    In General
  • Tanjiro Kamado in general. The boy is, without a doubt, one of the best examples of an All-Loving Hero. He's an incredibly kind, compassionate, and noble boy, who's greatly loyal to his loved ones and doesn't hesitate in the slightest on helping others.
    • Whenever Tanjiro shows sympathy for the demons he kills instead of disgust like most demon slayers. This sympathy usually lets the demons remember their lives as humans, allowing them to pass on peacefully.
      • This is most noticeably shown in his speech to Giyu shortly after Rui's death, emphasizing that while he's doing his job as a Demon Slayer by slaying demons out of necessity to stop them from causing further harm, there's no way that he will deny mercy to demons which repented in the end due to their wrongdoings, nor he will trample on their pain and sorrow that caused them to become a demon in the first place. Because like him, they were humans once but unfortunately didn't get the help they needed before succumbing to their despair and becoming demons.
      • In addition, although there are humans who became a demon solely for nefarious reasons or have unknown backgrounds, there are few in between. Most of the demons shown in the series are indeed worthy of mercy, even if they don't think they deserve it. And even if they will surely face suffering in Hell to pay for their crimes, there's a "Ray of Hope" Ending for them that they will be reincarnated again, hopefully for a better life than they endured back in their past lives.
      • Also the fact that once Demons realized their wrongdoings like Rui and Akaza/Hakuji, they learn that they have loved ones who are willing to go with them to Hell so that they wouldn't be alone, showing that even at their worst, they still love them. Even Ume/Daki (who became a Demon without her input) forsakes her chances to reincarnate just to be with Gyutaro.

In-Story Examples

    Final Selection Arc
  • The sweet relationship that Tanjiro has with his family. Even after death, Tanjiro has nothing but fond memories of them, and their spirits tend to come to him in times of aid.
  • Tanjiro manages to get Nezuko to control her demonic hunger for flesh through his brotherly love. Seeing how he and Nezuko are willing to fight to protect each other is what causes Giyu to acknowledge that Tanjiro does have the potential of turning Nezuko back to normal. Considering his past, the Hashira has every reason to despise demons and not help the Kamados, yet he is reasonable enough not to let his hate cloud his judgment. And deep beneath his cynicism and insecurities, Giyu is a strong and idealistic individual.
  • The fact that, despite being a Demon Slayer, Giyu gave Tanjiro instructions to meet his teacher so that he can start his journey. He also made a bamboo muzzle for Nezuko so that she could control her demonic impulses better.
  • After Tanjiro cuts off the Hand Demon's head during the Final Selection, the latter laments that he ate his brother and asks him to hold his hand. Tanjiro, being the All-Loving Hero, holds the Demon's hand while the latter cries. Doubles as Tear Jerker.
  • It goes to the point where Tanjiro prays that the next time the man is reborn, he hopes that he does not turn into a demon.
  • Tanjiro seeing Nezuko awake after having slept for two years and crying Tears of Joy whole hugging her. Urokodaki then arrives and hugs the two siblings while crying as well since one of his students finally came back after fighting the Hand Demon during the Final Selection.

    Asakusa Arc
  • Tamayo is a woman who was turned into a Demon by Muzan, but she was able to lift his curse. She works as a doctor alongside a boy named Yushiro and dedicates her life to save injured people. She wants to establish a method of treatment through which demons can be turned into humans and asks Tanjiro to help in two stages: studying Nezuko's blood and collecting blood from demons about as strong as Muzan.
  • When Tamayo tells Tanjiro about the creation of the medicine for turning demons back into humans, Tanjiro says that it's not just Nezuko that will become a human again, but many other people as well, Tamayo gives a smile and agrees.
  • After the fight against Susamaru and Yahaba, Tanjiro goes into Tamayo's basement, where Nezuko sees him and runs towards him to hug him. Then, she runs to Tamayo and hugs her as well, whole patting Yushiro on the head much to his displeasure. When Tanjiro tells Tamayo that Nezuko sees her and Yushiro as members of her family, Tamayo is moved to tears by the fact that the two of them are seen as humans and not as demons and returns Nezuko's hug.
  • After Tamayo says that she and Yushiro will leave Asakusa since Muzan has found them"s demons, she offers to take Nezuko with her since it would be safer than being taken into battle. While Tanjiro considers that Tamayo has a point, Nezuko holds her brother's hand, wanting to remain with him. Tanjiro thanks Tamayo for her concern and tells her that he and Nezuko will stay together.
  • When Tanjiro and Nezuko leave Tamayo's house, Yushiro tells the former that his sister is a beauty. Yushiro may dislike anyone who gets close to Tamayo, but he's not really a bad person at all.

