Recap / Victorious S 3 E 11

Go To

Tori encounters a strange student named Ponnie who keeps vanishing whenever other people are around. As a result, her friends begin to think she's gone insane.

Meanwhile, a makeover incident with Jade causes her to want revenge on Cat, who desperately tries to avoid her.

Tropes:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Sikowitz's description of Ponnie: "She's crazy! A loony bat! She stole things, carried weird stuff in her backpack, called everyone Debby."
  • Artistic License – Education: Trina is going to school in this episode, despite the fact is sick with a cold. If this were in real life the school would’ve sent Trina home as her cold is very likely contagious.
  • Ax-Crazy: Ponnie drove Tori crazy and tried to murder her.
  • Befriending the Bullied: Ponnie/Fawn exploits this trope, acting like a sad, friendless girl so Tori will take pity on her and try to befriend her.
  • Cassandra Truth: Because Ponnie keeps disappearing whenever other people are present, Tori's friends don't believe she exists.
  • Death Glare: Jade's default expression towards Cat throughout the episode.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: When Holly finds Tori awake in the middle of the night, she suggests that she's up because Trina is blowing her nose. Off-screen, we hear Trina blow it out and remark "Oh, it's so thick and green!". Without visuals or even context, it can somewhat be misinferred that Trina was in gastrointestinal distress.
  • Foreshadowing: Ponnie is only around when Tori is alone, and disappears when other people are present, foreshadowing her insanity with Tori.
  • Kick the Dog: Jade giving Cat a Traumatic Haircut as payback for accidentally remove her eyebrows.
  • Left the Background Music On: When Tori starts narrating what happened to her, we hear a very badly done "Careless Whisper" in the background...that's actually being played by Sinjin. Tori yells at him to stop playing his saxophone.
  • Let Me At Her!: Jade frequently tries to do this to Cat, prompting Andre and Beck to have to handcuff her to a table at one point.
  • Mugged for Disguise: Implied; the police car is driven by Ponnie, and she appears to be taking the Vega sisters...somewhere.
  • No Brows: Cat was asked by Jade to do her eyebrows, but an incident causes her to accidentally remove them whole.
  • Not Helping Your Case: While she was telling the truth, Tori telling Andre, Beck, and Robbie that Linda is Ponnie in disguise only serves to make her look more crazy as the trio never met Ponnie before and therefore had no idea what she really looks like.
  • Oh, Crap!: Cat when, while explaining to Andre and Beck why Jade's after her blood, hears a familiar voice...
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Robbie tries to reassure Jade she looks good without eyebrows. One Death Glare from her promptly shuts him up.
  • Pet the Dog: At the end of the episode when Tori gets a police escort home, she gets Trina one too after the latter texts saying she has a fever, showing she is thinking of Trina’s health. During the police ride home, Tori doesn’t mind when Trina blows her nose.
  • Sick Episode: Trina suffers a cold throughout the episode, and she keeps going to school despite it.
  • Shout-Out: Interestingly to Animal House. Fawn Leibowitz, Ponnie's real name, was also the name of the sophomore who died in the kiln explosion at Emily Dickinson College.
  • Traumatic Haircut: Cat falls asleep in study hall, leaving her to be an open target for Jade, who chops off all her hair so she's completely bald.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Jade totally lost it after her eyebrows were ripped off by Cat.
  • Wham Shot: The driver of the police car taking the Vega sisters home revealed to be Ponnie.
  • You Have to Believe Me!: Tori's problem for the episode.
