Big Top Flop

Original air date: 10/31/2023 (produced in 2022)

When the circus comes to town and steals away all his customers, Mr. Krabs resorts to locking away the ringmaster and the circus crew so he can sabotage the show.

"Big Top Flop" contains examples of:

  • As You Know: Mudkrab reveals to Krabs (and the audience) that his cousin is the mayor, something Krabs would presumably have known due to his years-long rivalry against him.
Mr. Krabs: Ringmaster Mudkrab? This is outrageous! You can't park your flea circus on my property!
Mudkrab: Since my cousin is the mayor, this city permit says I can.
  • Body Horror: The episode ends with Mr. Krabs and Ringmaster Mudkrab getting grotesquely fused together.
  • Circus Episode: The episode centers on Mr. Krabs attempting to sabotage the circus by having SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward put on terrible acts to ruin its reputation.
  • Insult Backfire: When Mr. Krabs calls the audience dummies, rather than be offended, the audience assumes Mr. Krabs is an insult ringmaster.
  • Lame Rhyme Dodge: Mr. Krabs wants to get rid of the new circus in town that's stealing his business away. He tells SpongeBob and Squidward that they're going to the circus to destroy it. SpongeBob cheers, then momentarily pauses and questions it. Krabs covers it up by saying that they're going to enjoy the circus.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: SpongeBob and Patrick's disguises as circus folk are recognized too quickly by the audience.
  • Pie in the Face: Part of Squidward's routine.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Krabs and Mudkrab have a longstanding rivalry, but we've never heard of Mudkrab before this episode.
  • Sad Clown: Squidward's performs as this in the circus.
  • Slasher Smile: Mr. Krabs sports one when he plans to tarnish the circus's reputation.
  • Springtime for Hitler: All the acts that Mr. Krabs has the Krusty Krew perform in the circus to tarnish its reputation only make the show more popular.
  • Sudden Anatomy: When looking at his calendar, Mr. Krabs has a finger instead of a claw.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: It isn't surprising that SpongeBob and Patrick got genuine applause for their acts, but Squidward actually getting praise is a wholesome end to his sad clown act.

Sandy, Help Us!

Original air date: 11/1/2023 (produced in 2022)

When Sandy spends the whole day solving everyone's problems, she returns home to find that one of her experiments has gone wrong in her absence.

"Sandy, Help Us!" contains examples of:

  • A Day in the Limelight: The episode focuses entirely on Sandy while SpongeBob only appears for a couple of scenes.
  • Headphones Equal Isolation: Sandy and Narlene both relax while wearing the same headphones which block out the cries for help of the townsfolk.
  • Punny Name: Pecan Sandy, a clone of Sandy made from pecans, is also named after a candy.
  • Shown Their Work: Narlene doesn't wear a water helmet in Sandy's treedome since narwhals and whales are able to breathe oxygen.
  • Title Drop: The last line of the episode is also the episode's title, which is spoken by the townsfolk while Pecan Sandy goes on a rampage.
  • Voodoo Shark: Sandy finds the Flying Dutchman shrunken and trapped in a crystal ball and asks what happened. He explains, "A witch trapped me in here!" This raises even more questions, such as why exactly why the witch did it, or why the Dutchman was interacting with any witches in the first place.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We never figure out if the Flying Dutchman got back to normal size, since he's still tiny when Sandy leaves him and he doesn't appear afterwards.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Narlene calls out Sandy for making a clone for the sole purpose of doing her chores. Sandy even admits it was a pretty bad idea.
Pecan Sandy: Pecan Sandy angry because she created me to take out her garbage!
Narlene: (to Sandy) You did what, now? Heck, I'd go on a rampage, too. What possessed you?
  • You No Take Candle: Pecan Sandy speaks this way.
