  • This exchange between Komaru and Toko.
Komaru: I wanna read that though, the novel that you’d write about this city. Oh, that means you’d be writing about me too.
Toko: Out of everything that happened in this city… being with you… is the only thing that I… It’s the only memory of here… that I want to keep…
  • As sad as it is that Toko's friend on the Kill List is a stinkbug, there is something uplifting about Toko being so happy to learn they're okay.
  • Just Komaru and Toko's entire relationship. Toko has never had friends or even loved ones, considering how her Kill List friend is a stinkbug. Even after surviving the events of the first game, she never really got close to the other survivors (except Byakuya, obsessively), especially considering how she's the only one who's not a full-fledged member of the Future Foundation. Toko is constantly taken aback by Komaru's affection and friendliness towards her, and she slowly warms up to her until they become Fire-Forged Friends. Their bond even carries over to when Toko is Syo, as they share emotions. In all likelihood, Komaru is Toko's first real friend.
    • Just to give some idea of how strong their friendship is, near the end, Toko is offered a key to free Byakuya if she'll choose him over her worries about Komaru. She completely rejects the offer and the idea of choosing one of them over the other.
    • For the early part of the game, Toko will be annoyed with Komaru if Toko has to step in to save her from being killed by an enemy. However, after Toko and Komaru become friends, she instead gets angry with the enemies for trying to hurt her friend.
  • Near the end of the game, when Komaru admits to Toko that she dreams of drawing a manga, Toko refuses to make fun of her for it, despite the fact that she despises manga, because not only did she promise not to, but she also finds dreaming of 'being' something admirable. Not only that, but when Komaru says that, should she accomplish that dream, she wants Toko to be the first person to read her first manga, causing Toko to respond that she would never have imagined the day she would actually read a manga, implying she would read it like Komaru wants, something Komaru picks up on.
  • The genuine amount of respect and admiration Toko has for Makoto, who helped her and the others escape Hope’s Peak and never once gave in to despair. Though she claims not to have had any friends before Komaru, Toko clearly thinks of Makoto as a strong person.
Toko: No matter how tough things got... he never gave up.
  • Genocide Jack saves Komaru from the Monokuma bears which she only did it to save Byakuya but over time she like Toko starts to care about Komaru which she rescues her from one of the Warriors of Hope who is Kotoko Utsugi and later on is planning to let Komaru go even though she decided to stay instead and after hearing her speech gives out a genuine smile which is very cute.
  • The Naegi siblings reunite, even if it's over a video call. Makoto last saw his sister in a video that implied she was dead or worse, Komaru last saw her brother before he was locked in Hope's Peak with no way of knowing if she'd ever see him again. The two of them sound so relieved to know the other is alive.
  • When Masaru starts beating his arm into submission when it starts twitching and spazzing out, Komaru is horrified and concerned and begs him to stop.
  • Nagisa. He's the one who believes in the idea of the children's paradise most of all. All he really wants is a world where children won't have to live in fear of adults, where none of them would ever have to experience the kinds of things he and the other Warriors of Hope went through. In his memoir found in Chapter 4, he even admits, while he still feels it was necessary to create paradise, he does feel guilty about murdering the adults of Towa City. This includes his own parents, who he feels indebted to for raising him.
  • The epilogue. Komaru choosing to selflessly stay behind in the city to protect the survivors, Toko choosing to stay behind with Komaru, and Byakuya of all people giving a genuine smile and admitting to being in debt to Toko and Komaru for saving him.
    • Additionally, there's Byakuya easily agreeing to partner up with Makoto, which is a Call-Forward to how the two of them plus Kyoko selflessly try to save the Remnants of Despair.
  • Near the end, Toko comforts Komaru when she starts to break down.
Toko: *hugs Komaru* Right... we're in this together. When you can't hold out on your own, I'll help you... and when I can't make it by myself, you'll help me. Persevering as a pair like that... it's what makes being together so great, right?
  • Pretty much the entire scene at the shrine is bursting with Heartwarming moments. After learning about the bargain Toko and Nagito struck to keep Komaru in the city Genocider Shyo throws a fight to drive Komaru off only to get called out on her intensions to provoke Komaru into leaving because its what she has wanted the entire game. Then when Nagito forces another shift in personality Genocider immediately attacks him, her connection with Toko informing her on a subconscious level to help Komaru. Nagito compliments Genocider on having a beautiful friendship, but points out that for a killer to have a friend is rather bizarre and even shameful. Genocider bursts out laughing, agreeing that her having friends is absurd, preparing to kill him...only for a tearful Komaru to grab her hand holding the scissors and begging her to stop. Komaru points out that if she kills again she will betray her promise to future foundation, adding that she considers both Genocider and Toko to be treasured friends. Nagito points out that to protect Byakuya's life Genocider will have no choice but to silence him. Upon considering this, Komaru decides to abandon her goal of fleeing the city for the sake of her friend. Genocider balks at this, pointing out that Komaru has been whining about wanting to leave since they met, even going so far as to hold her scissors at Komaru's throat to intimidate her while emphasizing that she and Toko betrayed her trust by conspiring with Nagito. Komaru, unflinching, simply clasps her hands over the hand grasping the scissors, declaring that even a normal, weak girl like her can provide love and support to a friend. Genocider mocks her a bit, but admits that she and Toko can't possibly deny an offer of friendship such as that.
    • To make things even more heartwarming, much later in the game Toko prevents Komaru from causing mass slaughter in a moment of absolute despair, unequivocally declaring that Komaru and Byakuya are both equally important to her and refusing to choose between them. A little later she slaps Komaru out of her stupor, declaring that the action hurt both her hand and her heart. Komaru returns the slap at Toko's insistence, agreeing that it hurts to do so. Toko embraces her, echoing Komaru's words that a friend can support you if there is something she can't do on her own.
