Kaiba and Joey duel to see who gets "the bronze medal". Meanwhile, Marik hijacks Téa's body to confront Melvin.

Tropes:

  • Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: Marik pronounces Tea's name (normally "tay-uh") as "tee".
  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Kaiba mockingly says that Joey would probably lose a duel against Mokuba, let alone himself. Mokuba takes that small bit of implicit praise as his cue to start being unnecessarily aggressive to Joey since he's finally higher on the totem pole than someone.
Mokuba: I would kick your ass, white boy!
  • Adaptational Wimp: In the original show, Joey actually does hold his own in his and Kaiba's duel even after Kaiba destroys all of his powerful monsters with his Crush Card Virus and sends Kaiba into a rage by briefly using one of his Blue-Eyes White Dragons against him. Here, he loses on the first turn... albeit a really long and complicated first turn.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Mokuba bluntly threatens to kick Joey's ass without even being provoked.
  • Brick Joke: Melvin loses his cool with the Millenium Tech Support agent when asked to activate his Millenium Rod's Wi-Fi, angrily asking why an ancient Egyptian artifact would have Wi-Fi. Apparently, that was actually the solution as we see when Marik in Téa's body confronts him.
Melvin: Wi-Fi Mode ON! (Rod activates)
  • Epic Fail: Joey loses to Kaiba in the first turn of their duel.
  • Have You Tried Rebooting?: When Melvin calls Millenium Tech Support for help with the Millenium Rod, they tell him to try and restart the Rod. Melvin gets frustrated by this advice since the Rod is an ancient magical artifact that shouldn't have an off switch.
  • Insistent Terminology: "My name. Is not. Koiba."
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: After possessing Téa's body, Marick realizes he needs to come up with an excuse to have her leave. He then loudly declares that she must go and insert several tampons into her vagina. Or else she might get pregnant!
  • Irony: A character calls tech support for their device only to reach an outsourced call center overseas, whose advice frustrates them and makes them demand to speak to someone local. Except here it's an Egyptian man wanting his ancient magical artifact fixed, and the agent is a dude from New Jersey. My, how the tables turn.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Marik lasts about five seconds in a female body before deciding to run around without a bra.
  • No-Sell: Kaiba's "The Reason You Suck" Speech, though it crushes Joey and hits Duke hard, has absolutely no effect on Tristan, who only expresses joy that he's friends with Kaiba.
  • Pun: "What can I say? I'm die-curious."
  • Rage Breaking Point: Millenium Tech Support is obnoxious enough to make Melvin want to murder people.
  • Running Gag:
    • Joey's accent keeps causing him to mispronounce Kaiba's name. Kaiba reacts by angrily correcting him.
    • Any dialogue that could loosely be interpreted as containing sexual tension results in Tristen saying "Just fuck already!" in the background.
  • Second Place Is for Losers: Yami finds the concept of people even bothering to try for third place absolutely hysterical.
  • Shout-Out: Melvin compares Tea to Dora the Explorer.
  • Stealth Insult: Kaiba assures Joey that no one would treat him any differently if he had sustained brain damage from his coma.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: Tea says some pretty... disturbing things about friendship before waking up from post-possession unconsciousness.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Kaiba gives a small one to Joey during their duel, but then delivers an absolutely brutal one to Duke, Tristan, and Joey (again!) afterwards.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Joey decides to play another children's card game immediately after waking up from the coma that his last children's card game put him in.
    • Marik one-ups him on the unintentionally suicidal scale by choosing to possess a weak teenage girl's body to confront his Superpowered Evil Side. And then he tries to physically overpower said evil side (while still a teenage girl) even though the best-case scenario of that would involve him destroying his own body and being left as a disembodied spirit.
  • Vocal Evolution: Yami notes that Tea's voice gets "less convincing by the day". This is actually an aversion since Yami was merely hearing Marik's voice coming from Tea's body.
  • Volleying Insults: Joey and Kaiba's duel involves this.
  • Why Don't You Marry It?: Tristan comments twice on a pair of arguing characters.
