It Can't Be~! Yayoi is Changing Schools!? (known as April Fools! in the US) is the 9th episode of Smile Pretty Cure!, and the 398th episode overall in the Pretty Cure franchise.
Yayoi's April Fool's joke goes a little too far, and she loses her teammates' trust.
Tropes:
- An Aesop: Yayoi/Lily learns not to lie after her April Fool's trick gets way out of hand.
- April Fools' Plot: The episode takes place on April Fool's Day.
- Big "NO!": In the Glitter Force version, Lily shrieks one of these when her paper flies away.
- Combat Pragmatist: Akaoni and his Akanbee use dirty tactics to trick the Precure into thinking the latter is attacking one way, but inflicts damage on them with a different move.
- Food as Bribe: Chiharu lures Yayoi out of bed with a promise of hotcakes for breakfast (waffles and whipped cream in Glitter Force). Of course, this turns out to be a trick. Justified as it is a April Fool's joke.
- Ghost in the Machine: As Yayoi tries to keep a straight face when her lie is growing out of proportion, a chibi version of herself is in an utter panic and expresses what the girl really feels.
- Hypocritical Humor: Akane chides Miyuki for buying into Yayoi's intended April's Fool joke, though Miyuki retorts that Akane believed the lie as well and wanted to tell their friends about it.
- I Lied: Yayoi outright says it when she finally confesses.
- Poor Communication Kills: Yayoi tells Miyuki that she's leaving school, unable to tell her friend it's a joke as she runs off and takes Akane. Disaster follows.
