A new player in the clone conspiracy turns up at Felix’s door, sending him into crisis mode. With Cosima running out of options, Sarah struggles with the decision to surrender a crucial piece of leverage and make a deal with Dyad.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Donnie apologizes to Alison for spying on her, lying to her, trying to leave their family in the middle of the night, and hating her mother.
  • Blood from the Mouth: Cosima's coughing worsens until she eventually has a seizure.
  • Call-Back:
    • A painting Felix was working on earlier appears completed.
    • Kira makes more angel paper figures and mentions they reminds her of Helena.
    • Tony echoes Beth's line from the videotape Sarah watched: "You're damn right."
    • Cosima makes good on her Season 1 promise to get Delphine "soooo baked."
  • Chekhov's Gun: "The Island of Doctor Moreau". Dr Duncan reads it to Kira, then later mentions that he used to read it to Rachel. Then later reveals that his copy is full of notes related to his work.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: Sammy dies in Tony's arms from a wound to the abdomen.
  • Easily Forgiven: Averted. Though Cosima loves Delphine, she is still upset about the number of things Delphine did behind her back. At one point she even locked Delphine out of their lab. Even when they reconcile, Cosima tells Delphine that if she betrays her or any of the other (non-Rachel) clones again, Cosima will ruin her.
  • Foreshadowing: When Felix first brings up Tony, Sarah initially thinks he's taking about one of another set of clones who are male rather than a trans man clone. Come the finale...
  • Green-Eyed Monster: It's implied that Rachel is envious of Sarah's fertility.
  • Helium Speech: Cosima and Delphine get stoned and have fun with a tank of helium.
  • Irony: Rachel spent the whole time wondering why Sarah succeeded in having a child and how to become fertile herself when due to Amelia running off with her and Helena, they are actually failures. The clones are supposed to be sterile.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Donnie gets wasted after killing Leekie and disposing of his body.
  • I Will Only Slow You Down: In the opening Tony's wounded friend, Sammy, tells Tony to run away without him.
  • Mood Whiplash: Cosima has some fun playing a D&D-like tabletop game then goes into a sudden coughing fit. Then Delphine shows up and shares her suspicions about the circumstances of Leekie's death.
  • Not So Stoic: Played with. Rachel acts cool and calm on the outside when Ethan tells her that the clones were meant to be infertile, but she throws a huge tantrum in her mind-place.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Scott has a subtle but clear one when he learns that Cosima is the clone subject he's been working on.
    • Alison understandably freaks out when she learns that Donnie used her gun to kill Leekie and put it back in her locker.
  • Out of Focus: As with the episode previous, Helena is absent. Paul has also apparently disappeared.
  • The Reveal: The clones were all meant to be barren by design. Sarah's (and by extension, Helena's) fertility is a mistake.
  • Tabletop RPG: Cosima discovers Scott and his fellow Dyad techs are Rune War players. She promptly sits in - and pwns them all.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The shot of Cosima collapsing was included in the preview. Said preview also appears on the DVD, so you'd have to actively try to avoid it.
  • Trunk Shot: Alison and Donnie examine Leekie's corpse in the trunk of his car.
  • Very Special Episode: While not as anvilicious as other examples this episode certainly qualified. It introduces Tony, a clone who is a trans man, and the majority of the plot consists of him discussing this with Felix. After his arc is resolved, he packs up his bags and isn't even mentioned in any of the following episodes.
  • Wham Shot: Kira opens the book Ethan Duncan had been reading to her earlier, revealing that it's full of crucial scientific information about the clones.
  • You Remind Me of X: Kira reminds Ethan of his daughter Rachel.
