Jasiri forms a team of hyenas to combat Scar’s army.
This episode contains examples of:
- Contrived Coincidence: All the failures are primarily blamed on bad luck, and no one in Scar's army suspects that this looks just too much like intervention by someone else. The skinks investigate and determine who's behind them.
- Heroes' Frontier Step: For Jasiri, though she had always been a hero to begin with. Not only does she form her own heroic force against Scar in the Outlands, but she saves the life of her worst enemy in spite of the fact he tried to kill her not too long ago and even gives him a chance to join her clan.
- I Lied: Janja is forced to admit that he didn’t really kill Jasiri before, and Scar is livid.
- Kansas City Shuffle: Scar tricks the Hyena Resistance into one, as he has them led to believe Janja’s Clan will attack Mzimu Grove again, counting on them alerting the Lion Guard to ambush them; while the Guard is in Mzimu Grove, Scar’s army will instead corner the Hyena Resistance. It works all too well, as Jasiri has the Lion Guard go to Mzimu Grove, believing she’s once again foiled Scar’s plans, but she’s promptly surrounded by Scar’s army.
- Karmic Death: Narrowly averted by Janja, who is knocked into a steam vent full of rising lava, just as he nearly killed Jasiri and the cubs before. Jasiri has the decency to save him.
- Make It Look Like an Accident: The Hyena Resistance usually proceeds to sabotage Scar's operations by entrapping one of the groups with a natural disaster.
- Mass "Oh, Crap!": Scar's armynote when the Lion Guard have them all surrounded after they try and get rid of Jasiri and her clan.
- My Country, Right or Wrong: Jasiri's response when Kion offers her refuge in the Pride Lands.
- Not Me This Time: Of all the times Janja's clan has failed, their screw-ups are due to them being sabotaged and not because of them.
- Oh, Crap!:
- The second that the skinks mention Jasiri, Janja shows instant panic, as he knows where the conversation is going to go.
- Ono is shocked when he sees Scar’s Army surrounding Jasiri’s clan, realising they’ve been tricked.
- Palate Propping: Bunga ends up doing this to Kiburi after yet another failed attempt at doing one of Rafiki's martial arts.
- Pet the Dog: Downplayed since he just got done violently erupting at him, but when Janja insists his failure was bad luck, Scar politely relents and orders them to try again (albeit under Kiburi’s lead). Later, Scar shows the skinks a level of decency and respect that he does not show anyone else (since the skinks are the only ones currently not failing in their assignments). And, he only gives Janja another chance once the skinks determine there really weren't their fault.
- Redemption Rejection: After Jasiri offers Janja and his clan the chance to join hers and help defeat Scar, Janja hesitates, but refuses and runs off.
- Rousing Speech “Kwetu ni Kwetu” is essentially a song version of this, with Jasiri convincing her clan to help take down Scar’s army.
- Save the Villain: Jasiri pulls Janja out of the lava pit, revealing that she will help any hyena in need.
- Ship Tease: Jasiri playfully nudges Kion at the start of Kwetu Ni Kwetu.
- Surrounded by Idiots: Scar’s mood worsens as his minions come back after repeated failures, and then he realizes someone is sabotaging their missions, and decides to deal with the saboteurs.
- Tranquil Fury: As Janja confesses to having failed to kill Jasiri, Scar manages to keep a delicately polite tone to illustrate that he is royally pissed off, before he begins raising his voice again.
- What the Fu Are You Doing?: Throughout the episode, Bunga attempts to imitate Rafiki's martial arts by wielding a stick similar to how Rafiki wields his Bakora Staff, but every time he tries, he only succeeds in hitting himself in the head.
- You Can't Go Home Again: Played with. Jasiri's clan have to relocate to a different part of the Outlands, but they make it clear they will return home after Scar's defeat.
