"Santa is allowed to make one exception, but only for the best-behaved kid in the whole world."
Marinette

Inspired by a story from Marinette in which the best kid in the world gets their Christmas present early, an impatient Chris Lahiffe is akumatized into Christmaster, a toy master who is looking for Santa.

  • All Just a Dream: Marinette hoped this was the case when she saw snow and animated toys around Paris. No such luck, and Tikki convinces her to transform.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It is left up in the air whether or not Santa Claus was real or if he was a construct created by the narrative Christmaster's powers adhered to.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: When Ladybug comments on how weird the situation is, Cat Noir replies that it can't be any different than fighting a Pharaoh's reincarnation or a pigeon overlord empowered by magical butterflies.
  • Badass Normal: Phillipe uses his ice skating skills to take out a bunch of man-sized army men. Sadly, the T. rex toy is out of his weight class and catches him.
  • Big "NO!": Hawk Moth has an amusing one, shot from above, when Christmaster surrenders his akumatized snow globe.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Chris's initial appearance has him throwing a tantrum because everything Marinette tries to steer him toward is - in his words - for babies. As Christmaster, he’s even worse.
  • Catchphrase Insult: Chris uses "babies" a lot as a general insult. So does Christmaster, who also calls people “dum-dums”.
  • Chekhov's Gun: All the toys that spill from Chris's bag at the beginning of the episode end being used by him as Christmaster. Santa and his sleigh were also in the snow globe before they appear in Paris.
  • Christmas Episode: Although it's not Christmas at the time, Chris wants to have Christmas early so he could get a present early.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Marinette's dolls from "The Puppeteer" return.
    • The BFS used by Toy Ladybug is the exact same one that was first used by Chloé in "Antibug", then by Nightmare Ladybug in "Sandboy", and by Sabrina in "Miraculer".
  • Crazy-Prepared: Marinette has made Adrien enough presents to cover his next 35 birthdays and starts to work on one for his 50th.
  • Dream Reality Check: When Marinette sees an army of toy soldiers marching through the snowy city, she thinks she’s dreaming and tries to go back to bed. However, Tiki pulls her hair to prove that what she’s seeing isn’t a dream.
  • Dreaming of a White Christmas: The first thing that made Marinette realize something unusual is happening is that it’s snowing. But of course, if it’s Christmas, there has to be snow.
  • Failures on Ice: When Ladybug and Cat Noir try to fight the toys at the ice rink, they end up slipping and sliding all over the ice.
  • Flag Drop: While talking about upholding the rules of Christmas, Santa stands in front of a flag printed with pine trees and a big present in the center.
  • Flying Seafood Special: One of the toys Chris brings to life is a school of flying, fire-breathing catfishes. Santa ends up taming two of them and making them pull his sleigh after losing his reindeer.
  • Genre Savvy: Ladybug uses the fact that the akuma-generated Santa follows her made-up Christmas rules and that she is the designated "best kid in the world" (as she convinced Chris) to ask for exactly the present Christmaster wants, so she can track him down.
  • Girls Have Cooties: At the end when Marinette tries to tell Chris the truth about what's in the box, he covers his ears the moment he hears it's about a boy. This prompts Marinette to chase him around her room while explaining her crush.
  • Goo-Goo-Godlike: Christmaster was able to conjure an army of giant, living toys, make it snow in Paris in the off-season and was even able to magically teleport Santa Claus himself to Paris (or create a fake Santa) and damage his sleigh with fire-breathing flying catfish.
  • Home Field Advantage: Phillipe is able to take on the toy soldiers who're after Santa due to the fact that they're fighting on his ice rink. Unfortunately, this isn't enough for him to take on the T. rex.
  • Humongous Mecha: Christmaster brings the toy he got from Santa to life as a giant robot to fight Ladybug and Cat Noir.
  • Living Toys: Christmaster's power is to bring toys to life.
  • Long List: Santa carries a list of kids who have been good, with Ladybug being at the top for having saved Paris time and time again. When Nino asks where he is on the list, Santa unfurls the list, which is as long as a city block when the camera cuts.
  • Mirror Match: Christmaster brings toys of Cat Noir and Ladybug to life to fight them. They're capable of using their powers as much as they want.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Minus the first two words, this is what Ladybug says when she realizes a friendly, sentient being has been brought to temporary life because of her lies.
  • The Nose Knows: The army dog toy is able to track Santa's scent. Cat Noir fools him by wearing Santa's hat, giving him Santa's scent.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: We don't see Cat Noir's original rescue of Santa Claus.
  • Out of Focus: This is the only episode (other than "Prime Queen") where we never see Adrien as a civilian.
  • Palette Swap: Chris' teddy bear "Major Teddiski" looks exactly like Chloé's "Mr. Cuddly", although he's painted like a camouflaged soldier, instead of being yellow.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Cat Noir ends up captured by the toys who search for Santa, only because he's wearing his hat. In their defense, they thought that "Cat Noir wearing poor Santa disguise" was actually "Santa wearing great Cat Noir disguise."
  • Pinky Swear: Marinette and Chris at the end pinky promise not to lie to each other.
  • Pre-Sacrifice Final Goodbye: As Ladybug is about to cast the World-Healing Wave, she and Santa Claus both know it will be the end of him. She says goodbye sadly enough to surprise Cat Noir. Santa softens it with "Until next Christmas!" even though he knows better.
  • Punny Name: "Christmaster" is a Portmanteau on the words "Christmas" and "Master."
  • Reality-Changing Miniature: Christmaster's snow globe is the akumatized item and it makes Paris snowy with the Eiffel Tower decked out in Christmas decorations. Chris Master brings his toys to life-size by putting them in the snow globe.
  • Robot Me: A variation. Ladybug and Cat Noir end up having to fight toy versions of themselves when Christmaster brings their action figures to life.
  • Sadistic Choice: A rare heroic version: Ladybug positions herself next to Christmaster so he is forced to call off his toy from attacking her to save himself. Cat Noir then hops on its head and threatens to destroy it with Cataclysm. Either Christmaster gives up his snow globe or the toy he worked so hard to obtain will be destroyed. He reluctantly gives up the snow globe.
  • Santa Ambiguity: While Santa may have been a construct created by Christmaster, it is never clarified one way or the other.
  • Selfless Wish: Ladybug gives up her only gift from Santa and gives it to Chris in order to save Paris (again).
  • Shout-Out: "All your toys invokedare belong to us!". One can only assume Nino is responsible for making Chris aware of a meme that ancient.
  • Skewed Priorities: When civilians are running in a panic from the giant living toys, Roger takes the time to tell them not to run in the streets before he joins them.
  • Snow Globe of Innocence: At the beginning of the episode, Marinette tries to get Chris to play with his snow globe but he refuses because he says it’s for babies. This same snow globe later holds the akuma that turns him into Christmaster and gives him the power to bring his toys to life.
  • Something Only They Would Say: Ladybug realizes that Chris has been akumatized when Santa recites the same rules of Christmas she told him as a Motivational Lie.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Toy Ladybug uses her Lucky Charm to summon an Epic Flail, a mace, several boomerangs, and a BFS.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Chris and Nino, when presented with the suggestion that Ladybug is the best-behaved kid in the world, both say that it makes sense on account of how she saves Paris all the time.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: When Christmaster's toys capture Cat Noir wearing Santa's hat, they think it's Santa dressed up as Cat Noir instead of the other way around, and brag about not being fooled by the "disguise". Christmaster is understandably furious.
