Recap / The Lion Guard S 2 E 24 The Underground Adventure

Go To

Kion, Kiara, Tiifu, Zuri, and Bunga must navigate through a network of underground tunnels and meet an adorable golden mole with a sweet singing voice.

This episode contains examples of:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Tiifu gets the biggest focus in this episode, portraying her as having a fear of the dark.
  • Big Damn Heroes: When Tiifu accidentally causes a cave in, Kiara's first instinct is to try to shield Tiifu from the rocks.
  • Crying Wolf: Tiifu and Zuri call the Lion Guard to complain about their fur. Fuli lampshades it with her trademark "Seriously?", while Kiara and Nala kindly, but firmly scold them on calling the Guard for such a false alarm.
  • Death from Above: Scar has the skinks bring Mzingo to drop a torch near the mud pits, which will then set the whole area ablaze.
  • Face Your Fears: Tiifu is shown having to get over her fear of the dark in this episode.
  • Kick the Dog: Bunga needlessly terrorizes Tiifu about her fear of the dark, and everybody calls him out on it.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Scar should've just let Shupavu and Njano make a single spark as it would be more inconspicuous, and Kion would not have gotten some kind of advance notice.
  • No-Sell: None of Kuchimba's attacks do anything to Kion, and in fact, they just make him sneeze.
  • True Companions: Despite Kiara being livid with Tiifu earlier when getting the Lion Guard involved in a false alarm, she is one of the first to comfort Tiifu about her fear of the dark and gives Bunga the most firm warning when he starts veering into Kick the Dog territory.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Because of the high temperature and the surrounding dry vegetation, a single spark will light the area on fire. But, Scar insists that the skinks bring Mzingo to drop a torch instead.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Kiara does this twice in the episode.
    • When Tiifu and Zuri call the Lion Guard to complain about their fur, Kiara gently hammers them for calling the Guard for such a false reason despite her orders. Nala later joins in and makes it much more clearer to them when she complains, rather than Kiara.
    • When Zuri and Bunga begin to needlessly antagonize Tiifu over her fear of the dark, Kiara really shows her anger at them.
