Tropes

  • Acting for Two: Of the Identical Stranger variety. Valerie Vernon apparently doesn't have a convenient twin sister, as the camera work is careful to never show Kendrix's and Carolyn's face in the same shot at the same time. Even when they're having a conversation with each other, the camera keeps cutting back and forth, looking at the face of the one who's currently talking, from a perspective behind the other one's back.
  • Agony of the Feet: Or rather leg in Kendrix's case in this episode due to Wisewizard injuring her leg with a magic paper which causes her pain during her film shooting when acting in Carolyn's place. Carolyn pretends to have this in her ankle to avoid her busy schedule.
  • An Aesop: It's important to keep a promise and while sometimes it can be difficult, nothing is impossible.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Carolyn says this when her agent asks Kendrix to act in her place.
  • Call-Back: The movie they're filming is called Star-Crossed Lovers, which was a film that the girls in In Space wanted to go see in one episode. (Maybe they're doing a sequel?)
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Even though Carolyn is just someone who looks like Kendrix, and is not the Pink Ranger, she still wears pink as a signature wardrobe color, just like Kendrix.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Kendrix initially declined to act in Carolyn's place in her movie shoot saying she's not an actress and Carolyn's agent with a chuckle tells her neither is Carolyn.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Carolyn
  • Determinator: Kendrix refused to give up on her promise of acting in Carolyn's place, even when having to walk with an injured leg and Carolyn suggesting she should quit. And Kendrix managed to do a romantic scene. Much to the film director's delight and Carolyn's surprise.
  • Don't Sneak Up on Me Like That!: While filming, Kendrix's co-star's character comes up behind her and gently puts a hand on her shoulder, as a part of the scene being shot. She immediately responds with a Kiai, grabbing his wrist and flipping him, to the horror of the production crew, then immediately apologizes, saying it was "a reflex."
  • Enforced Method Acting: In-Universe: Kendrix's pain from her injury helped with the big kiss scene.
