Cosima takes a turn for the worse, forcing Sarah to take desperate action – with tragic consequences for those she loves. The Proletheans set their ultimate plan in motion. Alison and Donnie tangle with the law.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Henrik's treatment of his daughter Gracie is horrifying. He artificially inseminates her with embryos that are biologically his and shoves her back in a cell when she tries to escape.
    • The Prolethean child caregiver harshly rebukes one of her charges, a little girl, for touching Helena.
  • The Atoner: There are elements of this to Delphine’s behavior, desperate to prove to Sarah, Felix, and Mrs. S that she can be trusted despite being a fully aware monitor. She makes no argument when Siobhan acts as a Grandmother Bear and prevents her from having any participation in Kyra’s procedure while also ensuring that she’s under constant guard.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Alison and Donnie at the end of the episode. Nothing like burying a body underneath the garage floor to bring a couple together.
  • Berserk Button: Do not abuse children in front of Helena.
  • Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: Helena (blonde) threatens caregiver Alexis (brunette) for scolding a child, while Gracie (redhead) looks on.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Gracie finally stands up to her father and screams at him for abusing her and using her as a broodmare.
  • Disposing of a Body: Alison and Donnie bury Leekie in their garage.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Donnie is useless with the jackhammer, so Alison takes over and has no problem using it.
  • Enemy Rising Behind: Henrik is so busy berating Mark and Gracie that he's unaware Helena - who he'd thought he'd KO'd with the butt of his shotgun - is right behind him, ready to pounce.
  • Fiery Cover-Up/Kill It with Fire: After violating Henrik and stealing her eggs back, Helena burns the Prolethean compound to the ground.
  • Foreshadowing: Rachel puts on a street jacket (with hoodie) while reviewing tapes of her and her father. Part of her preparation for her to kidnap Kira by posing as Sarah.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Scott slips into this when he thinks he's failed to unlock the infertility gene sequences.
    "Oh, shoot darn!"
  • Groin Attack/Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Helena stabs Henrik with the AI needle where he had used it on her.
  • Instant Sedation: Rachel, posing as Sarah, jams a hypo into Felix's neck to knock him out.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Donnie, after busting Angie and Vic for their unauthorized surveillance of his house.
    "Have a shitty day!"
  • It's All About Me/Narcissist: Heavily implied with Henrik, who believes he's entitled to impregnate many women with Helena's eggs because she a "scientific impossibility". All of them were fertilized with his sperm because, in his mind, he's the only man worthy of being their father.
  • Karmic Death/Laser-Guided Karma: Henrik impregnated his daughter with the eggs he stole from Helena, so Helena stabs him with the same needle he used to take them.
  • Kick the Dog: A Prolethean midwife/caregiver physically and verbally abused a young girl for touching Helena's hair. Helena pushes the woman up against the wall and sets her straight.
  • Medical Rape and Impregnate: Henrik forces Gracie, his own daughter, to carry Helena's children. What's worse is that he's the father of the embryos.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Delphine experiences this when she realizes Rachel manipulated her so she could kidnap Kira.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Delphine goes to Sarah to warn her that one of the Birdwatchers might have defected to the Dyad. This allows Rachel to go into the hospital disguised as Sarah and kidnap Kira. It turns out in the end that the information Delphine found about the defected Birdwatcher was planted for her to find and is also completely false.
  • No Endor Holocaust: The burning of the Prolethean compound. Word of God confirms that Helena helped everyone who wasn't involved in the cult's dark dealings escape offscreen.
  • Revenge by Proxy: While he's also working with Angie, at the end of the day Vic's obsession with tormenting Alison really just comes down to the fact that he's pissed at Sarah, and Alison both looks like her and is (apparently) much weaker in comparison.
  • Squick: In-universe. Donnie is vocal about his discomfort at having to get rid of Leekie's corpse.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Donnie, with Vic and Angie.
  • Twin Switch: Rachel pulls off her first clone swap by pretending to be Sarah to kidnap Kira.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Rachel, sipping a martini, screens the home movie of her younger self playing with her parents - and her emotions whiplash from laughing hysterically to sobbing to slapping her face while muttering "Stupid, stupid, stupid."
  • Wham Episode: Helena practically neutralizes the Proletheans, Kira donates her bone marrow for Cosima's procedure and Rachel kidnaps Kira.
  • Wham Shot: Incoming Caller: Sarah Context
