Heartwarming / Who Killed Markiplier?

Go To

    Who Killed Markiplier?
  • Damien.
    • He truly cares about Mark, despite their separation, and genuinely wants to find out who did this to him.
    • He also, despite the obvious evidence pointing towards it, tries to give the Colonel the benefit of the doubt when it's suspected that he was Mark's killer.
Damien: ...and while I would stake my life on the innocence of the Colonel or yourself, can we say the same of our beloved detective?
  • Chef has been letting George live in secret around the manor grounds, and immediately starts to defend him when the Detective suspects him of being Mark's killer.
  • Benjamin is the second nicest character behind Damien, and it shows. The only time he ever really is mean to you is when Celine starts to suspect you, but at that time, there was some supernatural manipulation going on, and even then, all he does is make a sarcastic quip about your clothes.
  • Despite being a callous ass to most of the characters, the Colonel truly cares about Damien. He's furious when he and Celine go missing, and (combined with Tear Jerker) according to Mark, he was so overridden with guilt for shooting the Detective and the District Attorney that he sat near the latter's body, cradling his cane, for ten hours.
    • Notably, when the others are following Celine's lead in getting suspicious of the DA, the Colonel refuses to say anything bad about them; even his lingering feelings for Celine aren't enough to make him turn against a new friend.
    Side Stories

Interview #69: Benjamin Butler

  • Benjamin states in his interview livestream that he and Mark were great friends pre-corruption, and that working for him was one of the best experiences of his life. It's why accusing him of Mark's death is such a Berserk Button for him.
  • If you read the Twitch comments after Benjamin's (rather justified) outburst at his interviewer, you see that most if not all of them are some variation of, "You're hired!" Especially so considering how much he needs the job.

Wilford 'MOTHERLOVIN'' Warfstache

  • Contrary to his usual personality, when Wilford finally recognizes and remembers Abe, he's genuinely pleased to see him, apologizes for what he did, and tries to help him come to terms with their current situation.
    • When Abe finally starts to realize what's going on and asks in a rather broken voice if he's crazy, Wilford immediately assures him that he's not in a gentle, sincere tone.

DAMIEN

  • Celine spent years trapped in a mental time loop with Damien, never stopping to rest, just so she could protect what was left of her little brother's soul. In the end, Damien takes over and tells her that it's her turn to get some sleep now.
