Go To

Brian tries to convince the Griffins that their new adopted cat, Pouncy, is evil.

Tropes:

  • Abusive Parents: Peter refuses to answer the doorbell when Lois tells him because he's afraid it's the Purge. Lois says that the Purge was just a movie, but when he asks why she doesn't answer if she's sure, she immediately asks Chris to do it.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Pouncy and her minions manage to relatively succeed in their evil plan when Quagmire sacrifices himself for Meg.
  • Big Bad: Pouncy, who tries to corrupt Meg into becoming a Crazy Cat Lady and makes Brian look jealous when he tries to stop her.
  • Brick Joke: When Pouncy and a hypnotized Meg walk past an oblivious Peter, Pouncy says, 'Say goodbye to Meg.' After a beat, Peter asks who Ned is as if he didn't hear her right since he was watching the TV. This happens again when Brian announces to Peter that he's going to save Meg. But after another beat when Brian leaves, Peter exasperatedly repeats his question.
  • Cats Are Mean: According to this episode, cats can all talk but deliberately don't bother talking to humans to mess with them. They consider humans their pets, and will brainwash one into adopting masses of them so they have someone to take care of them.
  • Compressed Vice: For a gag Peter's revealed to have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and retooled his home renovation show to install five front doors to match the weekdays. He stopped taking his medication because he feels less creative.
  • The Corrupter: Pouncy brainwashing Meg into becoming a cat lady is presented like a psychosexual seduction.
  • Halfway Plot Switch: The episode starts with Peter and his friends forming a Home Makeover show before it gets to the plot with the cat.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Quagmire gives himself up to save Meg from the cats.
  • Karma Houdini: Pouncy gets no repercussions besides a different owner (which she is indifferent towards).
  • Knew It All Along: It turns out that Meg knows all about Stewie's time machine. Her room is right next door and it's loud.note
  • More than Mind Control: Pouncy was able to put Meg under her control, but Meg makes it clear that feeling unloved both at home and at school has contributed to it as well.
  • One-Track-Minded Artist: Before the Five Front Doors gag, Peter and friends' home renovation show was about making every room in the house a kitchen.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite his enmity towards Brian, Quagmire actually helps him out in saving Meg from Pouncy.
  • "Reason You Suck" Speech: Meg gives one to Brian about how he was never there for her during her hard times.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Peter worries about The Purge when Quagmire rings the doorbell.
    • Quagmire also makes some references to Cats.
    • The dancing scene is a reference to Fright Night
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: Pouncy interrupts Brian's pretentious speech when confronting her by swiping his nose with her claws.
  • Take That!: Peter unleashes a tirade against Home Renovation shows due to how generic and basic they are.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Brian and Quagmire team up to save Meg.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Though he ultimately loses to numbers, Brian puts up an action hero level effort to fight off Pouncy's group.
