives one to her Legion at the beginning of the Siege of Manehattan.
Dawn Sparkle: Remember, you are Daughters of Manehattan. You helped to defeat the Diamond Dogs. You stood against Discord and the Changelings. And now these traitors want to come and destroy what we hold most dear. Well, they will try. And if today is the day that Manehattan falls, then let it be known that we fought to our last breath, and they did not get the satisfaction of our surrender! Let’s show these traitors that they cannot march upon Manehattan that easily! Siege Units! Fire at will!
    • Celestia gives one to her forces just before the Siege of Canterlot.
Celestia: Take heart, my Legions! The enemy before us is numerous and strong, but the division of Chaos runs deep and can be broken! Smite the enemy with bolt and sword; show them no mercy, for you shall receive none in return. Do not allow the deception of Chaos to make you weak and cowardly! Fortify yourself, and know that our stand here will see the breaking of Chaos in Equestria, and your children shall see dawn return to this land! Now, my comrades! For Equestria!
  • In Hellsister Trilogy, Colossal Boy and Supergirl are heading into Hell in a desperate bid to stop one of the worst enemies of the Legion. Noticing his partner's emotional distress, Colossal Boy tries to give an encouraging speech.
Colossal Boy: There's a thing Rabbi Tuchman used to tell us in temple. 'If we stand, God is with us. If we fall, God is still with us. So don't be afraid to fall, but do everything you can to stand.'
  • "Historical Revision" culminates in Captain Kirk being called upon to protect the planet Organia from a Klingon invasion when all he has is the barely-tested Enterprise-A and a small-scale crew;
Kirk: "I have one undermanned, undermaintained, greenhorn starship against a Klingon battle fleet."
Rassilon: "But [..] its name is Enterprise."
  • In Infinity Crisis, Bruce Banner delivers one to the Hulk (his other persona still 'hiding' after his confrontation with Thanos) by addressing a mirror:
Bruce Banner: Okay. I know we've had... issues over the years. I know I've treated you like a burden and something I've wanted to destroy but... I was fooling myself. You... You're part of me. You always have been. You always will be. I know you. And that's how I know what's happening. You got scared. You finally fought someone strong as you, someone who could beat you, someone who hurt you. That's never happened and you got scared of it. Well guess what, that happens. Fear is part of life to anyone, even you. Right now, the guy who did it is out there and we're needed. So it's time you and me stopped fighting each other and fought together. It's time we prove who's the strongest there is. What do you say?
  • In the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fanfic, It's A Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door, Rarity, of all ponies, delivers an epic speech to rally Applejack and Rainbow Dash, who are balking in the face of the last challenge of their quest, a massive World Snake.
Rarity: We have come too far- we have seen and done too much- to be turned aside now!" She stared hard at them, her deep blue eyes sparkling not with charm or delight but with barely-restrained fury. "We are not going to be turned aside! Not after everything we've been through! Haven't we crossed over mountains and plains, through rivers and forests? We have! We've won the praise of the Lady of the Shimmerwood! We'll have our names etched in the Stone of Gildedale!" She fixed Applejack with a stare. "Applejack! You faced the King of Gildedale in all his pomp, in all his pride and told him he was wrong! And you proved it!" She swiveled her gaze to Dash. "Rainbow Dash! You entered the Dreaming with the pronghorns and you mastered their lightning magic, something only one other pony has ever done! And you mastered yourself!" She took a deep breath. "And I! I looked into Lady Falalauria's eyes when they burned with fury and I told her to trust me! And she did!" She was panting. "We! Are! Not! GOING!"
  • Jaune Arc, Lord of Hunger: In a flashback, General Alixandre Arc gives a pre-battle rousing speech to Vale's army just as they are about to assault the fortress of a notorious death cult.
Alixandre Arc: Men and women of Vale! Brace yourselves for a battle the likes of which none of you have ever seen! King Osmund has tasked us with the unenviable duty of removing these blighted cultists from this world. For too long these murderers and marauders have lived under the guise of holy men and women, killing any and all for their blasphemous rituals. But no more! We of Vale are here now to stop this evil! And though it will be a grim task, one that will claim the lives of many here, know that what we do today we do not just because it was ordered, but because it is what's right! What's just! [raises sword] Now come! For death and glory! For Vale and the King!
  • Mega Man: Defender of the Human Race has ProtoMan give such a speech to the Robot Masters in episode 9, motivating them to become better fighters.
  • Played for Laughs in My Little Pony: Totally Legit Recap, when DWK, the show's creator and narrator, makes one towards Big Mac for trying to get laid of all things.
DWK: You cannot... no, you MUST not fuck this up! Because if you do, we are all of us damned!
