At Lucius' office, Heloise is presenting her newest invention idea to her boss and Samy. She calls it the carnival, a public attraction full of nausea/scream-inducing rides, fattening and disgusting food, and massive crowds in long lines. Lucius utterly adores this idea, but Samy is skeptical. And Lucius' toady has every right to be - Heloise had secretly gotten her idea from Jimmy. Regardless, Lucius approves of the project and begins construction of what he believes will be Miseryville's most miserable location yet, replicating Heloise's model down to the last detail.

A few days later, Jimmy sees an advertisement for the newly constructed Carnival Lucius and some of the prizes he can win there, notably gummy sneakers, which fills his imagination with visions of super-bouncy footwear. He rushes off to Carnival Lucius, where he finds that Beezy has been "employed" (read: forced) by Lucius to wear the mascot costume (which is of Lucius). But Jimmy doesn't have time to help his friend get away from the kids who can't get enough of tormenting the mascot, instead turning his attention to a whack-a-mole booth with gummy sneakers. However, Jimmy accidentally whacks the demon running the booth, so his prize is a punch to the face that sends him flying across the carnival grounds.

Near Jimmy's crash site, Lucius is trying to get some monsters to try a rickety one-person swing ride he calls the Bucket of Bolts. Jimmy eagerly volunteers instead and soon finds himself being swung about at high speeds without safety straps. Lucius takes delight in listening to his screams of terror that end when the ride breaks, causing Jimmy to plummet into the ground with his seat. He emerges unscathed and more excited about the carnival than ever, to the the monsters' delight and Lucius' confusion. As Jimmy rushes off for more fun, Lucius observes around him that not one carnival attendee is miserable at all. Then it hits him. Heloise's carnival is what he knows as a funfair. His initial fury at Heloise's trickery quickly grows worse when Jimmy loudly thanks Heloise for building the carnival he told her about. Realizing Heloise's true intentions with the project, Lucius vows to make them both pay.

Lucius quickly captures Jimmy and Heloise, strapping them to a roller coaster that he calls the Broiler Coaster and that Samy says is incomplete. Lucius is aware of this, because the ride will send Jimmy and Heloise straight into the Abyss of Nothingness, a dark and infinite void of endless despair where the two will spend the rest of their lives as punishment for bringing happiness to the people of Miseryville and making a fool out of Lucius. Samy then activates the Broiler Coaster, sending Jimmy and Heloise through a wild ride of giant cleavers and flamethrowers.

As the two's ride races towards the Abyss, Jimmy calls for Beezy on his cellphone to help him. Beezy (still in the Lucius costume) heads to Samy's location and tells Samy to stop the ride, which Lucius' toady does. The real Lucius however tells Samy to start, and after a brief back-and-forth, Samy loses it and exits. As Lucius and Beezy then begin arguing over the fates of Beezy's friends, Beezy accidentally breaks the lever, leaving Jimmy and Heloise's ride uncontrollably hurtling towards the Abyss. Heloise however has a new plan that just requires a wrench. Jimmy conveniently has one with him already ("Not even gonna ask."), and Heloise uses it remove one of their ride's wheels. She spits the wheel, sending it bouncing across the carnival until it finally hits a button on the top of the carnival's central flagpole. The activated button begins to cause the carnival to contract all its rides and booths until finally there is only a suitcase just like the one Heloise had used to show off her model funfair to Lucius. Heloise and Jimmy are saved from the Abyss and out of the carnival.

Jimmy then spots some leftover gummy sneakers lying about, and immediately jumps into them. Heloise brings with her the carnival briefcase, which has trapped Lucius and Samy as well. Beezy soon arrives, giving Jimmy a friendly slap on the back that causes Jimmy to fail about in his rubbery gummy sneakers. He tries to anchor onto Heloise's carnival briefcase, but ends up tossing the case with Lucius and Samy into the Abyss of Nothingness. Heloise is apathetic to the loss, but Jimmy is left disappointed that gummy sneakers do not actually let him bounce around.

"Carnival Lucius" features examples of:

  • Amusement Park of Doom / Crappy Carnival: Subverted. Carnival Lucius may be full of dangerous rides, but the people of Miseryville still enjoy it, to Lucius' horror. However, it gets played totally straight when Jimmy and Heloise face the Broiler Coaster.
  • Brick Joke: When punched across the carnival by an angry demon, Jimmy accidentally destroys a small monster's cotton candy, making it cry. Later on, the same monster is seen with more cotton candy that gets destroyed by Heloise's Improbable Aiming Skills, although this time it just gets annoyed.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The button on Heloise's model carnival she uses to fold it back into the suitcase is also part of Carnival Lucius, allowing her and Jimmy to escape the Broiler Coaster by activating it.
  • Close-Call Haircut: Jimmy loses some of his hair when he and Heloise are sent through the Broiler Coaster's cleavers.
Heloise: We should have been chopped to bits. Hey, Lucius! Your henchmen do shoddy work!
  • Glad I Thought of It: Lucius' reaction to Heloise's carnival proposal.
"Genius! How do I come up with these ideas!"
    • Bites him back hilariously when he realizes carnivals don't make people miserable.
    Lucius: This is a funfair!
Heloise: (smiling) Your best idea ever.
  • Goofy Suit: Beezy is forced to wear one in his dad's image for most of the episode.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Heloise aiming for Carnival Lucius' shutdown button. She manages to get the wheel to ricochet off several booths, a monster's buttocks, and Lucius himself in order to hit the button perfectly.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: When Jimmy is at a carny booth.
Jimmy: So what do I do here?
Carny: Stick a carrot in the hole and pull out a rabbit.
Jimmy: Well, I guess I'll hop to it. Huh? Huh?
Carny: (same apathetic tone) Ha, ha.
  • Sting: Parodied throughout the episode with a shoddy carnival prize that only makes a flat and undramatic "Dun dun dun".
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Lucius declares that he wants Carnival Lucius to "cast a giant shadow of gloom all over Miseryville". In the following scene, one of Lucius' giant screens blocking out the sun causes Jimmy to remark that it "looks like there's a giant shadow of gloom all over Miseryville".

Jimmy and Beezy are excited over an upcoming concert from their (and the rest of Miseryville's) favorite rock band, Runny and the Nosebleeds. The only problem is neither of them have any money for concert tickets, so they'll need to do "some menial chore for a well-to-do family".

Elsewhere in Miseryville, Molotov and his well-to-do family have a problem - Molotov's wife is bringing him to the Misery Emporium for the afternoon and Molotov forgot to hire a babysitter for the kids. With no time to waste, Molotov rushes out in search of a babysitter before finding Jimmy and Beezy publicly advertising for dog-walking services. Deciding it's "close enough", Molotov hires the dog-walkers and introduces them to his kids, Tory and Baby Blammo. Jimmy and Beezy eagerly take the job, but quickly learn in the introductions that Blammo has a penchant for spewing large amounts of pink slime from her mouth and Tory likes to make Blammo spew. And as Molotov's wife warns the babysitters, they're only getting the ticket money if she doesn't come back to the sight of infant demon barf everywhere.

Jimmy and Beezy decide to bring Molotov's kids to the park, with Jimmy taking care of Blammo and Beezy looking after Tory. As Jimmy tries to stop Blammo's spewing, Tory is left frustrated with Beezy, who ignores Tory's complaints about neglecting him to enjoy himself. Fed up with Beezy ignoring him, Tory decides to find some of his own fun in the form of provoking Blammo into spewing on other Miseryvillians at the park. All this trouble from Tory, Blammo, and Beezy annoys Jimmy, and he decides they'll need some help.

Jimmy rushes off to Heloise's lab with Beezy and Molotov's kids. There, he tells Heloise that they need to find a way to put an end to Blammo's spewing. Once they do, they can bring the kids home and get the ticket money. Heloise decides to conduct some tests with Blammo, and Jimmy instructs Tory to hang with Beezy in the meantime. However, Beezy remains as uncaring towards Tory as before. Frustrated with the babysitters' inattention to him, Tory takes out his cellphone and calls his father, weaving up a story about how Jimmy and Beezy are planning to eat him and Blammo. Molotov (who has had a miserable time at the Misery Emporium) is furious and dashes out to give Jimmy and Beezy the beating of their lives.

Heloise's tests on Blammo's spewing are inconclusive, and she ultimately decides Blammo just likes spewing on stuff. However, Blammo is left exhausted from the testing and soon falls fast asleep. Meanwhile, Tory is causing trouble around the lab, and Jimmy just barely saves him from one of Heloise's deadlier inventions. With the Blammo problem solved, Jimmy decides to put an end to Tory's mischief by telling him that he doesn't have to be jealous of the attention his sister gets and that he's special in his own way. Tory is more confused than moved by Jimmy's speech, but does admit that he told Molotov about their bad babysitting and now his dad is now rushing back home to kill them.

The terrified Jimmy and Beezy begin to run back to Molotov's house as quickly as possible with Tory and the sleeping Blammo. Once at the place, they put Blammo in her crib, only for Tory to awaken her as one last act of mischief. Molotov arrives moments later to find the house flooded with Blammo's vomit and a terrified Jimmy and Beezy. However, he sees that the kids are unhurt, and unlike his wife, has no problem with the mess, which he cleans in a jiffy. Content with the pair's work, Molotov gives Jimmy and Beezy their ticket money, plus some bonus cash for getting him out of the emporium before it killed him. That's when Heloise arrives to demand her share of the money for helping them with the Blammo problem.

That night, Jimmy, Beezy, Heloise, Molotov and his family, and the rest of Miseryville are enjoying the Runny and the Nosebleeds concert. Tory is up to his usual antics there, causing Runny himself to get hit by a torrent of Blammo's spewing. The crowd loves it, and the goop-covered Runny continues on with his band into the night.

"Baby Boom" features examples of:

  • Babysitting Episode: The episode is about Jimmy and Beezy trying to babysit Molotov's kids...with mixed results.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Tory, although it's somewhat understandable given Beezy's poor treatment of him.
  • Chirping Crickets: Parodied. It turns out to be Beezy making the sound.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Subverted with Tory. Jimmy believes his mischief is because he's jealous of how Blammo gets more attention from the babysitters, but Tory is just confused when Jimmy tells him not to be so jealous of Blammo.
  • Left the Background Music On: When Jimmy gives his "moving speech" to Tory, sad violin music plays, and it turns out to be Beezy and Heloise. Jimmy tells them to lighten it up, and they start a more upbeat tune.
  • Papa Wolf: Molotov, so much that he goes on a mad rush all the way back home to beat Jimmy and Beezy into a bloody pulp when Tory tells him what horrible babysitters they are.
    Molotov: I. WILL. PULVERIZE THEM!!!
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Blammo's spewing, though it's a tamer example since it's mostly just simple pink slime.
