  • Some nicknames from The Avengers: Iron Man is "Shellhead", The Mighty Thor is "Goldilocks", the The Incredible Hulk sometimes is "Jade-Jaws", Captain America is "Cap" or "Winghead".
  • Bookhunter: "Kettle Stitch" is the Library Police's nickname for the book thief they're hunting; so called because their high-quality forgery (left behind to hide the fact that the theft occurred at all) used a kettle stitch to bind the leaflets, rather than the common catch stitch.
  • Doctor Sivana dubbed Captain Marvel "the Big Red Cheese".
  • Daredevil is "Hornhead".
  • Green Arrow has been known to call Black Canary "Pretty Bird" whenever they were dating.
  • Harley Quinn, in turn, calls Joker "Puddin'" and "Mr. J".
  • Hound: Morrigan always addresses Emer as a "goose", even when masquerading as the Fomorian priestess Calatin.
  • Impulse is called Imp, especially by the core Young Justice members (Tim Drake, Kon-El, and Cassie Sandsmark).
  • The Joker likes to call Batman by nicknames such as Batsy.
  • Judge Dredd is often referred to by other characters as "Old Stonyface".
  • Lois Lane calls Clark Kent "Smallville", probably meaning he's a hick by referencing his small hometown.
  • Wendy Watson of The Middleman has the nicknames "Dub-Dub" and "Dubbie" (plus the various insults Ida slings in her general direction). And Lacey has her fair share of nicknames for the Middleman himself.
  • In Prez, Beth Ross becomes widely known as "Corndog Girl" after an Instant Humiliation: Just Add YouTube! incident at the fast food restaurant where she works.
  • Ra's al Ghul calls Batman "Detective", while his daughter Talia al Ghul (until recently) called him "Beloved".
  • Robin/Red Robin Tim Drake is called "Little Bird" by Lady Shiva, "Rob" by his Young Justice friends and picks up "Detective" from Ra's as well.
  • In Sonic the Comic Tails in called "pixel-brain" by Sonic
  • Spider-Man:
    • Spider-Man has about a dozen of these, such as "web-head", "web-slinger", and "wall-crawler".
    • His girlfriends frequently call Peter Parker "Petey", although MJ is well-known for calling him "Tiger". In the 1970s she sometimes also called him "Browneyes".
    • Other Spider-Man nicknames include "JJJ" for J. Jonah Jameson, "MJ" for Mary Jane Watson, "Robbie" for Joe Robertson, "Doc Ock" for Doctor Octopus, "Flash" for Eugene Thompson, and "Mayday" for Spidey's alternate-reality daughter May.
  • Star Trek: Early Voyages: In "The Fires of Pharos", Starbase 13 is located in the Marrat Nebula, "a treacherous expanse of charged gas clouds and ion storms where privateers and brigands prey on commercial traffic." Starbase 13's resulting difficulty in policing the area has led to Starfleet personnel nicknaming the facility "Fort Apache."
  • Strontium Dog: Archibald MacNulty is only referred to as such by his "gran". On the good kind of "Wanted"-posters, he's "The Tartan Terror". To everyone else, he's "Middenface".
  • Long before getting a name outside his Cadmus designation of 13 eventual Superboy Kon-El was nicknamed "The Kid", which, shortened to "Kid", is probably the name which has been used for him the longest. After accepting the Superboy title people closer to him in age took to calling him "S.B.".
  • Superboy Kon-El/Conner Kent had a number of nicknames including "the Kid" and S.B. partially because he started out life without a proper name, the closest thing he had to one was his Cadmus designation of S-13 which there was no way he was going to answer to. Luckily Superman eventually gave him a Kryptonian name and later adopted him into his family by bestowing him with the Kent surname.
  • Guy Gardner usually called Supergirl "Kid" during and after her Red Lantern phase. Kara was not happy about it.
  • In the Silver Age, the Teen Titans were "Robin-o", "Wonder Chick", "Flasheroo" and "Gillhead". In the Bronze Age, Robin was occasionally called "Batboy".
  • Wonder Woman:
    • Wonder Woman has been known in series and out as Di — short for Diana — and Wondy since the Golden Age.
    • Wonder Woman (1942): Several of the Golden Age Holliday Girls went by nicknames. Roberta Strong went by "Bobby" and Virginia True by Ginny.
    • Priscilla Rich, the Golden Age original Cheetah, is known by her associates and "friends" as a civilian as "Pris".
    • In Wonder Woman (1987) after the monarchy is done away with Ares takes to calling Diana "once-princess-once-goddess," since it manages to be snide and respectful at the same time.
    • Demeter calls Ares "old red-eyes" when she's irritated at him but they're not actually on opposite sides.
    • Wonder Girl (Cassandra Sandsmark) is known as Cassie and occasionally Cass (though the second is usually avoided to prevent confusion with Cassandra Cain.
    • Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman: In "Gothamazon" Harley Quinn addresses Diana as "Double W".
  • X-Men:
    • Professor X: "Chuck" (by Wolverine)
    • Cyclops: "Cyke", "Fearless Leader" or plain "Slim"
    • Jean Grey: "Jeannie" (by Wolverine) or "Red"
    • The Beast (Henry P. McCoy): "Hank"
    • Magneto: "Bucket-head" (by Wolverine)
    • Storm: "Stormy", "Roro", "Wind-Rider", or (aggressively) "Wind-Witch", sometimes "princess" or "boss"
    • Colossus: "Pete", "Petey", "little brother" (by Storm in earlier days)
    • Nightcrawler: "Elf", "Nightelf", "Fuzzy-Elf", or "Fuzzy"
    • Wolverine: "Wolvie"
    • Banshee: "Irish" (by Wolverine)
    • Shadowcat is "Kitty", "Kate" (in stories set in the future), "Kitten" (by Storm), "Katya" (by Colossus), "Kätzchen" (by Nightcrawler), "Punkin"(by Wolverine), and sometimes "Cat"
    • Rogue: The fact that "Rogue" was originally her childhood nickname may explain why there aren't that many other frequently used nicknames, although she has been referred to as "Red" and "River-Rat" occasionally.
    • Phoenix II (Rachel): "Red", "Ray"
    • Dazzler: "Lightengale" (mostly by Rogue), but usually "Ali" (short for Alison) or "Dazz"
    • Psylocke: "Betsy" or "Betts"
    • Gambit: "Cajun"
    • White Queen: "Frosty"
