Basic Trope: A character who cares about his beliefs and frowns on others who don't agree with him.

  • Straight: Danny is a religious man who thinks that his beliefs are right and sees nothing good in other beliefs.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed:
    • Danny isn't that much of an extremist, but is very strict in upholding his religious beliefs - often to the point of calling out others for not being as devoted as he is.
    • Danny is a fanatic about his own behavior but seldom bothers others.
  • Justified: Danny is so vehement in his beliefs because he's right, and he knows it. However, the public is still skeptical, and rather than show empirical evidence (which he may or may not have), he employs more alienating methods.
  • Inverted: Danny is an atheist who spends most of his time championing in defense of the religious.
  • Subverted: Someone asks Danny an Armor-Piercing Question on the subject of his religion, and Danny starts to have second thoughts.
  • Double Subverted: Danny returns to his religion after dismissing those other views.
  • Parodied:
    • Danny is a firm believer of Flying Spaghetti Monster and will condemn others for not sharing said beliefs.
    • Danny is a Knight Templar who wants to cleanse the Earth of all those disgusting, immoral degenerates... who think Pepsi is better than Coke.
  • Zig Zagged: Danny is offended whenever someone has a different set of beliefs, but he also holds science in high respect and doesn't always follow his religion to the letter.
  • Averted: Danny is a religious man who isn't extreme about his beliefs and respects others' beliefs as well.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "Someone's going too far with their beliefs."
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: The hero convinces Danny that he's acting against the very beliefs that he's trying to defend, causing him to rethink his actions.
  • Defied: "I don't want to make people feel bad about their beliefs. I'll keep mine to myself."
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "Danny is just like the people I met the other day yelling on that street corner about how we're all going to Hell."
  • Deconstructed: Danny is so extreme in his beliefs that he's majorly unpopular even within his religion, and those that do follow him would quickly defect. Which leads to Danny being gunned down by Grant, who balks at his methods.
    • Being a fundamentalist doesn't mean that Danny is stupid; he's able to push in his horrifically extreme beliefs by carefully disguising them under more secular language and taking advantage of the blindspots in those around him to push his gospel without them realizing it. As such, supposedly "enlightened" people end up finding themselves parroting his extremist rhetoric due to ignorance, lack of care, or because Danny's fundamentalist views are comfortable and enable them to indulge in their worst impulses...and none of them realize how cruel and extreme they've become until it's far too late. In this sense, Danny's form of fundamentalism is much more insidious and difficult to fight against because it doesn't sound fundamentalist.
  • Reconstructed: Danny keeps his followers in line through fear, isolation, and brainwashing, to lead them into Rape, Pillage, and Burn.