    Tsuzumi Mansion Arc
  • During his fight against Kyogai, Tanjiro avoids stepping on the former's papers, which Kyogai notices. Later, after Tanjiro defeats Kyogai, the latter asks the former whether his Blood Demon Art was incredible, and Tanjiro confirms. While dying, Kyogai sees Tanjiro not stepping on his writing as someone finally acknowledging his writing skills and cries Tears of Joy.
  • Despite Zenitsu's utter terror, he never at any point considers running away and leaving Shoichi to the mercy of the demon. In fact, at one point, he even urges Shoichi to abandon him and run away.
  • Zenitsu stopping Inosuke from destroying Tanjiro's box, and more importantly Nezuko inside (who he hadn't met yet). Even when Inosuke spells it out that there's a demon inside, Zenitsu revealed he had always known since first meeting Tanjiro. Tanjiro's kindness threw him in a loop, and Zenitsu figured he must have had a good reason to travel with a demon to begin with. So he trusted Tanjiro enough to keep the box safe, even if it meant getting beaten and battered by the boar-faced demon slayer. Zenitsu's following line emphasizes perfectly Tanjiro's personality:
Zenitsu: "I hear a sound when I look at Tanjiro, it's so gentle and kind it makes me want to cry."
    • This gets even more poignant when you remember that Tanjiro hadn't even been speaking to Zenitsu when he mentioned how important the box was to him. He'd been speaking to the two children while Zenitsu was panicking and didn't appear to be listening.
  • Tanjiro being moved when Zenitsu protected Nezuko from Inosuke despite knowing she was a demon. Zenitsu comically blushes.
  • Tanjiro also tells Zenitsu that he can tell he is a nice guy and he is really strong.

    Natagumo Mountain Arc
  • Tanjiro thanks Inosuke for coming with him to the mountain, feeling encouraged. Surprisingly, Inosuke is moved.
  • When Tanjiro is about to kill the Mother Spider Demon, she's terrified in the face of death at first, but then she realizes that death will save her from Rui's cruelty and she embraces it as freedom. Seeing her surrender, Tanjiro changes his form to a painless one: the fifth form, "Blessed Rain After the Drought."
    • After being decapitated, she comments on how painless it was to have been killed, feeling showered by a gentle rain, and also about Tanjiro's kind eyes, saying that when she was a human, someone used to look at her with the same eyes and wonders where that person is.
    • The fact that Water Breathing has this particular form. Breathing styles are generally utilized to eliminate demons and given how the Demon Slayers Corps are dedicated to exterminate every last one of them, it is a fair play for them to treat demons like shit and inflict massive pain against them since demons don't even hesitate to harm and belittle humanity. Perhaps before Tanjiro, there might have been a demon slayer who believed that even demons deserve to be treated humanely, especially a demon who finally reclaims their humanity and is more than willing to face judgment in order to be free from demonic influence.
  • Before disappearing, the Mother tells Tanjiro that a member of the Twelve Kizuki is on the mountain and to be careful.
  • Ukogi (Zenitsu's sparrow) crying when it sees Zenitsu's state after fighting the Brother Spider Demon. Considering their bickering, that says something.
  • The bond between Zenitsu and his master Jigoro shown during the former's past. Despite Zenitsu being forced to train against his will to repay the debt that Jigoro paid and despite Jigoro being annoyed at his student's crying outbursts and attempts to escape, their flashback shows how much they care for each other.
  • Zenitsu tells Jigoro that he calls him Gramps instead of Master because he loves him. Jigoro puts a hand to his chest and blushes, clearly moved by his student's declaration of filial love for him.
  • Zenitsu admitting that he trained in secret to meet his beloved teacher's expectation and being disappointed for not meeting them. Jigoro then attempts to comfort Zenitsu by pointing out he does have value and he is later distressed when a lightning bolt hits his student.
  • Inosuke is about to give up, believing he will get killed when the Father Spider Demon attacks him, but he remembers Tanjiro telling him not to die. The old lady's words to always live their lives with great pride, and he renews his resolve, telling the demon to Bring It. Doubles as Awesome.
  • "The bond between Nezuko and I cannot be severed by anyone!"
  • Giyu defending the Kamado siblings from Shinobu despite having only met them once two years ago.

    Rehabilitation Training Arc
  • Mitsuri Kanroji is moved by the fact that Tanjiro has been protecting Nezuko despite being a demon. She's in fact, besides Giyu, the first Hashira to quickly support the decision to accept Nezuko into the Demon Slayer corps.
  • The leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, asks the Hashira to accept Nezuko despite her being a demon and not kill her, due to the letter that Urokodaki sent him about her actions (the fact that she has not eaten a single human ever since Nezuko was turned into a demon. Considering that he is unable to see due to his illness, this means a lot.
