Recap / Victorious S 3 E 8

Go To

A movie shoot causes Tori's usual route to school to be extended, so she seeks help from each of her friends to find the perfect driving companion.

Meanwhile, Cat gets addicted to a coupon service.

  • Ambiguous Situation: When Jade is driving Tori to school, she ends up taking her into the middle of nowhere with a shovel in the back seat. She then starts humming a creepy song, scaring the shit out of Tori to the point where she jumps out of the car, willing to walk to school. Jade simply drives off and says "next time" to the shovel. It's unclear what she was actually planning to do with Tori, though it was possibly just a prank.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: After Cat wins Tori the party bus to take her to school the next morning, Tori makes Cat swear not to tell the others so they don't get jealous. Cat ends up telling everyone anyway.
  • Captain Ersatz: Dr. Rhapsody is clearly a parody of Sir Mix-A-Lot.
  • Chaotic Car Ride: Such is the case when Tori hitches rides with Trina, Beck, and Andre.
  • Continuity Nod: Cat and Trina previously sang "5 Fingaz to the Face" in "Tori the Zombie". There, Cat refused to sing "I'm a pirate and you're my booty" because it was dirty. Here, the line is sung by Andre.
  • Dance Party Ending: The episode ends with the gang singing and dancing to a hip-hop song on a party bus.
  • Deus ex Machina: When it seems like Tori has run out of options, Cat runs up to her and tells her she found a coupon for 90% of a 1-hour party bus ride that will take her to school the next morning.
  • Does Not Drive: As previously established, Tori needs to rely on others for rides because she herself doesn't have a driver's license.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Trina exemplifies this trope, as she shaves her legs and armpits while driving.
  • Exact Words: Charlotte asks Tori to hold her oatmeal, and when Tori agrees to, she proceeds to dump the oatmeal into Tori's hands, rather than just give her the mug she was eating it from.
  • Metaphorically True: Robbie says he has a car, but it turns out his "car" is actually just a bike wagon, leading to this exchange:
Tori: You said you had a car!
Robbie: This IS a car! The car of the future!
  • Parental Neglect: Tori cries to Holly about driving to school with Trina. While Holly appears to be helpful at first, she just distracts Tori in order to slink away and not deal with her. And before then, she makes breakfast only for herself, knowing her daughters will have to leave super early due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Unexpected Kindness: Jade approaches Tori at lunch in a friendly demeanor. Even during the drive she calls Tori her friend. However, this all turns out to be a setup so she can scare Tori by making her believe she's in danger.
