"Junk Junkies" provides examples of:

  • Bad Boss: The manager of Pizza Face Pizza is rude to both his partner, Wallace, as well as Mr. Bighead when the latter has to deliver pizzas to pay off his bill, constantly insulting them.
  • Bland-Name Product: Rocko's Mr. Onion Head, and Heffer's G.I. Jimbo.
  • Brick Joke:
    • Mr. Bighead argues with Rocko over how he shouldn't have to pay 25 cents for a cushioned toilet seat, then hides in his house when he sees the Pizza Face Pizza truck, implying that like Rocko, he owes them money. At the end of the episode, Mr. Bighead is seen working for Pizza Face Pizza as a delivery man.
    • At one point in the garage sale, Heffer sells the furniture in Rocko's living room to a family for $10.00. At the end of the episode, Rocko goes into his house and asks Heffer where all the furniture is.
  • Broken-Window Warning: Pizza Face Pizza throws a pizza with a threatening note taped to it through Rocko's window to remind him to pay his bill.
  • Chekhov's Gag: Heffer donates his melted G.I. Jimbo action figure to Rocko's garage sale, but Rocko worries that nobody is going to buy it. At the end of the episode, the G.I. Jimbo is bought for $500.00 by an art lover who mistakes it for a sculpture.
  • Evil Debt Collector: Rocko ends up owing $500.95 in unpaid bills to Pizza Face Pizza. Their debt collection practices start off with phone calls, but quickly escalate to breaking windows and dropping flaming pizza bombs from a plane. Their final method involves a visit from a massive thug named Wallace.
  • Garage Sale: Rocko holds one in this episode to pay his pizza bill.
  • Good-Times Montage: After Rocko sells his childhood pogo stick to pay off the pizza bill, Mr. Onion Head reminds Rocko of the good times he had with it, such as bouncing around the outback, outrunning crocodile bullies, and meeting his first girl.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When Mr. Onion Head reminds Rocko of the good times he had with his pogo stick, Rocko feels bad about selling it and buys it back with the money he was going to use to pay the pizza bill.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: One of the good times Rocko had with his pogo stick that Mr. Onion Head reminds him of is the time he outran a bask of crocodile bullies.
  • Noodle Incident: While trying to figure out how they're going to get the money they owe Pizza Face Pizza, Heffer suggests to Rocko that they rent their bodies out for scientific experiments. Rocko tells Heffer that it didn't work out the last time they did that.
  • Onion Tears: Rocko cries when he is around his Mr. Onion Head toy.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: When Rocko finds out that Heffer sold the furniture, he says, "WHERE! IS! THE! FURNITURE?!"
  • Sell What You Love: In order to get the last $200.00 he needs to pay the pizza bill, Rocko reluctantly sells his beloved childhood pogo stick to someone who offers him that money for it. When Rocko meets Mr. Onion Head, his favorite childhood toy, Mr. Onion Head reminds him of all the good times he had with his pogo stick, convincing him to use the $500.00 he earned to buy it back. Fortunately, Rocko still gets the money he needs to pay the pizza bill when an art lover buys Heffer's melted G.I. Jimbo action figure for $500.00, having mistaken it for a sculpture.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: Rocko owes Pizza Face Pizza $500.95.
  • Shout-Out:
    • This episode parodies Shane when Heffer and Wallace, a goon from the pizza company try to intimidate each other as Rocko argues with the delivery driver.
    • As Rocko and Heffer hold their garage sale, an airplane from Pizza Face Pizza writes in smoke "SURRENDER ROCKO".
  • Work Off the Debt: Anyone who doesn't pay their bill to Pizza Face Pizza has to deliver pizzas. Rocko worries this will happen to him if he doesn't raise the money he needs, and at the end of the episode, Mr. Bighead now has to deliver pizzas.

"Day of the Flecko" provides examples of:

  • Accordion Man: Happens to Rocko when Mr. Smitty presses a copy of Bunnyman Vs. the Fly, Issue 6, Vol. 4 against his face.
  • Bad Boss: Mr. Smitty forces Rocko to fix a minor mistake on every last comic book cover all night just as Rocko is about to clock out.
  • Berserk Board Barricade: Rocko boards up his window to keep the sunlight out of his bedroom so he can sleep.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Rocko yells "SHUT UP!" at an increasingly obnoxious bird who won't stop chirping loudly.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode focuses primarily on a fly named Flecko.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Rocko gets these as a result of working overtime, and when Heffer comes to his house to ask him if he's ready to go camping, Rocko's eye bags hit the floor.
  • The Face of the Sun: The sun is depicted with a mouth when he tells Rocko, "Rise and Shine!"
  • Glass Eye: Flecko's left eye is a glass eye, and he briefly loses it in Rocko's nose.
  • I Have a Family: When Rocko is about to smash Flecko with a hammer for disturbing his sleep, Flecko shows Rocko a wallet filled with pictures of his children to get Rocko to spare his life. This story touches Rocko's heart and convinces Rocko to set Flecko free, but Flecko attacks Rocko for trying to kill him, which then causes Rocko to attack back with a jackhammer.
  • Karma Houdini: Mr. Smitty receives no comeuppance for making Rocko work all night.
  • Manly Tears: Rocko cries these when Flecko convinces him not to kill him because he has a family to take care of.
  • Nose Nuggets: Inside Rocko's nose are bugs who are treated like prisoners and break Rocko's boogers with pickaxes like rocks in a quarry. Rocko manages to sneeze Flecko out after Flecko recovers his glass eye.
  • Pet the Dog: Heffer noticed Rocko was too tired for their camping trip and let him sleep.
    • When Spunky accidentally woke up Rocko when he was chasing Flecko. Instead of yelling or kicking him out, Rocko just gently pushed Spunky out of him room.
  • Rage Breaking Point: After getting extremely annoyed by Flecko, Rocko gives up on sleeping and jackhammers around his bedroom chasing Flecko.
Rocko: I DON'T WANT TO SLEEP!! I DON'T NEED SLEEP!! I AM THE WALKING LIVING!!!
  • Toilet Humor: Flecko's house is shaped like a piece of dog poop.
  • Weapons That Suck: When Flecko loses his glass eye in Rocko's nose, at one point, he uses a vacuum cleaner to suck it out. When he sucks up Rocko's bed by mistake, he puts the vacuum in reverse to put it back.
