Mario games do be like that
A variety of Mario games are portrayed in their own way by many SMG4 characters, chiefly Mario.
Tropes applying for this episode:
- Boss-Arena Idiocy: Discussed in the Super Mario Bros. segment. Someone placed the axe that destroys the bridge because they thought it looked cool. Bowser is initially angry, but soon ends up agreeing that it does look pretty cool—right before Mario finds it.
- Comically Inept Healing: Dr. Mario loses all competence once he's confronted with a really dangerous disease.Dr. Mario: Okay Sir! Do you have the fever or the chills?
Monty Mole: I actually have Lung cancer.
(Beat)
Dr. Mario: So do you have the fever or the chills? - Fandom-Enraging Misconception: In-Universe, Mario is not pleased when Frankie thinks Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix copied Friday Night Funkin'.Frankie: Haha! They copied Friday Night Funkin'—
(Mario comes out of the monitor and slaps Frankie)Mario: You shut the f*ck up! - Grandfather Paradox: In the Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time segment, Mario accidentally lands on his and Luigi's past selves, causing them both to fade from existence.
- Logical Weakness: Paper Mario is easily defeated when a rainstorm hits his home.
- Negative Continuity: None of the scenes bother to follow any sort of canonicity, especially the Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time skit where Mario accidentally gets him and Luigi erased from existence when he accidentally kills their baby selves and they're fine by the next skit.
- No Plot? No Problem!: There's no real story to speak of in this episode—just a bunch of short skits recapping various Mario games.
- Rapid-Fire Comedy: The episode consists of a series of skits about Mario games, each only a few seconds long.
- Remember the New Guy?: Lampshaded in Mario Golf—when Sonny makes his appearance, everything completely stops because none of the Mario characters recognize him.
- Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer: In the Super Smash Bros. Brawl segment, Mario has become far too invested in the trophy shooting game to help his friends deal with Tabuu.
- Skewed Priorities: When Princess Peach is kidnapped in New Super Mario Bros. Wii:Mario: You mama-f***s stole my cake!
- Suddenly Voiced: Frankie is given a voice for the first time here, courtesy of Luke, who basically uses the same voice he uses for Shroomy.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
- Mario Bros.: Mario tries to hit a Shellcreeper from below, and ends up breaking his neck.
- Super Mario Bros. 2: Throwing turnips at enemies really isn't a very effective method of attack.
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars: Mario completely disregards the game's turn-based battle system in order to kill a Goomba quickly.
- Super Mario Galaxy: Mario dies from a lack of oxygen. Ditto for Yoshi in Super Mario Galaxy 2.
- Take That!: Mario isn't terribly taken with the Nintendo Labo, as he is shown sitting amongst some cardboard with an unimpressed expression.Mario: ...seventy f*** dollars.
