Tropes

  • Ass Shove: Monica threatens to do this to Joey with the toilet brush he uses to disguise the hole he just gouged in her bathroom floor.
  • Celeb Crush: The gang's lists reveal each of theirs.
  • Celebrity Paradox: One of the possibles on Ross's list of "Five Celebrities You're Allowed to Sleep with and Your Partner Can't Get Mad", is Susan Sarandon, who later plays Cecilia Monroe, whose role Joey assumes on Days of Our Lives. His final list includes Winona Ryder who would appear in season seven as Melissa, one of Rachel's sorrority sisters.
  • Chekhov's Gag: Ross had considered Isabella Rossellini for his list, but he opted to cut her in response to Chandler pointing out he should play the odds with a celebrity he's more likely to encounter. No points for guessing which celebrity ends up stopping by Central Perk later on in the episode.
  • Foreshadowing: Chandler locks Joey in the entertainment unit exactly the way he'll be locked when the appartment is robbed.
  • Happy-Ending Massage: Frank thinks he can ask for one of these when Phoebe takes him to work with her. Jasmine quickly corrects him by throwing him in a wristlock.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Chandler suggested that Ross not waste a list entry on someone he'd have little chance of actual encountering. Chandler's own list included a cartoon character.
  • Irony: Phoebe finds it rather hard to bond with Frank, feeling the interactions are consistently awkward and stammered. The ending reveals that Frank was actually having a great time and felt like he had really opened up to her.
  • Mistaken for Prostitute: When Phoebe tells him she works in a massage parlor Frank thinks it's one of those "parlors" and hits on Jasmine thinking she's a hooker.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After the whole Mistaken for Prostitute mess, Frank is very apologetic to Phoebe. He thought the visit had been going well up to this point, and he's sorry for wrecking that.
  • Painted-On Pants: Joey's incredibly tight work jeans.
Chandler: My word, those are snug!
  • Pass the Popcorn: Rachel tells Monica she wishes she had some when Ross tries to flirt with Isabella Rossellini.
  • Pop-Cultural Osmosis Failure: When Rachel mentions that Parker Stevenson is on her list Ross briefly mistakes the name for Peter Parker before Rachel corrects him to the the actor from The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries
