Recap / Power Rangers Cosmic Fury E 10 The End

Go To

The Rangers try to use everything they have left to stop Bajillia Naire from unleashing the Zedd Wave or else all good will be erased.

Episode Tropes:

  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: Zayto becomes a Morphin' Master.
  • Back for the Finale: Zordon, in the form of Zayto, reappears for the final episode of the original continuity.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Slyther and Mucus hijack a Squiddrone to stop Bajillia and Squid Ink Inc. from unleashing the Zedd Wave and save the Cosmic Fury Rangers.
  • Big "NO!": Bajillia's final words before the Rangers use the Cosmic Blaster to finish her off.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Zedd is defeated, the Morphin' Masters are free, it's implied that Zordon is still out there, and life goes back to normal for the Cosmic Fury Rangers. However, Zayto is now a new Morphin' Master, and he must leave his friends behind for good.
  • Book Ends:
    • Zordon's ubiquitous catchphrase of encouragement to the Rangers, beginning with the original Mighty Morphin', "May the Power protect you" is said by Zordon himself, taking the form of Zayto. Further bringing the original continuity of the franchise as we know it to a close.
    • Dino Fury starts with Amelia racing towards Dinohenge to hunt ghosts. Cosmic Fury ends with her wanting to help Billy find Zordon, whom Mick proclaims is a ghost.
  • The Bus Came Back: After last appearing in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy and Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue respectively, the Astro and Galaxy Megazords return.
  • But Now I Must Go: Zayto departs with the other Morphin' Masters at the end of the episode, although he does return to watch Javi's concert.
  • The Cameo:
    • Minh appears behind Billy in the Megazord, though her presence is not acknowledged.
    • Santaura appears in a photograph sent to Amelia's phone with her new daughter.
    • Rita Repulsa appears as an illusion in Zedd's nightmare on Nibyro.
  • The Cavalry: With the Rangers' Cosmic Fury Zords destroyed and surrounded by legions of Squiddrones with only Slyther and Mucus being able to fight back with their hijacked Squiddrone. Billy not only comes to help the Rangers with the original Megazord, but he also brings help in the form of other Megazords: the Astro Megazord, the Galaxy Megazord, the Ninja Blaze Megazord, and the Beast-X Megazord, who all make short work of the armada.
  • Continuity Nod: Zayto's last words, and the final words of the series, is the same catchphrase Ollie taught him. "Cool, cool, coolio."
  • Chekhov's Gun: On entering the Grid, Aiyon thinks it might be the planet Nibyro again, setting it up for Aiyon and Zayto to use it to defeat Zedd.
  • Didn't See That Coming: None of the Morphin' Masters knew that Zayto would be reborn as one of them.
  • Evolving Credits: One last change to the opening sequence for the final episode: Kai Moya's credit now depicts Ollie in Cosmic Fury Blue Ranger form instead of Evil Dino Fury form, and he's finally smiling again.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Lord Zedd's final fate is stuck in his worst nightmare on the planet Nibyro: being forced to cater to his nagging wife Rita Repulsa. However, the possibility is raised that he might, with time, actually reform.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Since this season takes place timeline-wise before Power Rangers S.P.D. (let alone the year 3000), it was obvious that the Grid wouldn't be compromised by the Cosmic Fury team's plan and Rangers everywhere would still have their powers. This also means that Bajilia's plan to destroy all that is good in the universe will not succeed.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: The "Zayto" Aiyon meets in the Grid explains that it isn't his usual appearance, but rather the Grid giving him a body based on Aiyon's memories. It's later revealed that this is actually Zordon, through his final words of "May the Power protect you".
  • Grand Finale: With the announcement that producer Jonathan Entwhistle plans to reboot the franchise, Power Rangers as it was known ends here, wrapping up with 30 years and 973 total episodes (974 if one counts Once and Always as an episode).
  • He's Back!: Episode 3 showed Javi struggling to play his guitar with his new hand. While Episode 5 had him playing again, the final scene of this episode confirms that his injury is not slowing down his music career, as he plays his new song in concert, with his fellow Rangers cheering him on backstage. The guitar solo feels particularly triumphant.
  • Karma Houdini: Scrozzle manages to escape to hench yet again.
  • Meaningless Villain Victory: An in-universe example. In Zedd's nightmare on Nibyro, he's defeated the Rangers but instead of ruling the universe, he's forced to spend eternity being bossed around by his wife Rita Repulsa.
  • Mythology Gag: The title calls back to the title of the finale of Power Rangers Wild Force, "The End of the Power Rangers", named after the assumption that Power Rangers would be canceled by Disney. With Cosmic Fury, this truly is the end to the original continuity.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: The Ranger evoke this in order to convince Zedd to willingly give up the power of the Morphin' Masters.
  • The Reveal: Billy learns that Zordon is still alive, which is a great reassurance after what happened in Once and Always.
  • Sequel Hook: While this episode ends the original continuity, there are still plenty of stories left untold like Scrozzle's exit and Billy knowing that Zordon is still alive and going off to find him.
  • Something Only They Would Say: When Billy learns from Aiyon that "Zayto" told him, "May the Power Protect You", he comes to the conclusion that it was Zordon who emulated Zayto.
  • Spock Speak: The "Zayto" Aiyon meets has a much more reserved and formal manner of speaking than the actual Zayto.
  • Talking the Monster to Death: Since fighting Zedd inside the tube is a no-go, Zayto instead convinces him to depart and give up the power he had of his own free will.
  • The End: The title of the episode, and essentially the end of the original continuity.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: Inside Zedd's containment tube, time works faster, allowing the Rangers to have a chat with Zedd before the crack becomes unstoppable.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Ollie's reaction when Bajillia is defeated but her discarded blaster manages to get off one last shot and crack the tube anyhow.

Cool, cool, coolio.
