This episode contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: If you're a parent, always make sure to balance your time responsibly between being with your kids and your day-to-day jobs.
  • Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering?: With their work done and Timmy at school, Mrs. Turner suggestively says they have the whole morning to do whatever they want, as a Sexophone plays.
Mr. Turner: You thinking what I'm thinking?
    Mrs. Turner: Oh, yeah!
Mr. Turner: IT'S TIME TO FIGHT CRIME! [Mrs. Turner looks disappointed] It says so in the book.
  • Clark Kenting: Mr. and Mrs. Turner wear reporter suits and glasses to hide their identities. It does not fool Timmy at all, given that he wished they were superheroes to begin with.
  • Combo Platter Powers: Among the classic Flying Brick powers, Timmy tells Cosmo and Wanda to toss in whatever else they could think of. This results in the Turners having a random grab bag of powers, like Spider Snot and Meat Vision.
  • Comically Missing the Point: After sending Timmy to school, Mrs. Turner noted that they have the whole morning to do anything they want in an incredibly flirty tone. Mr. Turner catches on... it's time to fight crime.
  • Food-Based Superpowers: The Turners have meat vision, the ability to fire whatever kind of meat they want from their eyes. At the end, Timmy's parents mistake a poofed up picnic for Timmy having picnic vision.
  • Heroic Build: Mr. an Mrs. Turner both get toned physiques when they gain their superpowers.
  • Irrational Hatred: Mr. Turner's hatred of Dinkleberg solidifies as this, as here he seems too clueless to notice.
  • Look Behind You: Timmy's parents use it twice to hide their powers.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: One of the powers the Turners get is the ability to sense when Timmy needs them. Unfortunately, it's not much good when they're too busy keeping the world safe for him.
  • Protagonist-Centered Morality: While it's understandable due to being tormented by Vicky, Timmy still tricks his parents into giving up being superheroes, regardless of all the good they had been doing. The final shot of the cartoon with the city experiencing perils exemplifies this.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Superhero Episode: Timmy wishes that his parents were superheroes so they'd be able to complete their work without being too tired to spend time with him. Unfortunately, rather than using their increased free time to spend time with him, they decide to fight crime to keep him safe, making them even busier and leaving him to be babysat by Vicky more often.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: After realizing they possess powers, the folks agree to keep it a secret, with Mr. Turner saying they have to be careful since Timmy is a sharp kid.
    Timmy: Morning, guys.
    Mr. Turner: WHAT SUPER POWERS?!
  • The Talk: After using their new superpowers to get their jobs done super quick, Timmy's parents are left with just enough time to spend with Timmy before he catches the school bus. As Timmy leaves, it's implied they had The Talk.
Mr. Turner: And that's all you need to know about where babies come from.
Timmy: But what's the machine for?
Mr. Turner: I'll tell you when you're older.
  • Taught by Television: Timmy's parents decide on what to do with their new superpowers by reading Timmy's superhero comics.
  • When You Coming Home, Dad?: Timmy's parents being in this situation kicks off this episode.
