She Stole My Heart (and most of my valuables)
  • Luz gets exposed to the dying gaze of a Gremoblin and gets sucked into a terrifying and heartwrenching vision.

The Girl Who Could Knock Out the Hulk
  • It's made particularly clear that if Tony hadn't carried the nuke through the portal when he did, Earth would have been overrun with Chitauri, and that the Avengers got very lucky with stopping the invasion.
  • Kara actually needs her glasses here because her first instinctive use of her heat vision permanently damaged her eyes. We thankfully gloss over the details, but it was apparently appropriately horrifying.
  • It's very clear that Steve is a case of Good Is Not Soft. According to Natasha, 95% of his exploits against Hydra during WWII are still classified. Keep in mind, this is the nicest, most noble member of the Avengers, and apparently he did things to the Nazis that no one in the chain of command wants to talk about due to finding them too terrifying to discuss.
  • It's made clear that if Doom wanted Kara or the other Avengers dead, he could have easily killed them. A rather horrific thought, especially when one considers how powerful the Avengers are.
  • Doom is from an alternate reality, and if the visions Strange saw are accurate, he may have killed multiple alternate versions of the latter.
  • It's mentioned that only one in ten Centipede test subjects survive their experiments, and even the ones who do aren't exactly lucky. Whiplash 2.0, for example, is left psychologically unstable and mute due to the serum completely destroying her vocal cords.
  • The Avengers decide to bring the imprisoned Vilgax (who is still an intimidating figure despite being trapped in Petrosapien crystal) back to Avengers Tower, but even in timeless stasis Natasha is seriously concerned about him breaking free in the middle of downtown NYC. And considering the last alien invasion that happened in New York...
  • It's implied that in the universe Doctor Doom comes from, Earth was destroyed by the Chitauri. What little we know if it is that Doom was forced to watch as his country was razed to the ground.
  • Strange leads Kara, Thor, Bruce, Nico and Ellie to the remains of a bar from the now abandoned American Wizard community in order to access the Labyrinth. While there, they find numerous human remains, which reanimate as Inferi and attack them. To make things worse, Word of God states that many of these aren't from the original casting of the curse, but scavengers who stumbled on the place over the years since and were killed.
  • The Kryptonverse used to be the MCU, but Doom and the MCU version of Reed, in an attempt to bolster the Earth against Thanos, are using captured gods to act as catalysts to get the Celestials to trigger a Cosmic Retcon, over and over again, so as to create new heroes to defend the Earth. And if all the non-Marvel characters and forces in the Kryptonverse being the result of this isn’t horrifying enough to think about, given how much devastation the Galra Empire alone has caused, they’re also inserting alien species solely to be Cannon Fodder for the Black Order, so as to weaken them before they reach Earth.
  • Nico implies that if the Faceless got their wish of a world with no gods, the result would not be very livable for anyone.
  • Kara and Fury's talk brings up some graphic descriptions of what happened to Krypton.

