On April Fools Day, Tori is upset to learn that the holiday is ignored at Hollywood Arts; she winds up having a bizarre day with random events coming out of nowhere.
Tropes
- Affectionate Parody: There are parodies of The Wizard of Oz, and Match Game.
- Almost Kiss: Between Tori and Robbie.
- April Fools' Day: The day the episode is set in, and the primary focus.
- Bizarro Episode: It has no plot whatsoever.
- The Cameo:
- Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell
- Drake Bell comes in near the beginning in Sikowitz's classroom.
- Tori says hi to Spencer Shay, who is brushing the hair of Gibby's fake head, when passing through the Shay apartment.
- Lady Gaga (not really) appears at the end.
- Friendly Tickle Torture: In her Out-of-Character Moment, Jade tickles a somber Tori in an attempt to cheer her up.
- Medium Awareness: The Wizard of Oz parody starts with a sepia tone, until Cat wakes up from unconsciousness. She even points it out.
- No Fourth Wall:
- Off to See the Wizard: The bathroom scene parodies The Wizard of Oz.
- Out-of-Character Moment: Jade is briefly nice to Tori, who is sad about April Fools Day being bypassed. It doesn't last long.
- Reading the Stage Directions Out Loud: Jade (as the Wicked Witch of the West) making her exit:Jade: The witch sneers at Dorothy, then exits. (laughs evilly, as she leaves)
- The '70s: During the Match Game parody, the gang, plus Sikowitz, wear outfits from the same time period.
- Ship Tease: The cafeteria scene looks an awful lot like Tori and Andre are on a date. Plus, Tori and Robbie almost kiss, but are interrupted after the commercial break.
- Shout-Out: The episode has lots of them:
- Parodies of The Wizard of Oz (Wizard of Wazz) and Match Game (Match the Stars) mentioned above.
- At one point, Trina demands an oompa loompa (complete with a British accent), and is dressed as such in the opening credits.
- The ending is like that of Saturday Night Live.
- Fast food chain Wendy's is referenced: "Where's the beef?!"
- As mentioned in The Cameo above, Tori runs through the living room of the Shay apartment, and greets Spencer, who has Gibby's fake head. The head also appears during "Shut Up and Dance".
- Tori's neighbor has the same name as a main character in The Beverly Hillbillies.
- Sikowitz's exploding, leaving his clothes and a coconut, is very similar to the fate of the guests of the Farm Film Report in Series/SCTV.
- The lobsters from The Amanda Show (also produced by Schneider) frequently appear throughout the episode.