  • Parodied in Neither a Bird nor a Plane, it's Deku!. Izuku panics when he's asked to give a speech to his entire freshman class on his first day at U.A. He gets some quick advice from All Might, who tells him to call the crowd the real winners, say something about justice, and end with a Plus Ultra. Izuku follows that advice to the letter and delivers the most cliche-ridden speech imaginable with his shaky and stuttering voice. It somehow manages to earn thunderous applause and the respect of everyone present.
Izuku:H-Hello. M-My name's Izuku Midoriya. [stops as the audience cheers] S-So! I, um, I did good-did well on the exam, really, really well. I'm not trying to rub it in, or anything! I-I'm just still really surprised by the whole thing! For the longest time, I never thought that I'd be able to go to U.A., and then I find out that I did a better job of getting in than everybody else. That-That's crazy!
Random Audience Member: You're so humble!
Izuku: T-To be honest, I'm surprised that I got in, at all. No one told us about Rescue Points, so I thought that I only managed to earn fifteen points. The whole time the exam was going on, I thought I was doing a terrible job, but I couldn't bring myself to change that. I-If someone had gotten hurt, and I knew that I could have stopped it, I, well, I don't know what I would have done. So even though you're all acting like I've done something great, I-I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all of you. That's why, if you ask me, you're the ones who are really great! You're… the real winners!
Random Audience Member #2: He's right! We are awesome! [more cheers and applause]
Izuku: Y-Yeah, that's right! It's not just about me, it's about all of us. We're all in this together; once we know that we are, we'll all be stars. All of us can show off Wisdom, Wonder, Mystery, and Entropy if we just put our minds to it. A-And if you ever think that justice isn't working, then all you have to do is... is justice harder!
Random Audience Member #3: I love it! [even more applause and cheering]
Izuku: [shaky] Plus… Ultra? [crowd absolutely explodes with applause]
  • From the third chapter of Neon Genesis Evangelion Alternate Universe Mega Crossover fanfic Neon Knights, we have one from Shinji Ikari that crosses this with Do Not Go Gentle and Dare to Be Badass delivered to his Original Generation mecha while starting it up:

  • In Once Upon a Studio: Version 2.0, Cinderella delivers her own short but very sweet one to all the other Disney characters in an effort to lift their spirits following Goofy's unfortunate accident:
Cinderella: Now, look...I know you're all dismayed by poor Goofy's accident, and we're well aware of the unimaginable pressure you're probably feeling over this grand milestone...but we share your hope that we could take this epic group photo to cap off the celebrations, and we shouldn't give up that hope.
Prince Charming: I'm sure we will find *some* way to fix this.
Cinderella: So am I. And we need only remember that even at moments like this, our dreams are *never* out of reach, and our courage and hope will always prevail.
  • In Shinji and Warhammer40k, God-Emperor Shinji delivers one to his troops:
Shinji: You are the soldiers of mankind. You are the Guardians who stand at the Gates of Hell! The dead howl for vengeance, and you must become as the Spirit of Wrath! You shall Eat War And Shit Awesome! YOU ARE DEATHWATCH! KILL TEAMS! YOU ARE THE ONES THAT MAKE THE XENOS DIE!
  • Substitute Actor:
    • There's a running gag where someone gets Ash on a topic related to killing Grimm and he goes off. The joke is, his delivery is rude enough that even Weiss tells him to tone it down.
    • The General also pokes fun at Ozpin's canon speech to the new students, noting that he keeps slurping smugly from his mug as he's talking.
  • A Taste of the Good Life has this speech, given to the staff of a restaurant (despite Pinkie not actually outranking anyone):
Pinkie Pie: Alright, listen up maggots and mag-ettes! When you walked through that door twenty minutes ago, you were strangers from different walks of life. All of you have your own reasons for being here, but for the rest of your shift, your plots belong to me! When those doors open, a horde of ravenously hungry ponies is going to come streaming in here, expecting to be seated and served food. It will be up to you, and you alone, to make sure that happens. Nopony is backing you up. Nopony is coming to help you. Unless, you know, if one of you happens to have fewer ponies in your assigned section and want to help the others out that would be the friendly thing to do. But other than that, you. Are. On. Your. Own. And do you know what will happen if you fail? They might only tip twelve percent.
(Most of the staff shudder. One mare chuckles.)
Pinkie Pie: You! Is something about what I just said amusing? Do you think you’re here to have fun?
    Mare: Ma’am, no ma’am!
Pinkie: Wrong answer! The Grassy Knoll supports a playful and relaxed atmosphere as long as the work gets done efficiently! You will have fun working here and you will like it!
    Mare: Ma’am, yes ma’am!
Pinkie Pie: Some of you might want to give up. You might think it’s all over when a table of twelve with three coliccy foals gets seated in your section. Or you may think it’s over when the customer who ordered the raw tofu chunks complains that they’re undercooked. Nothing is over until we decide it is! Or I guess until we close for the night. Or your shift ends. Or you have some sort of family emergency and have to leave after letting your supervisor know. But other than that stuff, it’s not over! Was it over when the gryphons bombed Yearling Harbor?