  • Urokodaki and Giyu being willing to risk their lives for Nezuko and commit seppuku if she ever eats a human. Hearing this vow from Urokodaki's letter is enough to move Tanjiro to tears.
  • While Sanemi flaunts his bloody arm in front of Nezuko, she thinks humans need to be protected and loved and not eaten, and refuses to drink his blood. Doubles as a Moment of Awesome.
  • Tanjiro is relieved to see Zenitsu and Inosuke alive after the mission on the Natagumo Mountain.
  • Shinobu wants to share with Tanjiro her dream of befriending the demons.
  • Due to her Dark and Troubled Past, Kanao has trouble making decisions without flipping her coin. However, thanks to Tanjiro's reasoning of flipping the coin as many times as he can to get the outcome he wants, Kanao gradually manages to think for herself instead of relying on flipping her coin.

    Mugen Train Arc
  • The television adaptation of the arc opens by building on something as seemingly-inconsequential as Kyojuro's piles of bento, as we saw in the opening of the film. Turns out, those bentos were produced by a struggling grandmother and her granddaughter whose business was affected by the Mugen Train's periodic breakdowns (not knowing it was because it's been taken over by a demon)note . Kyojuro, ever the magnanimous guy, bought out their entire stock multiple times. The first time, it was just as a way to infiltrate the train warehouse (and to supposedly give souvenirs to his underlings in the Corps). The second time, it was just to enjoy them himself (as he's been fighting the whole night).
    • They further built on this by revealing that the grandmother actually had encounters with demons before—together with her daughter (the little girl's mother) previously—and Shinjuro, the previous Flame Hashira, saved them. The realization that she owes both generations of her family's lives to the Rengokus is pretty sweet to watch—even as we know how far fallen the elder Shinjuro has been, and how Kyojuro promised that he will tell his family about them.
  • Chapter 55:
    • Tanjiro's dream shows his family alive and well, and Tanjiro cries Tears of Joy when he sees them again.
    • In Zenitsu's dream, he and Nezuko are on a date and holding hands in a landscape that appears to be a forest. The two are enjoying themselves and speaking about the peaches there being tasty and many white clover flowers blooming, and Zenitsu would make Nezuko a wreath of flowers.
    • In Kyojuro's dream, after his brother Senjuro asks him whether their father Shinjuro was happy that Kyojuro became a Hashira, he answers that although his father wasn't happy, he wouldn't be discouraged. Then Kyojuro encourages his younger brother by telling him that he believes in him and that he would become a great person no matter which path he would walk.
  • During the battle against Enmu (Who has completely fused with the train), Nezuko does her very hardest to protect the passengers from him. However, Enmu's flesh catches and prepares to rip her apart. Fortunately, Zenitsu awakens (technically speaking, as he's more like sleepwalking) just in time to save her. After saving her and the other passengers, Zenitsu makes his declaration that he will protect Nezuko.
    • During Kyojuro's speech to Akaza on why he's refusing his offer to become a demon, we see a brief scene of Zenitsu holding Nezuko close to him after the destruction of Enmu's train, most likely saving her from the chaotic destruction. It's extremely heartwarming to see Zenitsu stay true to his declaration.
    • Not only that, but he also seems to be holding what appears to be a mother and child, who were most likely saved by Zenitsu from the destruction of the train. It's always nice to see that Zenitsu (Unconscious or not) is willing to protect other people, even if he's scared.
  • Chapter 58: One of Enmu's human servants is a boy suffering from tuberculosis, a slow and painful death sentence in the time before antibiotics. He became one of Enmu's servants and he was prepared to hurt others because of wanting to escape the pain caused by his illness. However, when the boy entered Tanjiro's subconscious, he could feel the warmth and kindness in Tanjiro's heart. Some shining sprites which are manifestations of his kindness guide the ill boy near Tanjiro's spiritual core where the former could only cry and say he wanted to stay there forever.
  • As Kyojuro is fatally impaled by Akaza's fist, he recalls the final words to him said by his bedridden-mother Ruka, that motivated his resolve to be the loving big brother and Ideal Hero that he is:
Ruka: Kyojuro... I want you to consider carefully the question I am about to give you... Do you understand why you are born stronger than everyone else?
Young Kyojuro: No, mother, I don't.
Ruka: Come closer... (Lovingly embraces her son with a Tearful Smile) I no longer have much time left in this world... But... I am so very honored to have such a strong, kind-hearted boy like you for a son...
    • Afterwards, with renewed resolve, Kyojuro lets forth a mighty roar & grabs Akaza with every ounce of his fading strength while monologuing the following words:
Kyojuro: No, Mother... the honor is mine... ...to be born to a noble & kind woman like you!
