Single-Celled Defense

Original air date: November 2, 2023

When Plankton gets sick of always being stepped on, he decides to learn self-defense from Sandy.

"Single-Celled Defense" contains examples of:

  • Agony of the Feet: Plankton's solution to not getting stepped on is wearing a helmet that fires lasers at people's feet. He uses it on Fred twice which leaves a hole in each foot.
  • Brick Joke: Sandy accidentally causes SpongeBob to fall to pieces, and takes him to the hospital as per his request. When Plankton leaves the hospital after being literally curb stomped by Mr. Krabs, he gets run over by SpongeBob's wheelchair.
  • Continuity Nod: Sandy warns Plankton that karate is to be used for self-defense only, and just like Squidward in "Squid Defense", Plankton abuses his new abilities.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Plankton makes quick work of the ninjas that Mr. Krabs hired to defend the Krusty Krab.
  • Curse Cut Short:
Plankton: Kay-rah-tay is a pain in the- Ouch!
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Plankton buys a laser gun from a salesman in a back alley. The entire thing is portrayed like a drug deal or illicit weapon sale.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: One of Mr. Krabs' foot-less legs which are covered in barnacles and bandages.
  • Lost Food Grievance: When Plankton flips Bubble Bass over, it causes him to spill his soda, which he cries over.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: After making it past Mr. Krabs's security ninjas, Plankton is about ready to use his karate skills to flip Mr. Krabs by his feet, only for Mr. Krabs to point out that he doesn't have any feet.
  • Villain Episode: An episode that focuses mostly on Plankton.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Did Sandy and SpongeBob ever find out that Plankton broke his promise and started abusing his self defense skills? After he leaves, they only appear at the very end, not noticing him.

Buff for Puff

Original air date: November 20, 2023

Mr. Krabs decides to step into the gym after being shown up by Larry at the beach.

"Buff for Puff" contains examples of:

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Mr. Krabs initially steals Larry's shell to impress Mrs. Puff, but not long after doing so, Mr. Krabs starts showing off to everyone at the beach while also ignoring Mrs. Puff.
  • Bait-and-Switch: After a week of working out, Mr. Krabs appears taller and buffer. But once he removes his robe, it's revealed he looks exactly the same. After which, Larry explains that working out takes years of commitment.
  • Balloon Belly: Both Mr. Krabs and Mrs. Puff gain massive bellies after eating fondue.
  • Continuity Nod: SpongeBob is against Mr. Krabs' plan to just fake a muscular physique by stealing Larry's shell. He's learned that this never works.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Mr. Krabs foams at the mouth and snarls like a cat after he sees Mrs. Puff thanks Larry for saving him.
  • A Day in the Limelight: An episode that focuses largely on Mr. Krabs as he tries to win back Mrs. Puff.
  • Hard-Work Montage: One occurs after Larry and SpongeBob are able to motivate Mr. Krabs into working out, using his love of money.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Mr. Krabs tries to get buff and then resorts to stealing Larry's shell just so Mrs. Puff doesn't dump him for Larry. In the end, she does exactly that because of Mr. Krabs' behavior.
  • Literal-Minded: When Larry suggests that Mr. Krabs start with the free weights, Mr. Krabs starts shoving all the weights in his clothes. After Larry tells him not to steal the weights, Mr. Krabs asks, "Well, are they free or not?"
  • Medium Blending: The fondue covered meatball that Mr. Krabs feeds Mrs. Puff is animated in live-action.
  • Romantic Spoonfeeding: Mr. Krabs and Mrs. Puff both take turns feeding each other food dipped in fondue on their beach date.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Not wanting to be recognized at the gym, Mr. Krabs wears Groucho glasses and a rainbow wig. But Larry recognizes him all too quickly.
