Go To

After Jane vetoes a story on Bigfoot, Amelia decides to investigate it anyway, as a new monster attacks the city.

Tropes:

  • Aesop Amnesia: Even after previously learning not to be a jerk toward Amelia about her belief in the supernatural, Ollie still taunts her about it at the end of the episode. He stops when she explains just why she believes so hard.
  • An Aesop: Don't break the rules just because you think it's a good idea.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Amelia interviews Pop-Pop about his work at Area 62, hoping it'll give some big scoop on the place. He gears up to tell her about how... he never saw anything. Because he was just the janitor. Even when it looks like he might have seen something, he admits it was just one of the scientists.
  • Batman Gambit: The final scene reveals that the whole jailbreak was just Zedd's way of keeping multiple Rangers distracted so that he could recruit Scrozzle.
  • Berserk Button: Lothorn really doesn't like it when his giant feet are insulted.
  • The Bus Came Back: Commander Shaw reappears to contact the Dino Fury rangers on the breakout at Coral Reef. The final also reveals that Zedd is back.
  • Call-Back: When the team learns just who staged the breakout, Zayto brings up how the Green Morphin Master told him about Zedd's predicted rise.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: The supposed Bigfoot glimpsed in the footage that Amelia's friends obtained turns out to be Lothorn.
  • Comical Overreacting: Pop-Pop keeps overreacting to the threat of radiation poisoning.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • As he's punched into space, Lothorn comments "I can see Angel Grove from here!"
    • Lothorn proudly boasts that his uncle was Lokar.
  • Dramatic Irony: Jane wants to keep on the story of Area 62, as her journalists' intuition feels there's something big about it. She has no idea how right she is considering it's currently serving as the villain's headquarters.
  • Evil Laugh: Zedd is doing this in the security footage before taking out the camera.
  • Group Hug: The entire team gives Amelia one when she reveals the reason for her obsession with the supernatural.
  • Hero of Another Story: The Beast Morphers team appear using stock footage representing them dealing with their own problems over in Coral Reef.
  • Internal Reveal: The Rangers' finally learn that Amelia's parents disappeared when she was a child, and that's why she's drawn to mysteries.
  • Lampshade Hanging: When advocating breaking the rules for the sake of a story, Amelia says she does it all the time and that it usually works out. This time, she learns why that is a bad idea.
  • Little "No": Ollie's reaction to the security footage showing Zedd masterminded the breakout.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Amelia insists on breaking the rules to pursue the story and shows Stan and Annie her files, which includes a drawing of Dinohenge. As a result, Stan and Annie go snooping and end up in the crosshairs of Lothorn. This is what teaches Amelia a lesson about obeying the rules.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: Zedd's first order of business? Send a monster to depower the Dino Fury Rangers.
  • Not Me This Time: This week's episode has nothing to doing with Void Queen or the Sporix. They don't even make a single appearance.
  • The Reveal: Lothorn's new boss? Zedd, who broke into Grid Battleforce so he could find and free Scrozzle.
  • Space Whale Aesop: Follow the rules unless you want to walk in the crossfire of an alien attack.
  • Wham Shot: Recovered security footage shows Zedd causing the breakout.