  • Even though Kyojuro is about to die following his battle against Akaza, he asks Tanjiro to tell his younger brother Senjuro to walk the path he thinks is right and tell his father Shinjuro take care of himself.
    • When Rengoku sees Tanjiro still tearfully and desperately plead in futility for him to not die, he spends his last breaths as he had lived; inspiring courage and hope with words of kindness, so that the three grieving younger boys may also become great heroes themselves:
Rengoku: Young Kamado, before I die, I wholeheartedly approve of your sister as a fellow Demon Slayer. Onboard the train, I witnessed her, covered in wounds, still fighting with all she has to protect the humans around her. That makes her one of us, a warrior of The Demon Slayer Corps; I will defend this truth even if nobody else will... Please, don't let your heart be heavy with grief for my death... As a Pillar it is my duty to protect my juniors, and not let the next generation suffer for the previous one's folly... Any Pillar will gladly defend the weak to his last breath. Please young Kamado, do not take shame in your self-perceived weakness, and bravely Live. Grit your teeth, and let the fire in your heart burn free... Time will not stop and wait for you to curl-up in a corner to mourn & weep... And last of all... I believe you three will soon become mighty Pillars on which our fellowship can depend upon... You will all become fine Pillars.... Young Kamado... Young Warthog... Young Blondie... I have faith in all three of you....
    • As Kyojuro's soul begins to pass on, he sees the spirit of his mother and asked her if he did well and if he used his gifts wisely, and with a kind smile she confirms that he did splendidly. To this reassurance Kyojuro also smiles in reply, as the last seconds of his life slip away.
  • Kyojuro's final kindness was such that it got through to someone as unintelligent as Inosuke, who in his own way understood the spirit of his will. Seeing Tanjiro still weeping in grief, Inosuke tries to encourage him:
Inosuke: Stop cryin' right now & stop whinin' bout' whether yer' ever become like him or not! Listen up! When ya die, yer become dust in the ground, and that's it! No matter how much ya whine n' cry, n' there ain't no ever comin' back from that! If yer really wanna honor his memory, just live like he told ya to! No matter how weak & embarrasin' ya think yer are, just live like he told ya to, dammit! He said he believed in us, didn't he? So stop cryin' & let's start trainin'! (Runs off crying)
  • Chapter 69: Tanjiro tells Senjuro that he will move forward no matter how difficult his life will be, and that he will become a powerful Hashira like Kyojuro was.
  • Before Tanjiro leaves the Rengoku house, Senjuro gives him Kyojuro's handguard, telling him that it would protect him.

    Red Light District Arc
  • In Chapter 70, Kanao shows off her Character Development by making her first decision by following her heart- to stop Uzui from drafting Aoi and Naho for a dangerous mission to the Red Light District. Shortly thereafter, Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke volunteer to go instead.
  • Chapter 73: Also counts as Awesome, but the fact Zenitsu decides to stop Warabihime (Who's actually Daki) from brutally abusing one of her female workers by grabbing her arm and demanding her that she lets go of her worker is really just beautiful to witness. The series continues to show that Zenitsu may be a cowardly demon slayer who tends to complain a lot and gets a bit clingy towards beautiful women (Especially Nezuko), but his heart is definitely in the right place.
  • The Oiran Koinatsu tells Tanjiro in Chapter 75 she will leave the village because she found a man willing to take her as his wife.
  • One of the extra pages reveal that Koinatsu is a very sweet woman who spoils everyone to the point that the Ookami gets mad at her whole two girls ask her to play with them and do their hair.
  • Chapter 77: Tanjiro motivates himself to keep fighting against Daki by using Kyojuro's memory and his catchphrase: Set your heart ablaze!
  • Chapter 80: After Tengen's wives are rescued, he is shown to greatly care about them, admitting all of them are precious to him and asks them to stay alive.
  • Chapter 81: Shinjuro writes a letter to Tanjiro in which he apologizes to him for his behaviour and thanks him for having cried over Kyojuro.
    • Shinjuro admits that unlike him, Kyojuro was an amazing person, never giving up and training himself to become a Hashira only with a three-volume book.
  • Chapter 84: In a subtle way, Tengen displays a change of heart towards Nezuko since his first appearance. Instead of immediately trying to kill her after she's grown in size and power, he only scolds Tanjiro and urges him to solve the predicament.
  • Chapter 88: Despite being initially dismissive of Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke during the Red Light District Arc, in Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui acts much more respectul towards the trio and is much nicer towards them, admitting that they are his prized successors. And he is worried about them when he realized that they are dealing with an Upper Moon-ranking demon in this arc.
