Lucy and Haiku compete to be the new president of the Young Mortician's Club at school.

- Cheaters Never Prosper: As Lucy herself admits, having Lincoln join the Morticians Club just to tiebreak the election was a cheap trick, and she pays for it later as Ricky the Rooster's funeral goes all wrong due to the rest of the Morticians Club having turned their backs on her.
- Day in the Limelight: For Lucy.
- Dead Pet Sketch: The second half of the episode focuses on the passing of the school's rooster mascot and Lucy planning a funeral for him.
- Decided by One Vote: Lucy and Haiku end up tied for the position of president. Lucy then has Lincoln join the club so he can be the tiebreaker by voting for her.
- Did Not Think This Through: Lincoln brings chicken nuggets as catering food for the funeral, despite the funeral being for a rooster. Lucy points out how wrong and stupid that is on so many levels.
- Election Day Episode: The episode focus on Lucy competing against Haiku for the presidency of the Morticians Club.
- Epic Fail: Every one of Lucy's attempts to give Ricky a funeral go terribly wrong, culminating in her using a trebuchet to launch him into the heavens, only for his casket to get caught on the windshield of a passing airplane.

- Right Hand Vs Left Hand: When a football game starts playing on the field during Ricky's funeral, Lucy comments to Lincoln she thought he reserved the field. Lincoln replies that she said she was going to.
- Take a Third Option: After the rest of the Morticians Club steps in to help Lucy organize a better funeral for the school's mascot, Ricky the Rooster, Lucy offers to step down as club president so Haiku can have the position, but Haiku suggests that she and Lucy should be the co-presidents, which Lucy agrees to.
- Theme Tune Cameo: Lincoln hums the theme song at one point while getting books from his locker.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Lincoln offhandedly mentions that Lucy was already planning funerals back when she was only 2.
Leader of the Rack
Leni worries about her friendship with Miguel and Fiona when she's promoted to temporary manager at work.

- Actually Pretty Funny: Miguel giggling to himself when he sees Fiona with a whipped-cream mustache from drinking her iced chai latte.
- Bad Boss: Miguel and Fiona view Ms. Carmichael as this due to how strict a manager she is.
- Benevolent Boss: Leni tries to be this.
- Comically Missing the Point: When Ms. Carmichael is announcing who will be the temporary manager, she concludes her speech by handing her clipboard to Leni, who thinks she wants her to read the announcement of who the temporary manager will be.
- Companion Cube: Leni starts talking to a store mannequin when she gets stressed out from work. She takes it with her to lunch at the end.
- Day in the Limelight: For Leni.
- Portmanteau: Miguel describes Ms. Carmichael as a "drillster", a shortening of "drill sergeant". Leni describes herself as a "funager", a combination of "fun" and "manager". Both of them confuse Lori.
- Scream Discretion Shot: This happens when Miguel follows through with his claim that he'd scream if Ms. Carmichael mentioned "boxes" one more time.
- Take the Third Option: Due to being unable to decide between cheeseburgers and smoothies, Leni and her coworkers get smoothies made from cheeseburgers. They agree about how gross they taste.
- Tempting Fate: Miguel mentions how Ms. Carmichael's been making him save cardboard boxes for her so she can use them for moving. As they're walking back to work, Miguel states that if he hears Ms. Carmichael mention boxes again he would scream. Leni then receives a text from Ms. Carmichael telling them to save any boxes they can find. Miguel promptly screams.
