Original Airdate: May 11, 2020
Written by: Naruhisa Arakawa
Directed by: Kyohei Yamaguchi

Summary:

Shiguru has to deal with a crazy goth singer fan of his who is being used by the MOTW to brainwash people.

Tropes specific to this episode:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Yodomhime (whose real name is Iyo Kodera) for Shiguru. She later switches over to Sayo.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The effect of Yodomhime’s Brown Note.
  • Brown Note: Yodomhime’s song sends anyone who watches it into a brainwashed state, before throwing tickets into their hearts, shutting them down until a concert.
  • Butt-Monkey: The episode firmly establishes Shiguru as this, subjecting him to much torture thanks to his Stalker with a Crush bonding with the MOTW.
  • Chekhov's Classroom: Shiguru starts the episode trying to control his swordsmanship using his imagination, similar to Juru. He eventually uses this to defeat Music Jamen, though the specific use is different.
  • Chekhov's Gun: You wouldn't expect that Shiguru's half-eaten salsiccia cheese dog would be used as inspiration to defeat Music Jamen.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Iyo quickly switches over to Sayo after being rejected by Shiguru. Sayo, understandably, rejects her, but it's in a rather...ambiguous fashion.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Yodomhime doesn’t notice Music Jamen on her back until Sayo reveals him.
  • Gratuitous English: Music Jamen, though to his credit, his pronunciation is very good.
  • Imagination-Based Superpower: Shiguru learns how to control his sword beam through pure imagination, which gets put to good use in the final battle with Music Jamen.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The episode title is a reference to the novel The Girl Who Leapt Through Time note  which had many adaptations over the years, including (in regards to Kiramager's Idiosyncratic Episode Naming motif) a 1983 Toei live-action film directed by Nobuhiko Ōbayashi (Hausu) and most famously the 2006 (non-Toei Animation) anime film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Iyo. Hell, it's even to the point where she asks Shiguru for his hand in marriage, while being piggybacked by the MOTW.
  • Shout-Out: The seifukus Iyo wears in the flashback sequences Shiguru tells of the story of her obsession with him look mighty familiar...note
  • What the Hell, Hero?: All of the core Mashin (including Jetter!) hilarious subject Shiguru to this when they realize that he didn't properly reject Iyo. This, along with his sandwich of all things, leads to the idea that Shiguru needs to "cut" Iyo off.
