Recap / Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends S 6 E 4 Bloo Tube

Go To

The fourth episode of the sixth season of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

To pass the time on a rainy day, the imaginary friends entertain themselves by filming their own videos to upload to ViewTube.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bandage Mummy: At the end of the episode, Bloo ends up in a full-body cast as the result of an injury from riding the Undertow, a poorly-constructed water slide he built.
  • Book Ends: This episode begins and ends with Bloo mourning over not being able to go to the Monsoon Lagoon water park. The first time, the trip gets cancelled due to a rainstorm. The second time, he ends up in a full-body cast as the result of an injury from riding the Undertow, leaving him in no condition to visit Monsoon Lagoon when it's sunny.
  • Chew-Out Fake-Out: This gag happens when Bloo is forced to let Mac, Wilt, Coco, and Eduardo use a laptop to upload a viral video they made with Frankie's camera, which they used without her permission. Bloo tries to get even by telling Frankie that they are using her camera without her permission, but right when it looks like she'll get mad, she instead commends Mac and the others for deciding to make a viral video and encourages everyone else in the house to make their own viral videos.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • When Mac refuses to go to Monsoon Lagoon with Bloo during the rainstorm, Bloo asked him what happened to the Mac who used to jump in mud puddles with him for hours no matter how hard it rained, referencing the events of "Bloooo". Mac tells him "He got pneumonia and had to spend the whole summer in bed."
    • Mr. Herriman's Funny Bunny video from "World Wide Wabbit" is shown in this episode, where it is revealed to have over twelve million views, making it the 7th most watched video on ViewTube.
  • Doomed Supermarket Display: A variant; Mac and the imaginary friends build a tower of blocks to pass the time on a rainy day. Bloo deliberately pulls a block out form the bottom of the tower, causing it to collapse as a means of ruining their fun.
  • Fictional Board Game: To pass the time on a rainy day, Mac and the imaginary friends invent a board game mishmash called For Rat Trap-O-Life, which they make from games such as Forgive Me!, Rat Trap, Duopoly, and Family Life. Bloo, who is upset that the trip to Monsoon Lagoon has been cancelled due to the rainstorm, refuses to partake in the game, even when Mac wins the game for him.
  • Friendly Tickle Torture: As one of the videos, Frankie and another imaginary friend do this to an elephant to make him shoot milk out of his nose and ears.
  • Instant Humiliation: Just Add YouTube!: Bloo builds the Undertow in an attempt to one-up Monsoon Lagoon, only to make a fool of himself and end up in a full-body cast when he takes it for a test drive. The other imaginary friends film him as he rides the Undertow, splice their footage together, and make a video called "The Bloo Buffoon", which becomes the #1 most watched video on ViewTube with over twenty million views.
  • Made of Explodium: One of the ways that Mac and the imaginary friends try to pass the time is by playing with remote control race cars. Bloo launches the cars into the air, where they crash through the window and hit the ground, exploding on impact.
  • Mourning an Object: A variant; Bloo decides to throw a Pity Party, which acts out like a funeral. Bloo mourns the loss of Foster's trip to Monsoon Lagoon.
  • No OSHA Compliance: The Undertow, the indoor water slide that Bloo builds is described by Bloo himself as painstakingly constructed with over 3,000 feet of used lumber, nearly 50 nails, and lots of tape and super glue for the parts where he ran out of nails. It also includes a vertical loop and a ring to jump through. Bloo also uses the rainwater to power it, and when he takes it for a test run, he ends up both making a fool of and injuring himself.
  • Present Company Excluded: Early in the episode, Bloo asks Wilt to apply some sunscreen to him, saying he doesn't want to end up as red as a lobster. Realizing that Wilt is red, he tells him "No offense."
  • Pull a Rabbit out of My Hat: One video has a magician imaginary friend pull various items out of his hat. When he pulls an imaginary rabbit out of his hat, the rabbit remarks "Oh, sure. Pull a rabbit out of a hat! That's original."
  • Rain, Rain, Go Away: Foster's trip to Monsoon Lagoon gets cancelled due to a rainstorm. While Mac, Wilt, Eduardo, and Coco try to make the best of a bad situation, Bloo has been looking forward to the trip and is so upset over its cancellation that he doesn't want to partake in whatever fun activities Mac and the other imaginary friends have planned, including making their own videos that they plan to post to ViewTube.
  • Shout-Out: At one point, Bloppy Pants' band, Pizza Party, attempts to film a music video on treadmills. When Bloo distracts them and they fail, Billy the Squid says, "Okay GO... again."
  • Start My Own: Upset that Fosters' trip to Monsoon Lagoon has been cancelled, Bloo decides to turn Foster's into an indoor water park called Bloo Lagoon, where he builds a poorly-constructed water slide fueled by rain called the Undertow.
  • Take a Third Option: Mac and the imaginary friends create a board game mish-mash called For Rat Trap-O-Life. During their game, Eduardo lands on Moorpark Gardens, and has to give Mac either $500 or his first-born son. Eduardo instead gives Mac his last "Forgive Me!" card.
  • Treadmill Trauma: Pizza Party tries to film a music video on treadmills. The band gets distracted by Bloo when he passes by them and fall off their treadmills.
  • Visible Odor: Fluffer Nutter's video entry involves her burping the alphabet. Clouds of green gas emit from her mouth, causing the cameraman filming her to faint.
