Carly, Sam and Freddie decide to have their webshow reviewed by a website called Nevelocity, run by someone named Nevel Papperman, but Carly discovers he's an annoying, stuck-up, and scheming boy who tries to get her to date him. When she refuses, they risk getting a bad review from him.
Meanwhile, Spencer creates a sculpture out of butter for a bakery.
Tropes:
- Abhorrent Admirer: Nevel turns out to be this to Carly. He sniffs her hair, gets uncomfortably close to her, makes unusually lustful comments to her, and even kisses her without her consent. This greatly annoys and creeps out Carly.
- Didn't Think This Through: Nevel didn't take into account how the iCarly gang could go to his mother and explain the false bad review that he made just for revenge.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Because Carly refused to let Nevel kiss her a second time and smushed tapenade on his face, he swears revenge against iCarly.
- Get Out!: When Nevel asks Carly if he can call her, she responds with, "Get out of here!" in angry disbelief.
- Innocently Insensitive: When seeing Nevel for the first time, Spencer is surprised and amused that a blogger such as him could be so young. He adds on to this by repeatedly calling him cute and ruffling his hair. This infuriates Nevel.
- Lame Pun Reaction: As he is re-making his butter sculpture, Spencer says that he hopes it will be back and "BUTTER than ever". He looks around after saying that, and is embarrassed, admitting he's glad no one heard that.
- Not Good with Rejection: Nevel makes it clear he has a crush on Carly. When she refuses his advances, he chooses to ruin her web-show's reputation as revenge.
- Out-Gambitted: When Nevel comes to Carly's apartment to hear her "apology", she and her friends pay their sickly friend Jeremy to grab Nevel and hold him so he can confess that his review of the show is fake on video recording. When Nevel offers Jeremy a larger amount of money to release him, he quickly does so. Nevel is so amused how his plan worked so easily that he refuses to pay Jeremy for being so greedy.
- Precocious Crush: Nevel is a few years younger than Carly, yet has a very creepy crush on her (while somewhat Played for Laughs, it made the characters and more than a few viewers uncomfortable).
- Rage Breaking Point: Carly may have seen what was going on with Nevel's crush on her, and tried to politely and patiently turn him down. But then Nevel suddenly kisses her on the cheek, much to her shock. She furiously rubs tapenade all over Nevel's face and immediately calls for Spencer to take her back home.
- Spell My Name With An S: Spencer initially spells "rue" as "roux", which is a mixture of flour and fats to thicken soups.
- Suddenly Shouting: "You feel the rue? You FEEL IT!?!"
- Terrified of Germs: Nevel is shown to be highly afraid of germs. The iCarly team try to use this to their advantage by having their classmate Jeremy, nicknamed "Germy", to grab ahold of Nevel when he comes to visit. Also, when Nevel is forced by his mother to write an honest review of the iCarly webshow, he tries looking at Sam and Freddie for sympathy. They give him none and pretend to sneeze on him, causing Nevel to run back to his room.
