Basic Trope: Short height, short temper.
- Straight: Tiny is a short person, is extremely Hot-Blooded and has Hair-Trigger Temper, especially for being made comments about his height.
- Exaggerated:
- Tiny is a person who is the size of a dwarf, but is permanently locked in a state of Unstoppable Rage due to everyone thinking he's short.
- Tiny is the size of a rabbit but an Omnicidal Maniac who plots the deaths of all people making comments about his height.
- Tiny is the pint-sized Big Bad of the story; his rebellious and possibly outright sociopathic behavior poses a real and severe threat to those around him.
- Tiny is short but a Complete Monster.
- All villains are short people.
- Downplayed:
- Tiny is a bit shorter than the average human, but he still has his Berserk Buttons and isn't a difficult person to rile up with although he's a bit aggressive.
- Tiny is quite sarcastic, but still short nonetheless.
- Justified:
- Tiny is frequently abused by his parents.
- Tiny is a Jerkass.
- Tiny is too short to go on rides he wanted to go.
- Inverted:
- Gentle Giant.
- Tiny is short and is The Stoic, and almost never takes offense to anything.
- Subverted:
- Tiny may seem angry all the time, but he then starts acting nice when he saves Alice from Mike, The Bully.
- Tiny seems very angry at Alice, but that's because she only pushed one of his buttons.
- Double Subverted:
- But later, Alice is been rushed to hospital when she gets beaten into a gory pulp by a gang of Jerk Jocks.
- It was a lie; he then says that his button was actually a Height Insult.
- Parodied:
- Tiny hears that he's diagnosed with dwarfism and starts to take a level in jerkass.
- Something utterly trivial causes Tiny's anger e.g. mentioning about Napoleon Bonaparte.
- Tiny, while French, was actually of Corsican origin. He was the scion of some backwater Impoverished Patrician lineage, a mere name in some obscure family tree. He had his worst moments in Waterloo, Leipzig, and in the Island of Saint Helena. He's often regarded as some Lower-Class Lout (as well as this trope), who can never hold a good conversation with any woman, no matter how hard he tries. Once he figures out the rather uncanny resemblance he shares with the trope namer...
Tiny: Wait, WHAT!? I've lived the life of fucking Napoleon my entire life!? What an insane fucking coincidence! - Zig-Zagged:
- Tiny gets angry when Alice makes comments about his height, but not when Bob makes comments about it.
- Alternatively, Tiny gets angry when Bob makes comments about his height, but not when Alice makes comments about it.
- Averted: Someone makes comments about Tiny's height; he still accepts it anyway.
- Enforced:
- The producer dislikes short people, so he ordered the writers to make them jerks.
- "We know short people are aggressive and mean, so we need a main character that appeals them."
- Lampshaded: "Are you trying to make f@%king comments about my f@%king height!? Well, one more f@%king comment about me, and I'll SHOUT AT YOUR F@%KING EAR!!!"
- Invoked:Tiny: "You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry! I'm shorter than the average human!"
- Tiny is in a state of rage, and deliberately makes himself look shorter to make it a warning.
- Exploited:
- The Hero uses Tiny to defeat the Big Bad by telling him to comment about his height. The pipsqueak depends on him.
- A Jerk Jock uses Tiny to bully all of the other children by telling them to give a Height Insult to him.
- Tiny frames his crimes on a taller man by wearing larger shoes, given the other way around is nearly impossible.
- Defied:
- Tiny takes anger management classes and tries hard not to be in the short-height-short-temper stereotype.
- "Alright, Tiny... if you ever freak the fuck out ever again because of some idiotic joke you managed to spin into a height based sacrilegious insult, I will demonstrate how angry you make me by using this (pulls out Punch-Packing Pistol) to put you down like the pitiful fucking puppy you're acting like. Have I made myself perfectly fucking clear?"
- Discussed:Bob: "Who is he?"Carol: "That's Tiny."Alice: "Try not to say something about his height. He'll rip your guts off if you do that."
- Conversed: "Why are the characters with small height so angry?" "Well, I dunno."
- Implied: We always mention Tiny kicking anyone whenever someone insults his height, but it's never elaborated upon.
- Deconstructed:
- Tiny is stereotyped by others as being short-tempered due to his short height, and no one wants to be around him either out of fear or hatred. Tiny encounters the Despair Event Horizon and eventually frustrated with everyone's attitude toward him, having every instance of losing his patience overblown and attributed to everyone who makes insults about his short height.
- It's the audience who encounters the Despair Event Horizon.
- Tiny snaps and attacks a much larger guy who insulted him for being short...and the larger guy (being larger and stronger) beats him to a pulp.
- Reconstructed: However, when Tiny meets Dave, he doesn't care despite his Hot-Bloodedness.
- Played for Laughs: Tiny's explosive outbursts of anger, as well as the consequences, are ridiculously over-the-top and funny.
- Played for Drama:
- Tiny's Height Angst causes him to kill anyone who says about his dwarf-sized body... and then cries at their remains to sympathize for what he has done.
- Tiny is Driven to Suicide because of his short height and temper.
- Played for Horror: Tiny's reactions when being called short all work in a sadistic and sociopathic fashion, suggesting that there is a hidden sense of dread whenever someone insults his height.
Back to The Napoleon. And don't ever make comments about my height!
