Postmortem is a 2013 story written by Minato Hikari (Mikari for short) and published online on the brazilian website Nyah! Fanfiction, currently only available in portuguese.

Lucifer and his legions of hell have been summoned in our world by a woman named Yui. The demons created an empire here and it's up to Shinji (a mysterious boy with mysterious powers), Drake (an half-demon ex-mercenary), Kuro (a cold-blooded femme fatale assassin) and the group Postmortem to put an end to the so-called Genesis Empire.

Postmortem contains examples of:

  • Action Girl: Kuro Amano.
  • After the End: The story takes place after the Genesis Empire has taken over the world and killed off most of its population.
  • Alice Allusion: Shiro Hirano, during her transe state, says she must "follow the white rabbit".
  • Archangel Uriel: Mentioned multiple times in chapter ten. Plus, Azazel's flaming sword was stolen from Uriel.
  • Artifact Title: "Postmortem" being the name of the group created to defeat the Genesis Empire.
  • Asleep for Days: Shinji sleeps for days after being knocked out by a group of demons.
  • As You Know: Vincent and Mathew talking about the dark blood even though they already know what it does.
  • Badass Crew: Postmortem, a group of humans dedicated to kill demons.
  • Big Fancy House: Postmortem's main HQ.
  • Bio-Augmentation: With help from the mysterious dark blood, Postmortem's soldiers can become strong enough to fight the demons.
  • The Beastmaster: Nebiros is this since he can summon Orthrus and Cerberus, both giant multi-headed dogs from the underworld in Greek Mythology.
  • Captain Ersatz: Drake Levid seems to have been heavily inspired by the main character from Devil May Cry, Dante.
  • Collapsing Lair: It is said this will happen with all the hell towers on Earth if Lucifer gets killed.
  • Cool Car: The car the members of Postmortem used to travel to Tokyo.
  • Crapsack World: The world has been taken by demons and all people live in fear and most of them got turned into slaves or demon-human hybrids.
  • Crossover Cosmology: Despite being creatures from the Greek Mythology and the story having christianity background, Orthrus and Cerberus made their way into the plot.
  • Darkest Hour: The so-called "Days of Death" when the demons took control of the world.
  • Demonic Invaders
  • Dream Sequence: Shiro Hirano has one.
  • The Empire: Obviously, the Genesis Empire.
  • Hostile Terraforming: It has been said that the towers spread across the world by the Genesis Empire are turning Earth into hell.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Happened in the tenth chapter in which Drake mentioned the fact that the plot was getting intense and that hopefully it wouldn't take very long for it to develop (referencing the fact that this chapter took almost three mounths to come out due to a short hiatus).
  • Misanthrope Supreme: Lucifer and possibly all the other rulers of hell.
  • The Quisling: Many nation leaders, some because of fear and others because of their greed, have welcomed the demons and help them with the administration of countries, states and cities.
  • Satan
  • Shout-Out:
    • Damien North's name is an obvious reference to the character Damien Thorn from The Omen.
    • A lot of references to the The Bible.
    • Mathew claiming that Drake is "just like the Ghost Rider".
    • Also, Mathew wears an Age of Empires t-shirt.
  • Smug Snake: Lucifer.
  • The Usual Adversaries: The common demons.