    Changing of the Guard
  • Ripjaw's species all but wiped out Krabb's due to both of them evolving on the same planet, the latter admitting that he's pretty much a Brain in a Jar as a result of doing what he needed to survive, and seeing Ben in that form made him furious.
  • Vilgax has faced Thanos and survived, an apparently unique feat which helps make him The Dreaded.
  • Vilgax demolishes the Kree fleet. Ben's group and S.H.I.E.L.D. can only watch in horror as the fleet's remains burn up in the atmosphere, knowing that Vilgax is coming for them next.
  • After the Azmuth A.I. unlocks the Master Control of the Omnitrix to make sure that Ben stands a chance against Vilgax, Heatblast lets loose the inferno against a group of drones, with Gwen remarking that it looks like a miniature solar flare has come down to Earth. The closest drone are quite literally atomized, and despite Ben being over a mile away Gwen still has to magically shield herself from the heat, the demonstration the Omnitrix's power unbound by a species' natural biological limits or the timer system making it clear just why Azmuth was so scared of Vilgax getting it, and that if he did it could devastate armies, or even entire worlds.
  • Vilgax is an unstoppable juggernaut, able to shrug off everything Ben and Gwen throw at him. Even being partially reduced to a skeleton only slows him down until his Healing Factor can work around it.
    • At one point, he vaporizes an entire neighborhood just to make a point to Ben, then threatens to destroy the entirety of Arcadia to force him into surrender.
    • Even worse, he made himself this way so he'd be powerful enough to defeat Thanos…and the Mad Titan still won their fight, even if Vilgax survived! How powerful can Thanos be?
      • Later, Vilgax explains how their fight lasted for days, and he only managed to draw one drop of blood from Thanos.
  • Vilgax's world was the first planet Thanos devastated, without the resources he has today, and in response to the aforementioned drop of blood Thanos got so pissed that he devastated the entire planet, leaving Vilgax as the Last of His Kind. This is who the Mad Titan is beneath the claim that he's doing what's best for the universe, with Vilgax making it very clear that he's completely insane and in complete denial of the many issues with his genocidal plans.
  • Vilgax is so powerful partially because of a dark magic he's taken on that fuels his strength with The Power of Hate from the vengeful souls of his people.
  • The Avengers and Ben tear into Vilgax with all they've got, and he just keeps coming. Power Girl has to rip both of his arms off just to keep him in place long enough for Diamondhead to trap him.
  • The trolls were once slaves of the Dark Elves, and when they aided the Asgardians against their cruel masters Malekith tried to wipe them out entirely. With how some speak of it, it's clear that they're still traumatized and broken by the after effects of it all even a thousand years later.
  • The ending shows Max and Rook finding the remains of a Nova trooper who pushed their connection to the Nova Force to far. Long story short, he was burned inside out and reduced to nothing but ash.

    The Royal We
  • When Power Girl intercepts their falling ship and is crushed underneath, Aja is horrified and briefly assumes that they killed her, which isn't unreasonable to believe.
  • It's also a Funny moment, but Varvatos is rather disappointed that they didn't land in the suburbs, feeling that it would have been a "stronger first impression". Krel shares the readership's concern regarding their protector's needless desire for violence.
  • The Zerons have already arrived, and they're setting up a full Guild base on the moon...
    • Making matters more frightening is that they've set up shop in the desolated, former home of the Inhumans. It's left unknown what happened to them, but the ruins make it clear that it wasn't pretty.
  • The Black Order is apparently so large and powerful that no one species in the galaxy could hope to stand against their full force and win.

To Rule Alone, to Build Together
  • Chloe and Sabrina being forced to hide in the pantry as Sabrina's Akumatized father hunts Chloe down with full intent to kill her. It plays out almost like a tense segment from a horror film rather than anything out of a superhero story.
    • Hawk Moth's Akuma attacks are played up as far more menacing than they were in the main series. Whenever they occur, people either die in droves or get lethally injured via impalement from debris, burn damage, or worse. These attacks are shown through Chloe's POV, and she can barely stomach the sight of how gruesome they are. He actually comes off less as a supervillain and more as a malevolent terrorist with how his Akuma attacks play out.
  • Bustier makes it very clear that a Kwami's full power, unrestrained by their Miraculous, could shatter continents, and that not even someone like Supergirl could channel that power to its fullest extent and hope to survive, and spontaneous combustion isn’t the right terminology because that implies that there would be something left.
  • In this series, using three or more Miraculouses at once would incinerate you from the sheer magical energy. The mental image is not a pretty one.
  • Hawk Moth is a lot more powerful in this universe. Even with the heroes giving Volpina a hand, they just barely manage to wound him.
  • Hawk Moth stabs Chloe during their fight, which is especially unnerving when you remember she's just a teenage girl.
  • When Chloe realized that her mom wasn't coming back, she smoked an entire pack of cigarettes that Audrey had left behind despite having never smoked before. With how oblivious her father was, it's clear that if she had gotten sicker from them than she did, she might not have gotten help in time.
  • It's suggested that Hawk Moth might be using animal souls to bind Nooroo to his will, causing Chloe to remark how it's easy to forget how legitimately evil he is with how ridiculous his Akumas can be.
  • Hawk Moth takes over Princess Fragrance and makes her set an innocent bystander on fire just to fuck with the heroes.
  • Master Fu is more ruthless in this universe, actively attacking Chloe as Queen Bee to force her to hand over Pollen.