  • Chapter 95: Nezuko saves the crew from Gyutaro's last-ditch attack by burning the blood demon art away.
    • She goes on to rest Tanjiro's head in her lap after healing the poisoning he took, waiting for him to regain consciousness and proceeds to piggy-back carry him across the battlefield on her little legs when his own fail him.
    • Nezuko uses Blood Burst to burn out the poison infecting Inosuke, who is proven to be out of any danger when he can demand more food roucausly. The siblings then embrace our best boar-boy with Tanjiro sobbing uncontrollably in joyous relief.
    • She goes on to heal Tengen in a similar manner and Suma blubbers her thanks to her "little sister" after threatening that "big sis is gonna spank you!" to the little mite for setting her husband on fire.
    • Uzui comforting his wives and telling them he's sorry he worried them so as they cling to him in solace. When he’s trying to give his last words, they act normally (Suma crying hysterically, Makio getting angry as a result, and Hinatsuru trying to keep the peace), but once the poison is removed, all three of them tearfully cling to him in relief.
  • Chapter 96: When Daki and Gyutaro start ripping into each other with truly hurtful words on their worth, Tanjiro stops them, telling them they will be despised by everyone for their crimes and shouldn't curse the only person they have left at the end.
    • Although Gyutaro's life as a human was difficult because he was picked on constantly due to his physical appearance, his life got a bit better when his sister Ume/Daki was born. Of course, people in his situation are more likely to sell their other relatives for some material profit or act callously at them for having something that they don't have, but Gyutaro didn't do any of those things to his sister and acted as her protector and breadwinner.
    • As Gyutaro reflects in the afterlife, he thinks that his only regret is raising Ume/Daki to be vicious and greedy ("taking from others before they take from you"), and thinks that is why she assaulted the samurai that burned her in retribution. In the manual, we learn that the samurai spoke badly of Gyutaro, and Ume felt a filial duty to defend his honor, because he had done such an exemplary job as her big brother and Parental Substitute.
    • Ume is absoultey not letting Gyutaro suffer alone. When he tries to convince her to abandon him and go "towards the light", she jumps onto his back and wraps her arms around his neck . Then, as they, prepare to go to hell together. Gyutaro lifts her up and carries her on his back as he walks, so that the flames won't touch or hurt her.
    • In a strange way, Doma saving Gyutaro and Daki/Ume could count as this. Granted, turning them into demons may not be the best way of saving a life, but it's strangely nice to see this guy actually doing something decent for somebody when he could've easily left them to die or kill them himself. Especially when you learn how deranged Doma actually is.
      • In a similarly strange way, Gyutaro makes the same offer to Tanjiro. Yes, he is also saying that Tanjiro is weak and pitiful etc. but it may also be a sincere offer to get stronger and do a better job protecting his little sister.
  • In Chapter 97, Iguro chides Uzui for thinking about retiring so soon after Rengoku's death. Still, Uzui counters that there's someone strong enough to fill the gap he's leaving- Tanjiro, the rookie Demon Slayer Iguro "hate(s) so much."
  • In the wake of the battle, Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke share an embrace, crying tears of joy and relief at the fact that they not only won the battle, but that they all lived to see its end.

    Swordsmith Village Arc
  • Chapter 99: After Tanjiro wakes from his coma, two months after the Entertainment District Battle, Kanao is in the room, completely shocked. She then runs up to him and to check if he was okay. Afterwards, she gives out a tearful smile, greatly relieved that Tanjiro has finally awakened.
    • On that same note, when Tanjiro has fallen back alsleep, Kanao tries to get everyone in the room to be silent. When they couldn't hear her, due to their bickering, she suddenly raised her voice so they could stop it and let Tanjiro sleep in peace. It's greatly amazing and cute to see Kanao come this far on expressing her emotions more clearly.
  • Chapter 101: Mitsuri doting on little Nezuko. It's also absolutely adorable.
    • Mitsuri tells Tanjiro that she fully supports the Kamado siblings. It's greatly more heartwarming when one remembers that she was the first Hashira to quickly accept Nezuko into the corps, so to see that she still supports the Kamado siblings is an absolute delight to see.
  • Chapter 126 shows the climax of the swordsmith battle where Nezuko sacrifices herself to allow Tanjiro to defeat Hantengu. After defeating Hantengu, Tanjiro weeps, believing that he had lost his sister to the sun. However, the swordsmith villagers notify Tanjiro and he looks up, seeing Nezuko alive and well under the sunlight. She finally talks and greets him with a smile. Even the narrator describes Nezuko's smile as "A smile that shines like the light of dawn..."
