Basic Trope: A trio of men who represent three different types of masculinity and the three stages of a man's life (one who represents the "Hunter", one who represents the "Lord" and one who represents the "Prophet").
- Straight: Hunter is an eager, thrill-seeking Classical Anti-Hero waiting for the Call to Adventure in hopes to one day be like and/or face Cyrus who is a bold, savvy, hardworking and powerful Self-Made Man. So he turns to find a mentor in Abram, who is a stern but very wise Old Master who helps him attain this goal.
- Exaggerated: Hunter is a Determinator and Lovable Rogue that would go to great life-risking lengths to make something of himself and leave some kind of legacy, no matter what. Cyrus is an Ideal Hero and Absurdly Dedicated Worker who always acts as the Big Good when need be and is The Leader to an Elite Army. Abram is an Older and Wiser Retired Badass who has Seen It All and gives wisdom to anyone who seeks it.
- Downplayed: Hunter is a keet who loves the outdoors (though he doesn't hunt much), Cyrus has a natural born leader with a strict work ethic, and Abram is an experienced veteran who people can turn to when they're in a pinch.
- Justified: Cyrus and Abram are Hunter's father and grandfather respectively; Cyrus acts as The Patriarch of their household and Abram acts as a guide to his grandson in order to accomplish Three Successful Generations.
- Inverted: Abram is a False Prophet whose character is all just an act, Cyrus is irresponsible and unsuccessful and Hunter is a Straw Nihilist who could care less about making something of himself.
- Gender-Inverted:
- Huntress is an eager, thrill-seeking Classical Anti-Hero waiting for the Call to Adventure in hopes to one day be like and/or face Cyra who is a bold, savvy, hardworking and powerful Self-Made Woman. So she turns to find a mentor in Aubrey, who is a stern but very wise Old Master who helps her attain this goal.
- The Three Faces of Eve or The Hecate Sisters.
- Subverted: At first glance, Hunter, Cyrus and Abram fit their respective archetypes of this trope, but it turns out they aren't as skilled, adventurous, strong or intelligent as they had let on.
- Double Subverted: Sooner or later, it turns out they actually are, everyone had just greatly underestimated them.
- Parodied: The three act as the respective "Hunter", "Lord" and "Prophet" for every situation, even simple things like going to the grocery store or looking for a lost sock.
- Zig-Zagged: Hunter, Cyrus and Abram trade positions Depending on the Writer.
- Averted: There is no plot, conflict or depth to the characters that helps them fulfill this trope.
- Lampshaded:
- Abram: "I am the knowledgeable experienced old prophet, it is my role to take people like Hunter under my wing so they can become a true lord like Cyrus."
- Invoked: In order to represent this trope, Hunter becomes The Apprentice to Abram and Cyrus becomes The Ace in order to be either Hunter’s rival or idol.
- Exploited:???
- Defied: Hunter, Cyrus and Abram never cross paths and also the latter two refuse to act as the Lord and the Prophet respectively.
- Discussed: "Cyrus should be a character who Hunter wishes to become or face one day and Abram should be some kind of sage who can take Hunter in as an apprentice in order to help him become a true hero."
- Conversed:???
