  • Am I the only one who thinks that Main Character being ridiculed by his family is blown way out of proportion? All they do is (constantly) tell him he sucks for not even trying to do anything when he and his sister were kidnapped (and they had no way of knowing this wasn't true at the time) and they do reconcile, but the way the Esoteric Happy Ending and Karma Houdini entries are worded makes it seems like they regularly beat him and tortured him when in reality they just insult him. Yes, its very much assholish, but not nearly as bad as other Abusive Parents situations are.
    • "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me," is BS even if the victim can't handle the amount of physical abuse The Protagonist can. Emotional abuse can, and will, cause real health problems, increased vulnerability to diseases, etc. It triggers depression, which is the leading cause of disability worldwide. The skills and psychological defense mechanisms he must have developed to keep it from kicking in and incapacitating him actually make his ability to get up after defeats and so on Fridge Brilliance: He's used to the way he's been treated in the game (aside from the physical violence). If he weren't able to get back up after heartbreak, he'd never get out of bed in the morning. While it's doubtful the creators studied that much evolutionary psychology and biology, in that context they're writing Heroic Willpower as a Disability Superpower. To make it worse, even though his family is going to stop it now, the damage has already been done. Supportive friendships and so on are better treatment than any anti-depressant will ever be, but if he were ever to lose the support network he's built up, he'd be fucked. After a certain level of damage, the 'executive function' will kick in, meaning the brain will start vetoing the decisions of the conscious mind. Heroic Willpower causes people to put themselves in dangerous situations, and one of the evolutionary functions of depression is to force people to stop doing stuff that will only get them hurt.
  • The "level 1 when dead or clearing a dungeon mechanic" doesn't make any sense. How is it level 1 when you are upgraded? It seems you aren't level 1 at all, so the only change is number.
    • No,it does. It is like the game has two different level pools. The one determines your base stats(and I think but I am not sure, your stat growth)while the other determines your power within the dungeon.See,you are more powerful when you are level 170:level 10 than when you are leve170:level 9.Also,in-dungeon levels give you more power(albeit temporarily)than out-of-dungeon levels.