    Thanatos Scowled
  • Nico is terrifying in a fight, and although Technus may have deserved it, it's implied that he'll get the book thrown at him for his crimes after Nico separates his soul from the ectoplasm composing his form and sends him to the Underworld.
  • It's made clear that Vlad not only had several of his enemies Driven to Madness, he likely killed some of the more bothersome ones.
  • We learn what happened with Vlad's death. Basically, he found out that Danny, Valerie and Ellie were planning to expose him thanks to Technus and overshadowed the head of the Guys in White to send them after Ellie to lure them out. The Guys in White, not realizing that Ellie was half-human (and thus had actual organs and the like, unlike the blobs of ectoplasm full ghosts have) until it was too late, experimented on her to horrific enough results that even Vlad was disturbed by it. Ellie, thinking that she was going to die anyway, pulled a Taking You with Me moment by using her own body as fuel, killing Vlad and destroying the Guys in White base, almost killing Danny and Valerie before dying herself. Clockwork let Danny change things, but to save Ellie he ended up having to kill Vlad himself, and while Vlad became a full ghost it still clearly affected Danny.
  • It's implied that Dark Danny might have killed off the Avengers (including Thor and Supergirl) and defeated the entirety of the Olympian pantheon in his Bad Future, or at least scared them off enough that they weren't willing to directly fight against him. We never learn how he did this, but it's horrific to think of.
  • Some groups in Ancient Greece used dark rituals to recreate the Minotaur's birth as weapons, completely disgusting and horrifying both Sam and Valerie. Nico even lampshades how sometimes Humans Are the Real Monsters.

    Vespa Major
  • There are several scenes shown of the consequences of Kwamis trying to use their powers on a human scale, including the entire continent of Lemuria imploding and sinking, and a group of Neanderthals suddenly becoming a Hive Mind and going mad as a result.

That Which Drives Nerds to Change the World
  • Tony is effectively in constant pain from the surgical alterations needed for his Arc Reactor implant to have enough space to fit in his chest and keep the shrapnel from shredding his heart.
  • When Tony rescues a woman trapped under some debris, she grabs onto his heated Iron Man suit and gets some nasty burns from it.
  • Wile Tadashi survives, his injuries are pretty severe, requiring that he gets put into a coma. And then Hiro overhears Tony and Cass talking and starts looking for Yokai early...
  • Even if Tony was limited by the urban environment, the fact is that Yokai was actually capable of doing some serious damage to his armor with the stolen microbots, showing how much of a threat he is.

Close Encounters of the Gem Kind
  • The Gem Empire has Gems whose sole purpose is to eliminate organic life that poses a hindrance to a developing colony.
  • Lance is severely injured and nearly killed by the Diamond Authority forces they were facing.
  • Moonstone reveals to the Paladins that the Gem Empire has 100% control of every solar system in the dwarf galaxy Cassiopeia, where Homeworld is located, along with sizable presences in the other galaxies of the local group, and that the main reason that the Diamonds haven't become an unstoppable universe-dominating power is that they want to take their time to extract all the resources they can from each system.

    Eternity in Promise
  • When a Galra vessel and the Castle of Lions enters the system Adora and Catra are in, investigating an old First Ones outpost, all the Horde robots spontaneously reactivate and attack the duo. Even after their defeat, the Horde's threat still looms over the planet.
  • Not only has Lotor tracked down the Paladins, but Haggar has done so through him as well, which means that the Galra are getting closer to Etheria...
  • Catra's claws turn out to be synthetic ones made of vibranium, given to her as a reward for slaying a beast. The terrifying part is that Shadow Weaver made sure that, when they were implanted, she had no anesthesia. Apparently just to spite her for "stealing Adora's kill".

From His Vantage Upon the Moon
  • In this universe, Doom's face was maimed by an explosion during the Battle of New York. We're given a lovely description of the resulting Facial Horror. The fact that Doom's still conscious when all this happens and is outright laughing makes it even worse.
  • A subtle example, but even being raised in Wakanda by a loving family has only dulled Erik/N'Jakada's ambition for power and bloodlust. Considering what we know he's canonically capable of, it's quite disturbing in its potential.
  • Phil makes it clear to Fives and Miko that Arcade's actions killed at least two hundred people over the years, and that's just from his Murderworlds.
  • In this universe Jenny is actually a Cluster superweapon that Vexus made, only Nora stole her before she could be awakened. Besides the idea of Vexus having a robot with that kind of firepower, it's explicitly noted that Vexus will likely find out where she is soon and be coming to reclaim her...