    • Even better, since now Nezuko is finally able to say a few words, the first word she says after being revealed to be immune to the sun?: Ohayōnote
  • Chapter 127 shows Tanjiro in a state of awe, asking Nezuko if she's okay. Nezuko smiles back and tells Tanjiro how glad she is that he's safe, although she can't say her words fluently yet. The villagers thank both siblings for saving the village and that they would never have forgiven themselves if Nezuko perished. Although Tanjiro is still surprised, he cries Tears of Joy and hugs Nezuko, who smiles happily.
Tanjiro: (bawling his eyes out) Thank goodness! I thought that you were dead! Thank goodness, Nezuko! I'm so glad you're alright! Thank goodness!
    Nezuko: Yes, thank goodness.
    • The villagers also cry tears of joy, sympathizing with Tanjiro and Nezuko's heartwarming hug. This moment is so heartfelt, that even Genya shows a gentle smile and congratulates both siblings. Moments later after regrouping with Muichirou and Kotetsu, Mitsuri arrives and gives everyone a big Group Hug, crying her tears of joy for everyone surviving the battle.
  • Chapter 128 has a sweet moment between Tanjiro and Gotou. Gotou arrives at the Butterfly Estate to check on Tanjiro's condition and even shows concern for Nezuko being able to walk in the sun. It shows that Gotou has really become more caring for Tanjiro as the series progresses.
  • Muichiro also deserves a special mention here. When the battle is finally over, Muichiro thanks Tanjiro for helping recover something that was precious to him: The memories of his life and family. If anything, Muichiro gets an happy ending for him in this story arc, since in the past, he couldn't remember his life due to his trauma and became distant and cold towards others. But thanks to Tanjiro, he's finally able to remember his past more clearly and can now display clearer emotions and will now be able to make new happy memories, starting with his friendship towards Tanjiro.
  • Genya has had quite the angry attitude before, but after the Swordsmith village arc, he's softened up very much and gets along with everyone very well. It shows how much Genya has grown as a character throughout the series.
  • The arc's anime adaptation expands on Mitsuri's background. Her parents were nothing but proud of her incredible strength and capacity for food. When Mitsuri tried to hide her eccentricities to appeal to potential suitors, they were worried about their daughter's self-esteem and tried to reassure her that it would be fine if she never married.
  • While Tamayo is writing her letter to Tanjiro, she explains that she had used samples of both Nezuko's blood along with some of the 12 Kizuki to cure a man who had been turned into a demon by Muzan. We see the same man happily reunited with his wife.
  • At the end of the story arc, Tanjiro and Nezuko are getting ready to depart back to the Butterfly Mansion. Tecchin arrives to personally thank Tanjiro for defending the village. Haganezuka is also thanked by Tanjiro for always taking care of his sword, to which Haganezuka promises to reforge his sword. The Kakushi laters arrives and blindfolds him and plugs in his nose sense. But after a few steps, the Kakushi unblinds him so he could take a look at something: When he does, he sees the entire villagers thanking him for protecting the village. The Kakushi decides to let Tanjiro see the entire thing as they leave, as Tanjiro smiles with awe and gratitude towards the village.

    Hashira Training Arc

    Dimensional Infinity Fortress Arc
  • After Zenitsu's fight with his treacherous colleague Kaigaku, it's clearly showcased how much Zenitsu cares for his master, who committed seppuku due to Kaigaku's betrayal and transforming into a demon, showing his cold anger at him and being determined to avenge his father figure and mentor. After his victory, when he's on the verge of death before he recovered thanks to Yushiro's efforts, Jigoro telling him how he's so proud of him is both this and a Tear Jerker.
  • In a mix of this and Tear Jerker, Kanao recalls how she was Unable to Cry at Kanae's funeral, but Shinobu didn't judge her for it; she merely comforted her.
  • Sanemi isn't the most pleasant of the Hashira, but his entire motivation for joining was to keep his brother Genya safe from the demons so that he could start his own family and live a happier life after what happened in the past. Although he doesn't get what he wanted in most heartwrenching way possible, it's a sweet thought.
  • Chapter 177 reveals that Yoriichi was always a sweet and kind person ever since his birth. Although he was treated poorly by his father and pitied by his brother Michikatsu, he still loved his family. He smiles for the first time during his first conversation with his brother at sword training. When he is chosen to become the next successor of the house after showing his own skill in sword training, he refused because he didn't want to usurp his brother and decided to leave for the temple early. He also treasures the flute given to him by his brother and tells his brother that he will always remember him along the way.
  • After Yoriichi and Michikatsu's mother died, it turns out that Yoriichi wasn't clinging to her out of a desperate need for affection. Instead, he'd realized that her illness had weakened her left side, and was supporting her.
