Recap / Power Rangers Cosmic Fury E 4 Team Work

Go To

With coordinates from Mick, the Rangers go find Zayto's last known location. However, Ollie is also after Zayto.

Episode Tropes:

  • Adaptational Dumbass / Adaptational Wimp: Of the four monsters that Ollie has to work with, Krymzo is a particularly strong example of these tropes, as his appearance is taken from the Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger villain Scorpio. While Scorpio was a high-ranking general in the Jark Matter power structure who betrayed his own people, murdered subordinates for their failures, and mentally and emotionally tortured his own younger brother to get what he wanted, Krymzo is a lower-ranking minion who took a nap instead of making sure the shields were up and prefers dancing with his teammates over searching for Zayto. Scorpio is also The Dreaded not just for his villainy, but for his sheer skill and power in battle. Krymzo is destroyed by Javi in his first fight scene.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: An interesting variation with Ollie. While corrupted, his personality is not much different from his normal self, and he still has all of his memories. Thus, he understands that teamwork is an effective strategy in battle, but the reasons why (i.e. The Power of Friendship) no longer compute for him. According to Zedd, his failure boils down to the fact that he tried to apply a hero's strategy to a villain's goal. If Ollie is ever going to reach his fullest evil potential, he must discard his Ranger training and embrace his inner darkness.
  • Evil Costume Switch: We learn what was in the box that Zedd and Scrozzle gave to Ollie last episode: a villainous upgrade to his Blue Dino Fury powers. The torso of his suit is covered in Spikes of Villainy, accented by sinister-looking triceratops shoulder pads. The lightning bolt design from the Dino Fury suit is outlined in red, and the belt features the cephalopod logo for Ollie's new masters, Squid Ink Inc.
  • Evil Mentor: Lord Zedd sees great potential in the evil Ollie, and begins grooming him in the ways of villainy.
  • Genius Loci: Levvina is mostly one giant forest where all of the plant life is interconnected as one giant Hive Mind. Amelia and Aiyon are able to use their telepathy to communicate with the forest and explain that they mean no harm.
  • Good Is Not Soft: The sentient forest is benevolent enough to decide to heal and protect Zayto after he crash-lands on the planet, but does not react well if you try to pick its fruit, or worse, stomp on the plants.
  • Nature Is Not Nice: The entire planet's vegetation is not keen on being attacked or getting its fruit picked. But if you treat it right, it will not attack you.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Ollie is in the unenviable position of being the Token Competent Minion, in the company of monsters who'd rather have a dance party or rush blindly into battle.
  • Wham Line: The sacred tree that healed Zayto says to "enjoy your time you have left".
