Pat The Screwdriver

What should be a simple job fixing Abuelito’s front steps goes awry when a mistimed jump leads to Pat hitting the top of his head against the base of the tree, hard enough to shake up his mind and leave him convinced he’s a screwdriver.

”Pat The Screwdriver” includes the following tropes:

  • Amnesia Episode: Pat gets Identity Amnesia and thinks he’s a screwdriver.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Early in the episode, Pat comments on how Felipe and Turner get to do everything, and says he wishes he was a screwdriver. Then he gets Identity Amnesia, and becomes convinced he’s a screwdriver.
  • Dad the Veteran: Abuelito offhandedly mentions having been a soldier at one point.
  • Easy Amnesia: Pat gets Identity Amnesia with absolutely no other side effects from falling off Abuelito’s porch and hitting the top of his head on the ground, and has it reversed the same way.
  • Injury Bookend: Pat’s Identity Amnesia is cured when he repeats the same fall off Abuelito’s porch that gave it to him in the first place.
  • Identity Amnesia: Pat becomes convinced he’s a screwdriver after falling off Abuelito’s front porch. Abuelito also mentioned that, when he was in the army, one of his squadmates hit his head and forgot he was a soldier.
  • "Knock Knock" Joke: An amnesiac Pat misinterprets Turner’s attempt to jog his memory of what a “hammer” is as him trying to tell him one.
Turner: You know, bang bang, knock knock…
    Pat: Who’s there?
    Manny (tiredly): Pat…
    Pat: Pat who?
    Stretch: Pat the hammer.
Pat: Ha! That is- //sudden realization// not so funny.
  • Self Botched Catchphrase: Pat’s normal catchphrase of “I’m a hammer!” gets a bit screwed up due to Identity Amnesia.
    Pat: I’m a screwdriver!
  • Slippery Skid: Mr. Lopart ends up slipping in a puddle of oil produced by his car.

Big Sister

Manny receives a call from Mr. Alvarez- his wife is going to have a baby, and he needs Manny to repair a crib and affix a mobile to it. However, the mobile they were supposed to attach quickly goes missing, and on top of that the Alvarezes’ daughter Susanna seems to be acting rather… oddly.

“Big Sister” contains examples of:

  • Funny Background Event: Fixit can be seen chasing a ball around while Manny reads the letter the Alvarezes sent him to the tools.
  • Infant Sibling Jealousy: Susanna Alvarez is worried that her parents will like their new baby more than her, which motivates her to steal the mobile that was supposed to go on Isabella’s crib. Fortunately, she ends up getting over it via a pep-talk from Manny.
  • Motor Mouth: Mr. Alvarez talks quickly when he’s nervous, and as his wife is just about to have a baby he spends most of the episode being very nervous.
  • New Baby Episode: Mrs. Alvarez is expecting a baby and Manny is called to construct a crib, but the mobile disappears. Turns out, Susanna hid the mobile because she doesn't want a baby sister in fear her parents won't attain to her anymore; Manny reassures her that her parents love her as much as the baby and will always have time for her.
  • Thieving Pet: Pat suggests this as a possible solution to the mystery of the missing mobile, although the other tools quickly shoot him down by pointing out that the Alvarezes don’t actually have any pets.
  • We Sell Everything: For some reason, Kelly’s hardware store has baby rattles. Granted, they’re hammer-shaped, but still.
