Envious of Diana's achievements, Barbi Ann Minerva decided to take drastic measures to get rid of her.
Tropes:
- The Ace: Diana, in full force. She's the best athlete in her class, loved by everyone and somehow manages to score 102% on a test.
- Always Second Best: Barbi is smart, athletic and very popular but not nearly as much as Diana is. She doesn't take it well, to say the least.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: When Barbi refuses to share position of the gymnastic team captain with Diana, their coach agrees and makes only Diana the captain.
- Big Ball of Violence: As Wonder Woman's fight with Cheetah gets heated, they disappear in a dust cloud of violence.
- Chekhov's Skill: Whole story starts with Diana proving to be a better athlete than Barbi. Fittingly, with their confrontation taking place in gym, she puts her skills and surrounding her equipment to good use.
- The Cuckoolander Was Right: Batgirl's theory about Cheetah is oddly specific and based on nothing and yet, right on the money.Babs: Don't you see? Clearly, someone is suffering from having their status quo upended by Diana's arrival in Metropolis, and their crippling insecurity most likely caused by absentee parenting, and a lack of proper modeling in childhood, has unleashed a horrible ancient curse that has manifested itself in the form of some weird cat beast that's now stalking the perceived enemy which is Diana!
- Disproportionate Retribution: Because she upstaged her, Barbi plans to kill Diana. And violently as proven when she's picking her weapon.Barbi: [sees bottle of poison] Too quick. [sees choori knife] Too humane.
- Dude, Not Funny!: After seeing destruction caused by Cheetah, Kara's first reaction is to crack several jokes about it. Understandably, Jessica is not amused.
- Freudian Excuse: Babs guesses that villain they're dealing with is suffering from insecurities " caused by absentee parenting, and a lack of proper modeling in childhood."
- The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Barbi who uses a face that resembles the cheetah after washing her hands laughs evilly as she looks directly to the screen at the end of the episode.
- A Glass in the Hand: Barbi breaks the compact she had in hand when Diana receives her 102% score on a test.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Cheetah is quite literally a monster created by Barbi's envy of Diana. For extra points, she has very prominent glowing green eyes.
- Knight of Cerebus: While Barbi might posses humorous quirks like most villains in the show, her alter-ego Cheetah has none. Her whole appearance plays out for the most part like a horror movie and she beats all heroes besides Wonder Woman with ease.
- Malaproper: Diana is guilty of a good one:Wonder Woman: We have much territory to cover. Let us split ourselves![beat]Supergirl: Split up?Wonder Woman: Yes!
- Let's Split Up, Gang!: Team splits to search the whole school for Cheetah. They end up taken down, one by one.
- Overly Long Scream: Once she gets fed up with Diana, Barbi lets out a scream and drives off from school to her home and only stops screaming once she reaches her father's room.
- Shout-Out:
- Batgirl's tracking gear and confrontation with Cheetah are clearly based on Alien.
- The way Cheetah steps into the light and horrifies Diana mirrors Beauty and the Beast.
- "Super Sentai" Stance: The girls end up in lovely symmetrical poses right after suiting up. And the lights go out, but they still keep the stance.
