Funny / With Pearl and Ruby Glowing

Go To

On the whole, this is not a very funny piece, but whether in a Dark Humor or genuinely funny way it does have its moments…

Main Stories

  • While Hiccup is telling the group about how he met Toothless:
Hiccup: I had a friend… granted, he smells weird and he’s covered in hair-
Vanellope: So’s Ralph and we put up with it!
    Hiccup: ...No comment.
  • One of Julien's "charges" given to him by the cult is that he's not white, to which he asks the leader if he expects him to "pull a Michael Jackson." While the cult didn't find this funny, this gets a few chuckles out of some of the Palace members.
  • In Part 4, the Late Night Show features some silly commercials:
    • Several of the ads state at the end not to use the product/service for sexual purposes, including Pizza Planet.
    • Trip Hamston (who is noted to be badly sunburnt and that he "looks like an idiot") advertises a brand of menstrual cups.
"They make this with the same medical grade silicone they use for boob jobs. If it's good enough for yo' titties, it's good enough for yo' pussy. Why shove a paper stick up there when you can shove up a boob job instead?"
"And remember: if you wouldn't put it in yo' hatch, why would you put it in yo' snatch?"
    • The Biskit twins don't even try to act nice during the commercial for the Largest Ever Pet Shop. They call a woman walking by "ugly", and after saying the store also sells food and accessories, they flip their hair and say, "In case you need it or whatever." Also, the ad ends with the disclaimer, "Largest Ever Pet Shop is not involved in animal trafficking."
  • Freakazoid, apparently, threw donuts everywhere. There is no context as to what led up to it.
  • Riley's American History report on Pocahontas says that John Smith's account of the story "should be taken with a grain of salt. Maybe many grains. And the pepper shaker too..."