    • Despite the rough relationship between Akeno and the twin's father, because of the latter's treatment of Yoriichi, Gotouge reveals that he's always loved Akeno and never remarries after she dies from her illness, holding her body and wondering why she never told him about her illness. In the first place, he only kept Yoriichi because Akeno refused to give her son up. One of the main reasons he sent a messenger after Yoriichi was not just to get his prodigous son back but also because he wanted to honor his deceased wife's last will of trying to give the twins equal treatment instead of discriminating them. He was so worried about Yoriichi that he literally dies in his thirties when Michikatsu got married and had a child.
  • Chapter 184 shows the lower ranking Demon Slayers using themselves as shields to defend Tanjiro, Giyu, Mitsuri, and Iguro from Muzan's Blood Demon Arts. They shout that the Hashira were the ones who have saved countless lives and that they wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the Hashira's help. They continue to defend the Hashira and Tanjiro and convince each other to not give up. This doubles as a Tear Jerker.
  • In the flashback with Sumiyoshi and Yoriichi in chapter 187, Yoriichi plays with Sumiyoshi's child Sumire, who reminds him of his own child. He soon starts crying and hugs Sumire gently. Sumiyoshi's wife arrives shortly after, only to discover Yoriichi crying and she decides to comfort him and invite him for dinner.
  • Chapter 188: The reveal that Iguro is in love with Mitsuri.
  • Chapter 189: Giyu accepting that he is the Water Hashira and encouraging himself to fight until the end. This shows how much Tanjiro has changed him for the better.

    Sunrise Countdown Arc
  • Giyuu remembering Murata's name and the latter being moved to Tears of Joy about it since they were in the same Final Selection, even though there is a great difference in power between them.
    • One of the extra pages shows Murata still cry Tears of Joy after Giyuu remembers his name and asks him to go together to eat after the final battle is over.
  • Chapter 196: Tamayo's drug to turn people to humans works as Nezuko gradually changes back and starts remembering all events that happened, the deaths of the Kamado family members and all people that she met on the way after having become a demon.
Nezuko: I am Nezuko Kamado! My family was killed by a demon!
  • Chapter 200: After all this time and despite what happens in this chapter and all sacrifices made, Muzan is finally defeated.
    • Himejima is reunited in heaven with the children he took care of when he was a priest.
    • Mitsuri and Iguro declaring their love for each other and their desire to marry each other in their next lives.
    • In a black space, after seeing his mother, Sanemi willingly offers to accompany her to hell since, as a demon, she killed his siblings except for Genya. At the same time, his father pushes him away and tells him he should be proud of being his son and that he is strong.
    • The first thing Giyu does after the fight is over is to look for Tanjiro despite his own wounds, showing how much he has grown to care about him. However, what happens next...
  • Chapter 201: Inosuke's speech:
Inosuke: We're all buddies here. You're like brothers to me. If anyone is about to go down the wrong path, we'll all stop them. No matter how painful or torturous it is, let's all walk down the right path.
  • Chapter 203 finally reunites Nezuko and Tanjiro, both human and so, so relieved to still have each other in spite of everything.
    • For the fans who ship Tanjiro and Kanao especially, the reveal that she survived her Heroic Sacrifice is bound to be incredibly relieving.
    • Everyone crying Tears of Joy after Tanjiro turns back into a human, even Giyu and Yushiro.
  • Chapter 204 has so many moments:
    • Several characters visit Tanjiro in the Butterfly Estate following the fight against Muzan, such as Yushiro, Tengen and his wives, Senjuro and his father Shinjuro, many of the Kakushi and many of the swordsmiths from the Swordsmith village. If there is anyone who doubts Tanjiro's kindness and compassion, this scene will leave others without a doubt.
    • Inosuke and Zenitsu sleeping on Tanjiro's bed.
    • Chachamaru happily sitting on Tanjiro's lap.
    • Tengen pats Tanjiro on the head.
    • In one small panel, Tengen is carrying Nezuko on his right arm, much to her delight.
    • After Kiriya disbands the Demon Slayer Corps and shows his gratitude to the remaining Pillars (Giyu and Sanemi), Sanemi tells him that they don't deserve the gratitude and that the Demon Slayer Corps kept going due to the Ubuyashiki family. Giyu tells Kiriya that he did a magnificent job as the master and that all his ancestors would be proud of him, which moves both him and his sisters to tears.
    • Kiriya, Kanata and Kuina are last seen happily playing ball with each other, finally able to live as normal children.
    • Giyu and Sanemi smiling to each other.
    • Shinjuro thanks Tanjiro for fighting with Kyojuro's hilt in his hand.
