"This season... of the worm."
Season of the Mitch is the twelfth episode of Season 2 of The Bravest Warriors, and the Season 2 finale.

Picking up from where we left off...

Wallow jokes lightheartedly about his hacked-off arm to a completely broken Danny, who blames himself for the injury. Danny is also clutching onto a stick. Wallow's singing is cut off by Beth, who has found the hoard of brainwashed hamsters, led by a now horribly-scarred Ralph Waldo Pickle Chips. He immediately traps Wallow and Danny through use of their own sticker pets, although Danny doesn't seem to care much. Pickle Chips says that he was using the Dimension Garden to grow food for "the babies". When Beth questions him about his motives, he reveals that the Aeon Worm has become his sticker pet, since they adapt to a user's psyche.

The Aeon Worm is released, and Beth's father tells it to "rise, and claim your mate!" Turns out that the Aeon Worm, now able to speak, was raising Beth to become his bride since the very beginning. Beth has become completely brainwashed and under the Worm's will. The Worm begins to impregnate her through means of Bizarre Alien Reproduction, but is interrupted by Hamster Mitch realising that what he is doing is wrong. Following that is one of the biggest Wham Lines of the series:

Mitch: It's so clear to me now... Deep down... I am a proud, majestic... horse!
Hamster: Horse?
Mitch: ...And I doubt... THE WORM!

Turns out Beth's Paralysed Horse is Not Quite Dead after all, and as triumphant music begins to play, Hamster Mitch begins to float into the sky and sprouts the Horse's psychic armour from "Aeon Worm", and begins to speak in the Horse's voice. "Wherever you hide, I will be there, worm!" Horse!Mitch turns on Pickle Chips and rubs his sticker pad. The Worm disappears. Pickle Chips rubs it again. The Worm reappears. This happens quite a few times. Beth, now free of the mind-control, fires holo-cats at Pickle Chips, but they don't harm him, and he takes control of one and uses it to trap Horse!Mitch, as the holo-cats are not effected by the shield. Beth calls out for Chris's help.

We transition to Wallow and Danny, restrained against trees by their sticker pets. Wallow pleads for Chris to save them, and Danny is still having self-esteem issues. Danny is freed when his dog unwraps itself to chase after Beth's holo-cat, still carrying Horse!Mitch. Danny begins using his stick to fend off the attacking hamsters. Danny looks up to see the broken dome above him, and begins to see the connection between that and the stick in his hand. "Broken dome... Hand-stick!"

Danny rushes over to Pickle Chips and smashes the stick against the dome shielding his brain, which shatters. The Aeon Worm vanishes. As Pickle Chips lies on the ground, presumably dying, he reaches for his sticker pad one last time... And Beth rips it away from him, throwing it into the air, letting Wallow's bird carry it high enough to safely explode. Danny hugs Beth, and Wallow hugs the both of them. Beth slowly smiles and leans into Danny. Mitch, now back in his normal form, is heralded as the "Lord of Morality" by the other hamsters, all freed from the mind control, who carry him off into the distance.

The episode ends with another log from the Paralysed Horse, which suggests among other things, that the See-Through Zone has been destroyed and that Beth will take over as leader of the group now that Chris has disappeared.

Paralysed Horse: Paralysed Horse's log, December 25th, 3085. Echoes, ripples, apotheosis. The hamsters find their saviour... A leader emerges... And as tiny voices featherward float... The fates draw closed... This season... of the worm.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Big Bad: Ralph Waldo Pickle Chips.
  • Bizarre Alien Reproduction:
Aeon Worm: Now... Download my love!
  • Book Ends: The start and end of Season 2 are comprised of monologues from the Paralysed Horse.
  • Call-Back:
Wallow: Hamsters! What did I say about roughhousing?!
  • Chekhov M.I.A.: Chris's return is hinted at throughout the episode, but he never ends up showing up.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The stick Danny is holding.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: The Paralysed Horse.
  • Curse Cut Short: Averted, while Beth does cut off the end of Wallow's song, it was implied he was going to say "arm".
  • Group Hug: At the end of the episode.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Wallow and Danny are imprisoned by their own sticker pets.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Wallow doesn't seem too upset over his missing arm.
  • Mind Rape: Beth, courtesy of the Aeon Worm.
  • Not Quite Dead: The Paralysed Horse.
  • Out-of-Clothes Experience: Beth briefly goes through one while the worm's influence begins taking effect.
  • Pun-Based Title: On Season of the Witch.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Danny has these at the beginning of the episode, but he isn't pleading or begging for anything.
  • Title Drop: "This season... of the worm."
  • Trailers Always Spoil:
    • The shared trailer for this and 'Season of the Worm' shows quite a few spoilers, although many of these are just flashes:
      • A shot of Pickle Chips's sticker pad exploding, although taken out of context it just seems like any other explosion.
      • A clip of the Worm speaking, although also taken out of context, a viewer might mistake the voice for someone else.
      • A shot of Pickle Chips's horribly-scarred face.
      • A flash of the Worm exploding from Pickle Chips's sticker pad, although once again taken out of context.
      • A flash of a clearly-recovered Danny batting away hamsters with the hand-stick (as well as his triumphant pose afterwards).
      • A flash of Beth's horribly-scarred form from when she's under the mind control.
    • The trailer solely for this episode features a scene taken directly out of the episode, which spoils Pickle Chip's scarred body and the fact that the Aeon Worm has replaced his sticker pet.
  • Wham Episode: Wraps up the overarching plot of Season 2.
  • Wham Line:
Mitch: It's so clear to me now... Deep down... I am a proud, majestic... horse!
    Hamster: Horse?
Mitch: ...And I doubt... THE WORM!
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Chris's fate by the end of the season is ultimately left unknown.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Danny ultimately saves the day with a stick he found on the ground.

Season of the Mitch

The Paralyzed Horse, through Mitch's body, saves Beth from the Aeon Worm by rubbing Ralph Waldo Pickle Chips's sticker pad, only for Pickle Chips to rub it again for the Worm to reappear. And this goes on and on while the Worm is brainwashing Beth...

How well does it match the trope?
