Season 10 Episode 6 to 7

"Season 10 continues here! Twilight Sparkle is throwing the first Festival of the Two Sisters since Celestia and Luna left-and she calls in the best party planner she knows to help: Pinkie Pie! So, of course, Pinkie reaches out to the best party planner she knows: Cheese Sandwich! Could that be... romance in the air? But wait-who turned off the sound?!"
These issues contain examples of:
- Accidental Misnaming: Discord calls Pinkie "Plinkie" when they meet at the train station.
- Aesop Amnesia: Twilight is insistent that everything has to be "perfect". She seems to be forgetting the lesson she learned about pursuing perfection in "The Point of No Return".
- Ambiguous Time Period: This seems to take place some time after the friendship missions Twilight put together in #89, where Twilight sent her friends to reach out to the lands beyond Equestria - even though only one of those missions has been seen so far.
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Cheese is about to ask Pinkie something, only to be distracted by the giant sinkhole that was recently formed in the streets of Canterlot.
- Botanical Abomination: The Muffletta Moss. In small quantities, it can keep things quiet. But sunlight and water makes it multiply exponentially, and muffle practically all sound in the area where it grows.
- Bystander Syndrome: Discord is conspicuously absent throughout the mess with the Muffletta Moss. When he shows up at Twilight's speech, Fluttershy asks where he's been, and why he didn't help. Discord replies that he was following Fluttershy's advice that "doing things for ourselves is important", and let them solve the problem themselves (that, and he felt it was funnier to do nothing).
- Call-Forward: This storyline is setting up what was seen during the Time Skip of "The Last Problem", specifically, the part where Pinkie and Cheese were shown to be a married couple.
- The Cameo:
- Derpy, Sweetie Drops and Lyra Heartstrings are in the audience for Pinkie and Cheese's comedy show.
- Coco Pommel appears during Twilight's speech.
- Can't Spit It Out: Pinkie struggles to tell Cheese how she feels about him.
- Cheer Them Up with Laughter: Pinkie, seeing how depressed Cheese is over accidentally causing the silence, plays in the puddles with him to make him laugh. This causes them to realize that the Muffletta Moss can't neutralize genuine laughter.
- Cliffhanger: At the end of #94. Just as Pinkie finally decides to confess her feelings to Cheese, the entirety of Canterlot ends up being robbed of all sound by some unknown force.
- Continuity Nod:
- When Pinkie asks why Discord is riding a train, Cheese chips in by saying he likes them. Discord last rode a train in Issue #50's sidestory "For the Pony Who Has Everything".
- Pinkie and Cheese explore the crystal caverns beneath Canterlot. The caverns were first seen in "A Canterlot Wedding -- Part 2".
- After watching the now-silent Canterlot fall into chaos, Twilight uses the breathing technique Cadance taught her in "Games Ponies Play" to calm herself.
- Crush Blush: Pinkie and Cheese blush around each other several times.
- Damned by Faint Praise: Twilight is dismayed when Pinkie states that her plans for the festival is a "solid start".Twilight: A solid start?! A solid start?! That's what Celestia used to tell me when I was nowhere near done with my homework. That's the worst thing you could have said!
- Feather Fingers: Rainbow Dash gestures with one of her feathers while miming her idea to use the Sonic Rainboom to try and break the silence.
- The Glomp: When she first sees Cheese, Pinkie hugs him so tightly that there is a "crack!" sound effect. Cheese tells her that she just fixed a kink in his back.
- Good Is Boring: Discord complains that being good means he can't do or create anything.
- Hurricane of Puns: Invoked after Pinkie saves Cheese from falling in the crystal caves.Pinkie: Come on. Let's go back up top. I think we've seen everything we need to. And then you can tell everypony about your nice trip.
Cheese: It was mostly fall-derol.
Pinkie: I can't take this pun-ishment.- And another exchange in the finale.
Cheese: That was quiet the adventure we had.
Pinkie: That's a sound observation, Cheese. - It's All My Fault: Cheese blames himself for all the silence, well aware that he accidentally brought the Muffletta Moss to the surface with him.
- Kill It with Fire: Played for Laughs; One of the strategies for dealing with the moss written on Twilight's idea board is "Maybe a lot of fire?"
- Literal-Minded: When Pinkie suggests they stay away from anything "strange or magical", Cheese covers his eyes, telling Pinkie that she herself is strange and magical.
- The Matchmaker: Twilight, realising how many times Pinkie is mentioning Cheese's name while suggesting ideas for the festival, offers to call him in to help her.
- No-Sell: Rainbow Dash tries to use her Sonic Rainboom to break the silence, but it proves ineffective.
- Pun: When Twilight asks if Pinkie can save the celebration, Pinkie claims that it'll be a "saveabration".
- Shout-Out:
- The story arc's title is lifted directly from the song "Something There".
- The "Weird Al" Yankovic references continue with Cheese Sandwich. At one point he sees a good place for an ice cream stand and gets a craving for ice cream, mentioning that "I love rocky road". This is the title of one of Weird Al's songs.
- Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion: Pinkie makes her Dynamic Entry by saying "Have no fear, Pinkie Pie has arrived!" She then acknowledges that she got the rhyme wrong, and asks for a re-do.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Cheese Sandwich. When he and Pinkie decided to explore the newly-formed sinkhole, he accidentally stepped in some of the Muffletta Moss and brought it up to the surface, where it grew out of control.
- Verbal Backspace: When Twilight offers to call in Cheese, Pinkie starts to say it'll be great to see him, before quickly changing it to "have [his] help" instead.
- Weaksauce Weakness: The Muffletta Moss can neutralize all sounds except for that of genuine laughter. That sound is also lethal to it, causing the moss to wither and die.
