Recap / Ben 10 Omniverse S 8 E 10 A New Dawn

Go To

The Time War brings Ben, Rook, and George Washington together to battle an alien conqueror.

Tropes in this episode:

  • All-Powerful Bystander: The Contumelias do not take any direct action in the battle against Ben, Rook and Maltruant, as they are merely observers who are only interested in creating universes.
  • And the Adventure Continues: Unable to sit idly after saving the universe, again, Ben and Rook decide to go on an intergalactic road trip, the former ringing up Gwen and Kevin to join them.
  • Appearance Is in the Eye of the Beholder: The Contumelias appear to everyone as the person who they admire the most. Ben sees Mr. Smoothie, Rook sees his father, Maltruant sees himself and Skurd, not admiring anyone, sees swirling energy vortexes.
  • Big "NO!": Maltruant's final words as he is blasted by the Annihilargh's energy and scattered across time and space.
  • Blank White Void: This is apparently what it looks like if a dimension does not contain a universe.
  • Bookends: Omniverse ends how the first Ben 10 started: with Ben going on a road trip.
  • The Bus Came Back: Chromastone reappears here after having last appeared in Trouble Helix.
  • But Now I Must Go: Skurd ends up deciding to join the Contumelias in their journey, though not without saying good-bye to Ben.
  • Containment Field: The Annihilargh is protected by an extradimensional field that the Contumelia claim is impossible to breach.
  • Contain the Kaboom: Ben catches the explosion of the dwarf star-enhanced Annihilargh, cycling through all his aliens until Feedback manages to contain it and uses it against Maltruant.
  • Cutting Through Energy: Ben is able to cut through the Containment Field protecting the Annihilargh by having Skurd morph a sword out of Alien X's DNA.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Maltruant's final fate, being trapped in an eternal time loop where he will be scattered across time and space, reassembled, start the Time War, and ultimately get scattered across time and space by Ben at its end, for all time.
  • Grand Finale: The final episode of Omniverse, and the final episode of the Classic Series.
  • Historical Badass Upgrade: George Washington is shown to be able to handle Vilgax, something Ben struggled with using his alien forms.
  • Historical In-Joke: The alien ship Vilgax arrives in was entitled “the Cherry Tree” in Plumber records, and George Washington “chops it down” with a lightning-powered musket that shoots axes.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Ben turns Maltruant's Annihilargh right back at him, tearing the evil Chronosapien to pieces across space and time and trapping him in an eternal Stable Time Loop.
  • Lame Last Words: As the Annihilargh goes off, Ben is left dismayed at the fact that he believes his last words were him saying "snot rocket" (something he was apologizing to Skurd for calling him). Thankfully, he survives thanks to the Omnitrix.
  • Logical Weakness: Maltruant has proven to be an immensely powerful Chronosapien, whose time manipulation powers far exceed Ben's Chronosapien form Clockwork. But traveling to the void before the universe was made renders him completely powerless, as an empty dimension with no universe contains no time for him to manipulate. This leaves him open to be blasted across time and space in an eternal time loop once Ben fires the Annihilargh's energy back at him.
Rook: Your powers are time based, correct? Too bad that time has not begun yet.
  • Shapeshifter Swan Song: While containing the Annihilarg, Ben cycles through every alien he'd ever unlocked before the Omnitrix decides that Feedback is the most qualified to handle the situation.
  • Stable Time Loop: Oh boy and it's a big one.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Once Maltruant sees that his plans to create a universe in his own image are going up in smoke, he loses his shit, all the way to the point Ben blasts him across space-time.
  • You Dont Look Like Yourself: In Trouble Helix, Chromastone looked how he did in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien. Here, he looks like this.
