Sprig needs his TARDIS.

Anne finally meets with King Andrias, who sets her and the Plantars up in a fancy hotel, where Sprig takes advantage of the "Royal Credit Card" they've been granted.

    Full Recap
TBA...

Tropes:

  • Chekhov's Gun: After trying espresso, Sprig decides to order one to go for Hop Pop. He ends up using it to move fast enough to save both Bella and the credit card.
  • Comically Missing the Point: After a more subtle gesture goes over Sprig's head, Bella directly asks, "How about a tip?". Sprig mistakenly assumes she's offering to give him a tip, on what the best thing to do in the hotel is.
    Sprig: Thanks for the tip!
[Sprig runs off; Bella sighs wearily]
  • Continuity Nod: Anne is still unaware that Hop Pop buried the Calamity Box and is lying about leaving it with his "contacts".
  • A Day in the Limelight: Sprig is the main focus this time, as the other Plantars are too tired after the events of the last two episodes.
  • Dramatic Irony: The audience knows that King Andrias is secretly plotting something that involves using Marcy and Anne as pawns in some kind of "game", so it's a little disquieting to see him being so boisterous and friendly with everyone.
  • Exact Words: Hop Pop forbids Sprig from taking the card outside the hotel, then falls asleep. Sprig then reasons that Hop Pop never said anything about using it inside the hotel before swiping it and going on a shopping spree.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Sprig mentions that the credit card that fell in Bella's hand has unlimited funding, then he realizes that she's gonna steal it just before she runs off.
  • Extreme Close-Up: Sprig drinking coffee, which even ends up being a Chekhov's Gun:
Sprig: I AM THE TIME LORD NOW.
  • Failed a Spot Check: King Andrias points out that the gems on the Calamity Box's lid in Anne's photo are gray, when they were green, blue, and pink when Marcy last saw the box. Anne admits that she didn't notice, despite it having been in her possession for an entire season.
  • Foreshadowing: When the Plantars meet King Andrias, note that there are several instances about him that foreshadow something seems rather off.
    • He is introduced sitting in the shadow with the sunlight shining behind him with a sinister expression, followed by leaning out into the full light while putting on a jovial face.
    • When he first meets Anne, he seems to chuckle before he speaks, and asks himself if he's saying it right.
    • When Lady Olivia reminds him of his "proper castle etiquette", he just laughs her off.
    • He seems to quickly calm down on purpose before getting down to business, when it normally takes a while to get out the giggles.
    • After reading of the Calamity Box, this line comes up.
Andrias: This will require further study in the deepest of our archives. Give me a few days to work with this information. At that time, we shall reconvene and set a glorious plan in motion.
  • Hourglass Plot: After settling into the hotel, Sprig wants to go out and use the credit card that the king gave them, but Anne, Hop Pop, and Polly are too tired. By the end of the episode, he is too tired while the others are ready to go out.
  • Immediate Sequel: This episode instantly picks up right where "Scavenger Hunt" left off.
  • Internal Reveal: Marcy is the first of Anne's friends to learn that Anne ended up with the box when the three were transported to Amphibia.
  • Ironic Echo Cut: Marcy tells the Plantars that meeting King Andrias is not a big deal. In comes Lady Olivia to tell them that meeting King Andrias is a very big deal.
  • Klatchian Coffee: The espresso served at the coffee shop hypes up Sprig (whose voice even hilariously slows down in pitch), which he later weaponizes.
  • Large and in Charge: The crew note that King Andrias truly is "king-sized."
  • Loud Gulp: Anne and the Plantars do it simultaneously after Lady Olivia sternly informs them that meeting with the king will be a very big deal.
  • Meaningful Name: Bella the Bellhop.
  • Never Trust a Trailer: The cable descriptions only focus on Anne meeting with the king when that was only for the beginning, and the rest of the episode is Sprig having an adventure at the hotel.
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…: Averted. Rather than use his caffeine-induced Super-Speed to snatch Bella out of the air mid-fall, like Captain Grime did to Sasha, Sprig uses it to assemble a large pile of pillows that cushions her fall.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: Sprig uses the fact that he's rich as an excuse to do as he pleases in the hotel and the staff is more than happy to bend to his will. In the end, he uses this to keep Bella from getting fired.
  • Shout-Out: Sprig's first haircut is Tidus' hairstyle, while the other is Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta's hair.
  • Student Debt Plot: Bella's motivation for stealing the royal credit card is that she's been saddled with large amounts of student debt, and her bellhop job is only earning just enough to pay them off, but not enough for her to pay them off and live comfortably. Sprig solves the problem by using his royal favor to give Bella a well-deserved raise.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Bella, the down-trodden bellhop with an excess of student debt from college, is given a well-deserved raise that, combined with seeing the view mentioned below, brightens up her day at least a little.
  • A Truce While We Gawk: Sprig and Bella are fighting over the credit card on top of the indoor ferris wheel when they happen to look at the view out the window of all of Newtopia. They are so awed that they stop their fighting and make up.

Sprig's Haircut

A hairdresser spends quite a bit of time and effort trying to give Sprig a perfect haircut… not that it matters in the end, as Sprig puts his hat back on immediately afterwards.

How well does it match the trope?
