Recap / Kim Possible A Sitch in Time S 2 E 14

Go To

With the Tempus Simia in their possession, the villains decide upon a scheme to prevent Kim from becoming a hero by breaking her spirit as a child. Meanwhile, Kim is visited by Rufus 3000, a future descendant of the original Rufus, who warns her that "The Supreme One" conquered the world by tampering with Kim's destiny, and that the tampering must be undone.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: Naturally, Teen Ron saves the day by reactivating the Laser Hallway without knowing What Does This Button Do?.
  • Behind the Black; Shego pops out of her hiding place behind the police car, to the surprise of all. Somehow, Kim is surprised despite being on that side of the car with a clear view of where Shego was hiding.
  • Big "NO!": Pre-teen Kim and Ron when teen Ron reactivates Mr. Paisley's lethal laser security grid.
  • Bully Hunter: Drakken, Killigan, and Monkey Fist initially succeeded in bullying Kim into submission, but seeing them about to hurt Ron (after he tried to stand up for her) motivates her to stand up to the trio and kick their asses.
  • Call-Back:
    • Upon seeing her future self, Shego assumes Drakken broke the "no cloning" rule mentioned in "Kimitation Nation".
    • Kim is excited to see Mr. Paisley's rare Cuddle Buddy.
  • Eccentric Millionaire: Mr. Paisley, who's even described as such. He lives in a mansion in Upperton and commissioned a sophisticated, high-tech security vault to store his collection of Cuddle Buddies.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • When Rufus 3000 offers Kim a brief glimpse of the Bad Future, the environment has a certain green atmosphere to it, and the denizens are wearing knockoffs of Shego's uniform. Kim jumps to the conclusion that Drakken was the one who took over the world, but those clues should have proved otherwise.
    • Also, Team Impossible are mentioned as the ones the security contractor was initially trying to contact for help. Later in "Team Impossible", they appear and are not happy about Kim having stolen their thunder.
  • Fountain of Youth: Part of Drakken's scheme to crush Kim's spirit is to infiltrate her pre-school by transforming himself, Killigan, and Monkey Fist into toddlers. When that fails, he plans on doing the same as pre-teens, but that plan is shut down by Shego, who calls it “lame”.
  • Future Badass: Rufus 3000. To pre-teen Kim and Ron on their first mission, their older counterparts are this.
  • Hilarious in Flashback:
    • Sort of, but Ron's imaginary friend in pre-K that he claims will protect him is named Rufus.
    • The younger Kim gets the call to her first adventure mission just after she makes the cheerleading squad and is about to start her first practice. As she leaves, she earnestly promises that she will never ditch practice again.
  • Laser Hallway: Kim's first adventure is rescuing a rich collector and a security contractor from a lethal laser grid after the collector activated it without getting clear of it first.
  • Little Miss Badass: Pre-K Kim, once she regains her nerve, is shown to already be a capable fighter and acrobat who can take on three opponents.
Killigan: The wee lassie's a savage!
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Both heroes and villains at the end when Shego reveals she has taken the Time Monkey, and isn't planning on helping her "bosses".
  • Missed the Call/Origins Episode: Kim's gets her Call to Adventure when someone in need of rescue accesses her website (which was originally intended to get her mundane jobs like babysitting) instead of Team Impossible's (an understandable mistake, given that he was foot-typing while contorting himself to stay clear of a laser grid).
  • My Future Self and Me: Kim and Ron meet their younger selves at the time of Team Possible's first adventure. Meanwhile, Future Shego visits present-day Shego during the villains' confrontation with them, advising her to grab the Time Monkey.
  • Noodle Incident: In middle school, Kim kissed a boy named Walter Nelson and they ended up with "locked braces". According to her, "It was an embarrassing ride to the orthodontist."
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Pre-K Kim's fight against Drakken, Killigan, and Monkey Fist to protect Ron isn't shown, but it sent them running for the hills.
  • Percussive Maintenance: Pre-teen Ron smacks his computer when it takes too long to load.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: When toddler Kim has enough of her preschool tormentors.
    Kim: Hey, bullies!
  • Pubescent Braces: Kim wore braces when she first joined the cheerleading team and embarked on her first adventure.
  • Ripple Effect Indicator: The photo of Ron’s first day at preschool changes as soon as Drakkon uses his Fountain of Youth device on the villains.
  • San Dimas Time: Killigan complains about this being in effect when Monkey Fist is using the Tempus Simia to time travel.
Killigan: He has the power of time travel, and he's late!
  • Series Continuity Error: The past segments show Bonnie being in charge of the cheerleading squad in middle school, even reluctantly letting Kim join, even though "Number One" established that she never had any experience in being in charge.
  • Serious Business: Toddler Ron considers taking turns to be a major rule of preschool.
  • Stable Time Loop: Shego's plan to steal the Time Monkey arose from Future Shego telling Present Shego what to do, which led to Present Shego carrying out the plan and eventually going back in time as Future Shego to deliver the message.
  • Stating the Simple Solution:
    • Drakken wants to crush Kim's spirit as a preschooler. After the attempt fails, he wants to try again by causing her first mission to fail, ignoring the other villains' suggestion that it would be simpler to just crush her directly.
    • When Future Shego tells her past self to steal the Time Monkey, Present Shego suggested using the one her future self already had...which Future Shego naturally turned down, as it obviously would've caused a Temporal Paradox.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Played for Laughs when pre-K Kim thinks that her mother is pregnant with her "baby sister". Ann remarks that it could be a boy, and James chimes in to say that it might be two, prompting his wife to tell him to not even joke about it. We already know that she's going to give birth to Jim and Tim.
    • Before Kim's cheerleading tryout, Bonnie smugly gloats that she gave her an impossible routine. Kim ends up performing it flawlessly, impressing the other judges and leaving Bonnie with no choice but to accept her on the squad.
    • Done as a Walk-In Chime-In when past Kim is geeking out over a rare Cuddle Buddy.
Kim: Now my life is complete.
Drakken: Perfect. So you won't mind if we end it! (Killer Gorilla breaks through the wall)
    • When Ron shows up to the stone gorilla fight, all three villains laugh at the idea he could be any help. He destroys it within minutes.
  • Time-Travel Tense Trouble: The conversation between Future Shego and Present Shego about grabbing the Time Monkey:
Future Shego: Listen, we don't have a lot of time... OK, actually we do — well... we will.
Present Shego: When you wanna make sense, just let me know.
Future Shego: Grab the Time Monkey!
    Present Shego: Why?
Future Shego: You need the Time Monkey.
Present Shego: Can't I just use yours?
Future Shego: No, this is mine! OK, well, actually, it's yours too, I mean... well it's the one you're gonna steal, so technically...
Present Shego: If you need me, I'm gonna be in there watching Kim Possible lose.
    Earlier:
Kim: But if the Supreme One has the time monkey in the future... or the past... or... Wow. Aah! Brain pain.
Rufus 3000: Time travel does that.
