Go To

Stan smuggles trans fats after Langley Falls enacts a ban. Meanwhile, Roger pretends to be Klaus in order to claim an inheritance.

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: Steve eats all of the trans fats when he's nearly caught by Turlington, causing him to get angina and be placed in a medically-induced coma for six weeks. Stan's photo appears in the paper, causing him to be shamed.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Francine eats a pen that fell into the deep fryer.
  • Given Name Reveal: This episode reveals Klaus's surname, Heissler.
  • Hypocrite: Stan preaches to Steve how important it is that they follow the law, but the minute a law is passed which makes Stan's life slightly inconvenient, he begins to circumvent it and this leads to Steve deciding that laws are optional too. Hayley calls him out on it.
  • Idiot Ball: Francine grasps this so hard in the episode she goes beyond stupidity into outright insanity at times. She at one point assumes from nothing that the reason Stan appears so unhappy is because she's pregnant ("That's it isn't it I'm pregnant! You told me I was on the pill!") and is outright obsessed with popping live animals into her new fryer.
  • In a Single Bound: As a result of 60 years of Kegel exercises, the old woman Steve used as a cover for his trans fats smuggling can jump hundreds of feet in the air, and can even change her trajectory mid-jump.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Given how conveniently Klaus remembers that he owed a lot of money to the East German mafia once they've beaten Roger to a pulp, it's implied that he set Roger up both to get the mobsters off his back and to repay him for all the mistreatments he's endured, such as Roger not knowing anything about him at the beginning of the episode.
  • No Sympathy: Steve uses an old woman as cover for smuggling trans fats, using her to carry jars while under the guise of helping the elderly. She points out that he walked her across the county line, to which he says it's not his problem anymore.
  • Not Even Bothering with the Accent: Roger drops the German accent when he's told he just needs to sign an affidavit confirming his identity rather than telling stories about his life. However, he picks it back up when he realizes he's about to get the crap beaten out of him.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Cornered by gangsters, Roger tries to say they can't do this because he's Klaus, aka their target.
  • Police Are Useless: Despite Stan clearly acting suspicious within inches of the county line, Turlington lets it slide because he's outside his jurisdiction.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: To the James Bond film Live and Let Die.
  • Trapped by Gambling Debts: After Roger is beaten to a pulp, Klaus reveals that he had a terrible gambling addiction and owed a fortune to the East German mafia.