    • While Aoi is preparing food, Inosuke tries to steal some to eat but Aoi notices him. She then gives him some onigiri on a plate. Inosuke smiling after this is adorable.
    • Kanao reveals that Sanemi gave her Iguro's snake, Kaburamaru, since she is nearly completely blind.
    • Nezuko meets Sanemi and asks him if his wounds are alright, which Sanemi confirms. He apologizes for being asleep while Demon Tanjiro went on a rampage, and Nezuko says that she was asleep for two years. This reminds Sanemi of Genya who said the same thing at one time, and he pats her on the head and tells her to take care. Doubles as Tear Jerker, one might think that seeing Nezuko might have reminded Sanemi of his younger siblings.
    • Then, Giyu and Urokodaki visit the Kamado siblings. Tanjiro remarks that Giyu cut his hair that finally symbolizes of moving forward from his guilt-ridden and traumatic past while Nezuko happily hugs Urokodaki.
    • Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu and Inosuke putting flowers on the deceased Demon Slayers' tombstones.
    • Tanjiro and Nezuko are reunited with 'old man' Saburo.
    • The four then go to the Kamado home to live there.
  • Chapter 205 is a Distant Finale set in the modern era. As a result, most of the core cast has long since passed on. Still, they were succeeded by a number of descendants and others who carry their likenesses, showcasing a plethora of interactions their predecessors wished they could have.
    • Yoshiteru Agatsuma and Toko Agatsuma heavily resemble their great-grandparents, Zenitsu and Nezuko respectively, implying that Zenitsu and Nezuko ended up falling in love and marrying each other. Seems like Zenitsu got the girl of his dreams after all.
    • In Chapter 200, Mitsuri and Iguro confess their love for each other and promise to marry each other in the next life. Many years later, in Chapter 205, we can see that they made good on that promise, as a panel shows a couple who runs a diner, known for its snake decor and plentiful servings, who look exactly like Mitsuri and Iguro.
    • Sanemi and Genya both reincarnated as members of law enforcement. However, unlike their shaky working relationship during their time as Demon Slayers, they're working together without any problems in the modern era.
    • A trio of kids that resemble Giyu, Sabito, and Makomo show each other their charms. When the latter expresses disappointment that she got a charm she already had, the former two boys waste no time in giving their charms to her despite their rarity, much to her delight.
    • There are two characters from the original time era that are still alive. The first is Kiriya, who holds the record for being the longest-living person in Japan, which means that the curse that his ancestors and his father succumbed to was finally lifted enough that he could live past his twenties. The second is Yushiro, who reveals that he decided to take Tanjiro's advice to heart and continues to preserve Tamayo's memory by painting portraits of her. Along with him was Chachamaru, Tamayo's pet cat who become a demon.
    • The last image of the story is of Tanjiro's earrings and katana being kept as family heirlooms by his descendants, and next to them is a picture of him with his surviving friends, victorious and happy. Thus, while their adventures as Demons Slayers are over, they earned the remainder of their uneventful but peaceful life and would not only be (possibly) reincarnated, but the history and legacy of the Demon Slayers would be remembered decades on.
  • Chapter 205.6 gives us a bit more focus with the remaining main cast before the time skip.
    • Overlapping with Tearjerker, the remaining Kamado children, along with Zenitsu and Inosuke, have finally returned home to avenge and save their family. Tanjiro and Nezuko feel their deceased family’s spirits welcoming them back, which brings them to tears. Zenitsu and Inosuke immediately console them with a big hug.
    • Tanjiro's and Kanao’s descendant wonders how his great-great-grandparents were like as people and him wanting all the demons he's heard stories of to be forgiven and reborn as regular people.
    • The final panel shows the main group, along with Kanao, holding hands, and looking up to the sky. Although their adventures had them witness many horrors, heartbreak and death, they know it’s finally over and can now live happy lives and be at peace. And that those who gave their lives up can rest in peace too as their sacrifice was not in vain.

  • The Databook's cover (as seen here in this page) shows Tanjiro and Nezuko holding each other's hands and smiling together. The Databook itself is a great book that contains lots of fun facts for readers to enjoy.
  • With the success of selling 25 million copies of the manga, Shonen Jump posted a video celebrating the series' progress and promoting the release of volume 18. The video shows many key scenes from the manga, but they're actually all animated. It is absolutely beautiful.
  • The cover of Chapter 167 shows a dog eating food from Sanemi's hand, the latter with a smile on his face.
  • Volume 23's cover shows Tanjiro and Nezuko smiling and waving towards the reader. Nezuko is also shown holding a bouquet of flowers as she happily waves. This cover image truly emphasizes the finale of the series as a whole and it's very heartwarming to see Tanjiro and Nezuko being truly happy at last.