Side Stories

  • Vet Visits:
    • In Chapter 2, Wilhelmina has to deal with a high Pinkie Pie and Julien wanting her to heal a hamburger. It’s just as insane as it sounds. She calls back to this several times throughout the story, but special mention goes to Chapter 22 when she recalls the incident to Ren, who says that "Hamburgers can't really feel pain." Ren then admits that he can't believe he said that.
    • In Chapter 4, Manolo comes to the veterinary office and awkwardly tells Wilhelmina how Carlos got road rage and hit a cow... yesterday. Wilhelmina tells him that it's probably too late, and Manolo is horrified.
    • In Chapter 27, Oak and Wilhelmina get called to the Simpsons' house to deal with Stampy the elephant, who proceeds to pick up Oak with his trunk and put the man's head in his mouth.
  • The first Cops' Daily Life chapter deals with Mako and Nick dealing with a drunk Kristoff, who had stolen a reindeer from a petting zoo.
    • According to Vet Visits, it had been there for a while, as Anna calls Wilhelmina and Professor Oak to deal with it.
    Anna: Sven is in here.
Oak: Uh-huh... and what seems to be the issue?
    Anna: He’s drunk.
    Oak: I'm sorry, what?!
    Anna: He's, um... drunk.
Wilhelmina: You’re... (nods in Kristoff's direction) Is there sommat wrong? Should I be-
Anna: Oh no, that’s Kristoff. He’s sober. Sven is the drunk one.
Wilhelmina: And Sven is the reindeer?
    Anna: ...Yeah.
  • In Robinson R&D, the development team at Cornelius' company refuses to let Doofenshmirtz name their project the Energy Car-inator.
Doofenshmirtz: I don't want to hear that from someone who named his daughter Nickel!
Pietro: I didn't know Penny was a girl yet!
Doofenshmirtz: That is issue number six with that name.
  • Forensic Kits:
    • Mitch Downe is confused about why Dr. Sweet needs to take his blood (which is to test him for diseases), leading Sweet to wonder what the Hell the high school is even teaching these kids.
    • Kekata tends to get some of the more... interesting patients:
      • In his notes for Miguel he writes "Has sold cocaine to literally everyone I know," which he crosses out. He does the same thing for Tulio's notes.
      • Zim believes that mouthwash and dentists are fake, prompting Kekata to make the note, "Schedule patient to see dentist. IMMEDIATELY."
      • Kekata got stuck with Ragetti and he laments how he always gets the weirder patients.
      • When he notices that Banzai has bite scars all over him and is missing a nipple, Banzai says that they were from Shenzi and Ed, who are his step-siblings in this universe. He also mentions that he got Shenzi pregnant, although the baby didn't make it. Kekata makes a mental note to get aspirin for himself after the examination.
Kekata: I think your nipple might be-
Banzai: Oh yeah, been gone for years. That’s from Ed!
      Kekata: Ed?
      Banzai: Our brother.
      Kekata: Yours... and this girl's?
      Banzai: Uh-huh.
      Kekata: You... share a brother.
Banzai: We share more than that.
  • In "Statements," Vachir tells Professor Oak that he'll be taking Gary's statement instead of Calhoun because the boy tried to hit on her. Afterwards, he decides to go ask Calhoun if she wants to join him in drinking heavily.
  • One of the conspiracy theories the Conspiracy Buddies discussed is if Adam Sandler is a vampire.
  • Sex and Silliness
    • Oegwipali has to bear witness to Mulmangcho wearing a collar and Sugar Sprinkles having cat ears and holding a leash while both of them are completely naked. His biggest objection when the shock wears off is that Sprinkles shouldn't be the one holding the leash if she's the one wearing the cat ears.
    • Gromit walks in on his parents having sex. Not just any kind of sex — leather-clad BDSM, with Wallace of all people in a gimp suit. He's so shocked and horrified that he begs Kenai to let him have a drink to forget about it.
  • Coming Out:
    • The Farmer, named Benjamin here, is confused and bothered by Wallace dating "Willard", saying that Gromit should have a "maternal figure" in his life. He also says that his "daughter" (Shaun, a trans boy) is just a tomboy and won't turn out to be a lesbian. Bonus points for a comment by one of the writers:
Writearoundchic: The universe is out to make Ben eat his own words.
    • The Beifongs are eating dinner and Huan reveals he's gay, much to Baatar Jr.'s shock. Baatar Jr. then asks if anyone else is not straight; everyone's hands save for his go up. Even Toph, who says, "You have no idea what I did back in my younger years." Huan then adds that it was probably Katara.
    • Scorpia asked her mothers how coming out to them would work before coming out as Gay.
    • Aekku's family apparently already knew he was gay and bet on when he was going to tell them. They did the same with Assistant Weasel (also gay) and with Officer Fox (who is trans and got all the money because nobody considered that as an option).
  • In Good Neighbours, Mulmangcho claims that Blue and Red didn't kill Gloria because they have an alibi, but refuses to explain himself. His continuous insistence on the alibi being "airtight" makes it clear that he walked in on them doing something important.
  • From the Mouths of Babes:
    • D.W. asks Jose what a prostitute is and he tries to make a run for it, but Donald isn't having any of that and stops him because he got stuck with the same question when Huey, Dewey, and Louie were in Kindergarten and Jose was in Brazil.
    • Vitani tries to propose to Kuzco with a ring pop. His response is to give a Blunt "No" and walk off, leaving Pacha to explain why he can't marry her.
    • Lisa Loud ends up Saying Too Much by telling some of the younger kids that dead bodies are actually cleaner than real ones, so several kids became germophobes and took extreme measures to keep themselves clean (such as Edith and Agnes wrapping their bodies in Saran Wrap), which led to Mary Poppins sending Lynn Sr. several phone calls from angry parents or guardians.
  • Shard Times:
    • Red Son offers Jasper a job at ta de food truck if she can finish an extremely spicy kebab. She accepts... and can't handle it. And to add insult to injury, Red Son charges her for it.
    • Jasper walks into Spacetries and sees Lace Blue Agate, whom her sister Lace Amethyst had run off with. She almost immediately walks right out.
  • "Day Jobs"
    • In chapter 2, Genie attempts to help Amos Slade with his computer, which he claims shut down due to a tax program Chief downloaded. When it turns out that he actually shot the computer, Genie has the fight the urge to Head Desk.
    • Chapter 4 details Coach Collins trying to make a new football team due to the previous team getting arrested. Due to him being Too Desperate to Be Picky, he gets an...interesting line up of people. Highlights include:
      • While the reason it happened was horrifying, the fact that the entire football team has been kicked off the team is hilarious.
      • Much to Coach Collins' dismay, he ends up getting not one, but FOUR girls on the team.
      • Even in a universe without the KND, Cree's Blood Knight tendencies are still very much present, with her making it clear that the main reason she's on the team being that she wants to tackle people.
      • Coach Collins' utter relief at seeing Victor Stone, which doesn't even change when he realizes he has prosthetics.
      • The final person we see Coach Collins looking over is Jamie Reyes, who doesn't want to kill a beetle that landed on him, yet also claims to have anger issues. At that point, Collins doesn't bother to push.
    • Chapter 6 also has quite a few funny moments, mainly due to all the Noodle Incidents that come up.
      • The chapter opens with Crocker protesting a comment he made that got him accused of racially profiling Timmy before he realizes what's going on.
      • Upon meeting Lizzy for the first time, Crocket promptly assumes she's another Addams child and wonders if her name is Tuesday or Thursday.
      • Lizzy, unsure why the adults are trying to dodge saying that she's been a victim of the Ark, casually blurts it out, leading to a Big "WHAT?!" from Crocker who is sure that if he had been drinking, there would have been a Spit Take.
      • Due to Gromit saying something about someone on TV, Lizzie dumped fire ants on him. Fire ants she calls her service animals.
