Red Dragon II contains the following tropes:

Roast red dragon, dragon tail soup, pizza bread with onions
  • Anger Born of Worry: Laios ruffles his sister's hair and chastises her for being reckless during the first dragon fight. He then hugs her and implores her to never scare him like that again.
  • Bathtub Bonding: Marcille accompanies Falin in a bath so they can clean off all the dragon blood.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: While Chilchuck and Senshi express concern over the practice of the Dark Arts, with Senshi outright calling it "evil", Marcille coldly states that "magic doesn't abide by morality" and that "benevolent" healing magic can also be used for torture.
  • Came Back Strong: Falin turned out significantly stronger in terms of magic after being resurrected. She managed to save Senshi from being incinerated by the Red Dragon's fuel, despite Senshi being point-blank in the explosion and Falin not even setting up a chant.
  • Cliffhanger: As the Touden Party goes to sleep in high spirits now that Falin is with them, a familiar elf appears in front of the dragon carcass and the resurrection circle.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Marcille expresses annoyance over having to deal with the frogs on the way home.
    • Chilchuck brings up the past monsters that were eaten when trying to describe how dragon meat tastes like.
    • Laios would then tell his sister the various monsters they ate throughout their adventure. He also brings up how his mollusk sword helped him detect hidden monsters.
  • The Dark Arts: Marcille confesses to her friends that she actually has studied "Ancient Magic" which is considered forbidden among many magic circles.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Falin is brought back from the dead through an extremely bloody and gory process that takes place in front of a fairly yonic opening in the red dragon's stomach, with Marcille performing the magic using her own blood (i.e. bodily fluids). The whole thing is framed heavily as a birth sequence, with the dragon as "mother" and Marcille as both "father" and midwife.
  • Equivalent Exchange: In order for resurrection to work, one must provide a great bounty of fresh meat so the deceased can be fully healed. Along with confessing that she dabbles in forbidden magic, Marcille points out that they'll be using dragon meat as a substitute.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When Laios is explaining why you really shouldn't start an open flame near a dragon due to the fuel organ, they realize that Senshi just starting walking that way and intends on doing just that. It explodes and they only survive thanks to Falin's defensive magic.
  • Eye Open: Falin's eyes open up after the resurrection spell is completed.
  • Foreshadowing: Kensuke reacts negatively to Falin's presence and leaps away from her, just like it did when the Red Dragon was preying on the party.
  • Godiva Hair: Marcille's hair is long enough to cover her nipples and her butt, which comes in handy during the bath scene. Falin, whose hair ends at the chin, spends most of the time with creative camera shots or up to her armpits in water to avoid it.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Because Falin has been reduced to bones, drastically reducing her chance of resurrection the normal way, Marcille resorts to using a forbidden type of resurrection magic.
  • Hidden Depths: Laios reveals that he's deeply knowledgeable when it comes to dog anatomy.
  • Hypocrisy Nod: Senshi brings up how Laios believed that monsters couldn't be trusted as he contemplates keeping his monster sword.
  • I Regret Nothing: Marcille declares that she's not ashamed of learning and practicing the Dark Arts, insisting on calling it the more proper name of Ancient Magic, because she wants to explore its benefits.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Discussed and Played With. Falin is brought back to life using dragon meat and Senshi treats her to some dragon-made delicacies. The others quietly worry over how she'll react to eating it but are relieved when she eats his food just fine.
  • Internal Reveal: Chilchuck gets Laios to tell everyone about his mollusk sword.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Everyone (minus Falin) get this when they realize that Senshi is going to cook the Red Dragon right next to the fuel organ that's still leaking.
  • Needle in a Stack of Needles: The first challenge that the party has to overcome to resurrect Falin is to differentiate her bones from the wargs, a task that proves surprisingly difficult but alleiviated by Laios and Marcille's knowledge of dog and human anatomy respectively.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Marcille insists that Ancient Magic is not inherently evil and that she's not ashamed of what she did, but she also insists that they erase all evidence of the magic circle before they leave.
  • Right Behind Me: Chilchuck wonders out loud to Laios if Marcille is secretly a "Dark Elf", right as she's standing behind him.
  • Ship Tease: Along with the Bathtub Bonding, Marcille spends a good chunk of the episode gushing over Falin and hugging her every chance she gets. She even expresses eagerness in sharing the same bed with her.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Falin is amazed by the party's stories of eating monsters on their journey to save her. She's particularly interested in learning about what living armor is really made of.
  • Tempting Fate: Marcille assures Falin that nothing bad will happen if they leave the resurrection circle intact for the night. As the heroes go to sleep, the elf from the living paintings observes the magic circle...
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Chichuck has to remind Laios that putting Falin's bones together isn't a game when he childishly asks for a hint.
  • Wrong Context Magic: It was explained earlier that resurrection magic in the dungeon is simply a healing spell, as the soul is chained to the body. Because of Falin's dire condition, Marcille has to use what seems to be a genuine resurrection spell, one that is outlawed by every magical institution.
  • You Never Asked: Inverted. Laios mentions that he never asked Marcille about what type of magic she specializes in.
  • You're Insane!: Chilchuck questions his friends' sanity over their willingness to use a questionable substitute like dragon meat for the resurrection spell.