    Staff: NO!
Pinkie Pie: Then let’s feed some ponies!
  • In This Bites!, during his fight with Lucci, Luffy gets one not only from Cross but also from people all over the world, including all the Supernovas, Aisa, Dadan, Bartolomeo, Hancock, and Gol D. Roger himself.
  • Thousand Shinji has Shinji deliver one to Asuka in order to build her self-confidence up:
Shinji: We must learn to work together. You must learn to accept my brutal, sneaky, underhanded ways, and I must learn to accept your passionate, headstrong ways. We can complement one another wonderfully and make the battlefield our dance floor. The Evas were made to fight the Angels, so your mother died fighting them. If not for them, you would be home in Germany, going to school like a normal girl and your mother would still be around tuck you in at night. Hate them. Hate them for all they have stolen from you. Let all your sorrow turn to wrath, and if your breast be a cannon, shoot your burning heart at them. We shall make their blood flow, and we shall stack their skulls into a grand throne that shall let all know of your victory over your pain.
  • Worldwar: War of Equals:
    • For a villainous example, Atvar gives one to the Shiplords of the Conquest Fleet to get them ready for the fight against the Humans:
Atvar: "The Emperor has ordered that we take Tosev 3 and prepare it for colonization. The task will be difficult; this I admit, but we are males of the Race! Our intelligence have shown that we outnumber the natives by at least six folds! Victory can still be attained if we strike hard and without mercy. And so I say, we do not retreat, we do not give way, we proceed."
    • While we don't get to hear the whole thing, President Obama also gives one, his "The Union will hold" speech, to the American people after the Race nuke dropped on Washington D.C. It was so rousing, that it goes down in history alongside Franklin Roosevelt's "Day of Infamy" speech.
Barack Obama: America has never come under the yoke of a foreign king, and never will.
  • In Wonderful (Mazinja), Taylor used one to encourage civilians to fight Leviathan:
"So this… this is what I ask of you. It is a lot to take, especially in this moment. I know that you could run. I know that. This is scary and terrifying. I wouldn’t blame you for it. With the device you... might be able to escape. Maybe. What I’m asking for you, is to stay here... and fight.
"Fight against the monster. Fight against the flood. Fight alongside me, because I will NOT ask you to do this without putting myself in the line of fire. You will know who I am, the device will tell you. It is unfair for me to ask this. I wish this hadn’t happened, that the fight would be over and you could just go back home, I wish I could have had more time to do this PROPERLY.
She sounded progressively more desperate as she spoke... but when her voice came again, it was strong once more.
"...So I beg of you… fight with me. I cannot do this alone. We all cannot do this alone. But together, we WILL be able to drive the beast back. We WILL save everybody else in the shelter. We WILL save everybody else in the city. Together, we can be mighty. Together, we can be invincible. Together…"
    "...We can be WONDERFUL."
  • In the fanfic Zulu Squad no Tsukaima Colonel Konrad delivers one that is a callback to the video game:
Col. John Konrad: Gentlemen, I don’t need to remind you of the events that have led us here, to this moment. We’ve all had demons that we’ve left behind in our old life, and for a while, it seemed as if we would know peace. Now, once again, we’re asked to fight someone else’s battle. Once again we’re asked to fight in some bizarre world so far from our own, to fight against a fanatical enemy that wants nothing less than complete annihilation this country and everything in it. I don’t know about you, gentlemen, but I’m not about to let that happen. It’s true, the deck is stacked against us, and we face incredible odds, but this is nothing new to us. The 33rd Battalion has never been one to take the easy path. As your commander I know you will prevail, we can win this, and we will. This time, we will be the heroes. Therefore, this is the only order I give; I want you to give it your all, I want you to Hold the Line and I want you to make sure that every Reconquista soldier quiver in his boots at the mere mention of the ‘Damned 33rd’! Let’s send those Reconquista bastards broken and battered back to Albion!
  • The Day The Dursleys Came To Hogwarts:
Hermione: Quiet! It we are going to come out on top on this, we will need to strive to behave in the manor of the Houses we were put into! Gryffindors, be brave! Be strong for everyone! Slytherins, use your cunning! Find us a way through this! Ravenclaws, use your intellect! Has something like this creature every been heard of before? If so, how do we defeat it? If not, then how can we safely learn about it to get rid of it? Hufflepuffs, you have the hardest task of all! Help us all pull together with your teamwork skills! Students of Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, we can't do this without you! You come from different schools and have knowledge that our school doesn't cover! Help us if you have any idea what this thing is! We all need to work together on this for this to work!
