Meanwhile, Cat becomes addicted to a British food called bibble.

Tropes:

  • All There in the Script: Mason Thornsmith's assistant is named Chelsea.
  • Almost Kiss:
    • After Beck reminds Tori to just be herself, it looks like they are going to kiss after several seasons of ship teasing; however, Tori's mom walks into the room, interrupting them.
    • This happens again near the end of the episode when the two are alone at home on the night of the Platinum Music Awards; however this time its Tori who pulls back, not wanting to get together with her friends ex.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: In the episodes climax both Tori and Jade prove that, despite what they might say, they do consider each other friends. Tori admits she can't get together with Beck because he is Jade's ex, and Jade tells Tori that she can't steal a friends spot like that. While Jade tries to backhand it by tacking on an "or you", Tori clearly knows what she means.
  • Be Yourself: After seeing how miserable she is playing the part of a spoiled Prima Donna, Beck tells Tori she should be true to herself and tell Mason she wont do what he says anymore. While he initially fires her for her insolence, after Tori gets back on stage for the Platinum Music Awards in the episodes climax, and sings and acts genuine, he concedes after seeing how well it lands with the audience.
  • Extra-Long Episode: The third and last for the series.
  • Impossibly Cool Clothes: Tori is forced to wear bizarre outfits that wouldn't stand out on Lady Gaga, getting stranger and stranger, until she finally stands up to Mason.
  • Impossibly Delicious Food: Bibble, which Cat becomes addicted to.
  • Is This Thing Still On?: A positive example of this happens because Cat sets up a video chat with Tori at her house once she is kicked off the awards show. For various reasons everyone but Beck and Tori leave the call with the video chat still running. Jade comes backstage and sees the video chat and sees Beck and Tori getting closer and almost kissing before Tori turns Beck down out of respect for Jade's feelings. Tori's kindness in this moment is what ultimately leads to Jade giving Tori her spot back in the episodes climax.
  • Karmic Jackpot: After unwittingly seeing Tori turn Beck down out of respect for her feelings Jade realizes that she can't take Tori's spot in the show and, through some last minute planning, is able to get Tori onstage for the big musical number. Because of Tori's kindness to Jade she is able to perform like she was supposed to, which proves to be a big hit with the crowd, and come one step closer to making her dream come true.
  • Knew It All Along: Beck instantly figures out Mason is forcing Tori to change her appearance and personality.
  • Made Out to Be a Jerkass: Played for Drama. Mason Thornsmith has Tori act like an over-the-top diva to get more viewers for her performance. Tori reluctantly goes along but gets more guilty as the acts grow more outrageous. To make matters worse, she can't tell anyone the truth, so she can't apologize for anything she does or tell them the people she's hurting are actors or people she thinks are actors. While Tori has had a few Jerkass moments, they're so far between and not nearly as malicious as how she's acting. As a result, those she cares most about are either disappointed (Andre), confused (Sikowitz), convinced she's let the fame go to her head (Jade), or fully aware the whole thing was staged due to being too out of character (Beck). The guilt finally catches up with Tori, and she drops the whole act, which gets her fired.
  • Running Gag: Cat going high on bibble.
  • Secret Identity: Tori is not allowed to tell anyone why she has changed her look and personality, not even her family. As he puts, she cannot trust anyone but him.
  • Special Guest: Charles Schnaussey as Mason Thornsmith, with Jennifer Veal as his assistant.
  • The Prima Donna: Tori is forced to act like a spoil, arrogant, popstar after Mason pressures her to shack up her image for the "badgirl" role he has planned for her.
  • What You Are in the Dark: While at home together Tori has the opportunity to kiss Beck without any distractions. Notably she isn't aware that the computers webcam is still playing and that Jade at the awards show can see whats happening. However Tori ultimately decides that, even if Jade doesn't consider them to be friends, she doesn't think its right to get together with her ex and breaks things off before they start with Beck.
