The Rocket family, Twister, Sammy, and Tito all take a trip to the Grand Canyon. However, things take a dangerous turn and it’s up to Twister to save the day.

This episode includes examples of:

  • Aerosol Spray Backfire: Twister ends up choking on his own bug spray after accidentally spraying himself in the face.
  • Anger Born of Worry: The first thing Ray does when he sees his kids again is scold them for doing something as stupid as riding off the trail. Then, he hugs them both tightly and tells them how worried he was.
  • Blind Without 'Em: Sammy, when he loses his glasses. So much so that he mistakes Otto for Reggie when trying to talk to her. However, when we see through his POV, his vision appears mildly blurry at worst.
  • Camping Episode: The group spends their vacation biking through the Grand Canyon during the day and camping out in tents at night.
  • Circling Birdies: Stars circle his head and bird tweets are heard after Dingaling Duck’s failed Vine Swing.
  • The Cloudcuckoolander Was Right: Twister is The Ditz most of the time, but he was actually spot on with all his nature facts and the rest of the kids really should’ve listened to his advice.
  • Competition Coupon Madness: Twister tells the other kids that he got his Gung-Ho Gopher survival belt for $1 and 27 box tops.
  • Competition Freak: Despite both of them trailing far behind the rest of the biking group, Raymundo and Tito spend the whole episode trash-talking and racing each other.
  • Cub Cues Protective Parent: Otto goes up to a baby lamb to pet it, only to get the group attacked by its very angry ram mother.
  • Cue the Rain: Just when things can’t seem to get worse for the lost kids, a storm rolls in.
  • Entertainment Below Their Age: The other kids tease Twister for watching the Show Within a Show Gung-Ho Gopher, calling it lame and dorky. Tito, however, also happens to be a big fan - highlighting his One of the Kids personality.
Raymundo: Hey, didn’t you guys used to watch that show?
Otto: Yeah, when we were like eight.
  • Gassy Gastronomy: While listening to all the noises made by nocturnal animals throughout the canyon, the kids hear a completely different (and much more disgusting) sound. Sammy then apologizes and explains that he ate too much chili at dinner.
  • Group Hug: Otto, Reggie, and Twister all hug Sammy to try to warm him up after pulling him out of the river.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: When Raymundo tells the kids that a termite colony has infected the Shack and the queen termite laid her eggs in the fry bin, they all push their burgers and fries away in disgust.
  • If You Die, I Call Your Stuff: Inverted. Thinking they’re on the brink of death, Otto tells Reggie she can have his skateboards and music collection.
Reggie: Thanks, Rocket Boy, but I think you’re forgetting that I’m gonna be history too!
  • Ignored Expert: Despite being correct every time he uses the survival information he learned from Gung-Ho Gopher, Twister’s advice is completely ignored when the kids get lost, much to their detriment.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Unlike the other kids who are excited for a vacation filled with mountain biking and freedom, the part of the Grand Canyon trip Sammy is most looking forward to is seeing the centuries-old rock formations.
  • Inevitable Waterfall: After the kids decide to go biking off the trail, Sammy wipes out on his bike and falls into a river which, of course, ends in a waterfall.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Sam reassures the rest of the kids that Ray and Tito will do better with keeping up with them on the second day of the trip. Cut to the two men trailing behind the rest of the group yet again.
Otto: Man, they’re even slower today than yesterday!
  • Jerkass Ball: Otto is a major asshole to Twister in this episode. Reggie and Sam may not care for or believe his Gung-Ho Gopher references, but Otto is downright mean about it. Then, when Twister ends up having been right all along and literally saves all of their lives, Otto doesn’t even offer him as much as a simple “thank you” or “sorry”.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Despite criticizing Twister for his supposed lack of nature knowledge, Otto’s really the one who spends the whole episode acting like he knows more than he really does and getting the kids into even more trouble.
  • Look Behind You: Raymundo uses this trick to distract Tito so he can get a head start on their (very slow) one-on-one mountain biking race.
  • Museum of Boredom: Ray pranks the kids by telling them they’re going on an educational vacation this summer to the Botany Museum in Gopher City, Nebraska. They’re very relieved to learn they’re going mountain biking in the Grand Canyon instead.
  • Never Say "Die": After Sam is saved from nearly going over a waterfall, he thanks his friends for saving him from "biting the big one".
  • No Escape but Down: Cornered by a protective mother ram, the kids have no choice but to go skateboarding on their stomachs down the side of the steep canyon wall.
  • The Nose Knows: Subverted. It looks at first like Tito is tracking the kids with his nose, as he sniffs around and tells Ray that they were in the area. It turns out it was just because he found Sammy’s glasses.
  • Occidental Otaku: One of the reasons Otto thinks Gung-Ho Gopher is lame is because it’s not Japanese.
  • Only One Finds It Fun: Sammy is the only one who’s excited about the idea of going to a botany museum in Nebraska for vacation.
Sammy: What? It’s supposed to be awesome. They’ve got a giant cocoon there!
  • Reverse Telescopic Vision: Looking through his binoculars, Twister reacts in shock at how far away Ray and Tito are. Sammy then points out that he’s looking through the wrong end.
  • Spooky Animal Sounds: The kids get scared when they hear creepy noises as they get settled into their sleeping bags for the night. Twister is able to identify all the animals making the sounds thanks to being an avid Gung-Ho Gopher fan.
  • Vacation Episode: In this episode, the Rocket family and their friends go on vacation to the Grand Canyon.
  • Watch Out for That Tree!: Dingaling Duck does a Vine Swing right into a tree on the Gung-Ho Gopher show.
    • Sammy also runs into trees several times after he loses his glasses.
  • You Are What You Hate: As Reggie complains about all the shoobies on the bike trail, Sammy points out that they’re tourists at the Grand Canyon too so technically they’re shoobies as well.
